My friend has been kinda addicted to GW. Actually so much that it affects her school working. Yesterday we discussed about it and she decided to give all the stuff she has away (to me :P). As i understood it was the only solution to quit GW for her. So now im filthy rich of money + rare/green items. yay-.-.. but im still feeling kinda down about it. Though she was my best online friend. Still i feel i did a "duty" for her so she can concentrate towards school. :P
I think she was a bit mad of all the items she gave away. But still i think she knows that it was the best for her. Now i'm just thinking should i wait and keep the items on my inventory if she changes her mind (which i doubt, i think she blocked me from MSN and Xfire for some reason:P.. claimed it was that i wouldnt try to get her back on playing.. i know that sounds silly but still).. what you guys think about this? :p

I personally think that nothing should stand in the way of good schooling (except maybe family)... but I may be biased, since I'm a teacher.
You did the right thing. A game should not command your life... there's more to it than that.

I think she did the right thing. Being rich can kinda corrupt u. becuz u know ur good at it, so when ur feeling down u go back and then feel bad. and the vicious cycle is born.
like the beano said school is very important, make sure u do well.
PS: just so u dont get corrupt like ur friend, u can always donate sum stuff to my charity ^^

I had a friend who quit playing GW as well. Not for the same reason but he did give me a bunch of his items because he didn't think he would be back. I saved them for about a month before selling them off just in case he decided to play again. I think it was more for my own conscience then actually in case he came back to GW. Kind of feel guilty getting a bunch of free stuff because I normally earn everything I have in game.

I also think that school should go before gaming. After all you would rather have a nice real life rather than an nice ingame "life".

wow that's pretty lucky ~~
i would have just stopped gaming untill the next holidays or something, when i wouldn't have to worry about school too much anymore...instead of giving eveyrthing away, i would probably regret it waaaay too much..
but well, that's just me then ~~

To answer your question at the end of your post, I personaly would set aside her things and keep them safe for her until the holidays when she might want to come back or something like that.
Sure, a good education (not school, school isn't important)is important, but it isn't the sole position of life and at some point, most likly during a holiday, she might wanna come back and play again, at which point, she could still get her items back.
Oh and jut to reiterate, yes, the right thing happened ;D

I think she should have kept all of her stuff and just had the dicipline to not sign on. Whats stopping her from jumping back on now worse than ever? She's gotta get all that stuff back. If I were you, I would contact her somehow and give her stuff back. That'll releive the guild from you.

I had enough money before that. So im not very "needy" imo. And she had given the stuff month back to me, but i kept them safe and gave em back to her as she came back. Now she said she wont come back till GW2 or something. Iam most likely gona sell the items couse im now too loaded of those. Sure if she will come back before GW2 i shall give her money more than she needs. :P

Done that before.. ended up giving them again to me as she started black mailing me as "i will quit now if you wont help me etc-.-".. so she now then gave me the stuff again. Who knows if shes looking for my "interest" in virtual world. So her friends said to me back a while that she likes me. XD.. anyways that might be the reason why she just gave the items to me ( to get her back to game) or something kinda busy writing this stuff so don't mind if it's a bit messy ><

lol, it's like you talked about me in the past. i had the same thing, was really addicted. stopped playing for like 3 months, and then i felt playing again(because when i was addicted i didn't lkike GW anymore because it was boring, but i HAD to play, without reason). and now i can totally control myself. i never want to experience it again though. it's really a pain.
when you want to help her, you can pm me about it and i give you my msn so i can help her with it.
wish her good luck, she's going to need it
thanks to mimori for this nice signature!
if you find big grammar faults in my posts, please pm me to tell me what i did wrong.
