Trial Code

Can anyone help? I need to find a trial code but every time i find links online it tells me that the promotion is ended. :(

Me and my best friend are really wanting to test out the game but we have 2 problems. 1) we don't want to pay for it until we've had a chance to test it out, and 2)we won't have the money to buy it for 2 weeks anyway lol. If we could some how get out hands on 2 trial codes (one for me, one for him) we could try it out and in 2 weeks buy the game! Also a friend of mine who used to play before said that if we started playing, he'll try to re-activate his account!

Can anyone help please? we both downloaded the 2.5gb file only to find out that we couldn't find a code :(

You can create characters on any of the servers, but the official Gameamp server is Triumph.

I have characters on all the servers.

Click on the link in my signiture to see some of them.

hey i'm sorry to ask, but is there a way you could send me one more code? The other guy that sent the code, it ended up being for the European game. Yours was the only one that worked. I got lucky and used yours but my roomate cant get on :(

He he well we're a pretty awesome team here, so stick with us. We'll help you find something fun to play!

I'd suggest a Scrapper with /Regen as your first character because they're plain out fun. They get their best powers early (in my opinion) which means you just have a good time whilst you get to grips with stuff.

Awesome. Yeah i've made a few characters on Triumph. I have a Elect/Elect blaster (kinda fun) I have a Fire/Fire Tanker (really like it but i just dont like the slow combat) I did make a scrapper that was claws/regen which i like, it seems fun but i like flashy powers :D

I did make an energy/energy blaster just to play around with it and kinda like that too.

The main thing i want is something that Looks cool, has cool powers, and is fun. Not really worried about anything other than that (atleast at this point, gotta get familiar with the game first) :D

Blasters are cool because of the damage they do but they cant take much damage, i know my Tanker gets in the mix with 4 or 5 enemies and he holds his own. I dunno its a hard decision, I wanna pick something soon and just work on it because i wanna be able to fly or have super speed :D

One of my characters already got invited into a Super Group :D

I'd say a pretty good forward thinking powerset would be Katana/Regen scrapper. They do great damage, have good survivability and with the latest update (issue 11, set to hit this fall) they'll be getting customisable weapons!

Let me add my two cents, and tell you to take your time. The first time you see or do things is the coolest. Enjoy those moments. Soon enough it is all cookie cutter stuff. But the first time. Especially things like fighting Frostfire for the first time, or Superspeeding across the highways in Skyway City, and flying to the top of the skyscrapers in Steel Canyon. But even before you get there you will be shocked when you defeat your first Canon Prince, and curse the impossible to reach 2nd base mission in the Hollows. Or even worse, that ^&*#% door in Perez Park. Oh the memories...

Lol, yeah i know exactly what you guys mean. Its always best when its new.

Except i cant even play now, I have a problem, and Tech support seems like they don't know what to do or how to fix it. I cant login to any of my characters. The "Enter Paragon City" button is gray and i cannot select it. However, i can make a NEW character and login and play, but once i log out i cant log back in.

This happened to both myself, and my roommate and this was after a problem occurred when we were trying to create a new character we got some error message that had something to do with creating the character "Error Invalid Character Creation" something i cant remember the message. and since then we have not been able to login. Both my roommate had the SAME exact problem, we've re-installed the game fresh and nothing, I know its not the computer. I keep telling them that its not the computer because we have two different computers with different specs and I'm a Computer Technician not to mention I just rebuilt this computer about 2 weeks ago. It's something with the account, its frozen the characters or something but I've been round and round with support and they seem to not know anything. The only way i can get into the game is if i create a new character and with that i Cant be to detailed in his design or i crashes the game. :( Anyone have any advice, or know anything that might help?

I just went there the same way i normally do..and the crazy thing is the password i use to log in is different from the password i have to use to login to the support section (support is some randomly generated crap)

My account says this:

There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't work. and its a very simple fix. Take my account, deactivate or otherwise clear its status, then re-activate it as a trial account again. If they would actually try to FIX it maybe i would've gone and bought the game already, but as much as i like this game, this is so frustrating! I want to play and cant. It's like dangling a Twinkie infront of Jared the Subway guy's face and laughing at him.

its not the program, i've re-installed it twice! So has my roommate. And i find it very strange that the SAME thing is happening to him. We have two different computers, both custom built, different specs, different programs. And hell he has almost nothing else running that could interfere with it.

Lastnight when i sent the petition they were actually somewhat quick about getting it to me. Its been handed over to 2 different parties. Neither of which have even contacted me to let me know they're still trying to fix it. I work for a computer company, I do tech support, i build computers, i KNOW how this stuff works LOL. If someone knows anyone thats tech support for CoH or anything could you please ask them to help. my account name is REMOVED

Also...if so, anything they do for mine they would have to do for my roommate's account also which is REMOVED.

I really want to play but the fact that i have to create a new character each time i log out is really frustrating...and if i try to make a character too detailed, it crashes. I've even given them the .zip file that the program created after the crash with all the error information.

...sigh, so upsetting. Really makes me not want to buy the game if I'm going to have this trouble, and it really sucks because i finally found a game i REALLY REALLY enjoy playing, and the "grind" for exp isn't actually boring at all!! its FUN!! :D

anyone who could offer help....i would owe you greatly!

The couple of times I have done trial accounts, I have not had this issue. So, I can tell you that it is not how a trial account normally works. In fact, if you decide you like the game and want to keep playing normally can upgrade your trial account to full status and continue with those same characters you have been playing with.

So, I am not sure why this is happening to you, but I can take a look around and see if I can find anything about it.

All I can say is keep trying and talking with support, because the game is definitely worth it.

I did some searching on the main boards for this issue and a few others have experienced this as well. Unfortunately, no one has given a resolution to the issue.

I sent a request into support in the ask a question section to see if they have any ideas as well.

I will let you know what I find out.

By the way, just because I should ask this... Are you clicking on the hero you would like to use then trying to click on enter Paragon City? I assume you would be doing that, but having done tech support, I need to sometimes check the obvious.

Also, do you have access to both City of Heroes and City of Villains or just Heroes?

(And to Big: Thanks for editing out that stuff, it was mainly for these guys I have been replying to. I know all about hackers, i used to be one in my younger days, but it was only curiosity, to see what i could do, never harmful, and that was a long time ago, so much has changed lol. giving them my account name, I wasn't too worried, I keep pretty well protected with my password. If someone can ever crack any of my passwords, i'll gladly GIVE them access to my account :D ....never been hacked yet..**knock on wood**) but I do thank you for lookin out!

yeah I'm clicking on the Hero and then enter paragon city :) but its gray.

Originally when i first activated it i believe it said i only had access to City of Villains. Now it says both.

They actually fixed the part about not being able to enter with my character but i have a new problem now. lol

when i create a new character it now asks do i want to make a "Hero" or "Villain" Now i have not tried this fully yet, but i know when my roommate clicked it, its as if you have no choice, lol. If you select Hero, you are prompted to make a character, the screen is blue as if you're trying to go into CoH. But all the arch's you have to select from and powers...are all Villain powers. You get to character creation, and you're able to change the look...but everything is villain stuff. Then once you complete, you can enter Paragon city, lol. You start out in either Atlas or Galaxy whichever you choose...and you're a VILLAIN! You look like a villain, have villain powers, ect. Now i don't know if this is normal or not...i assume it isn't. I sent them an update to the support ticket explaining this to them. Also right before this happened (when the original problem began) i would load the game, screen would be Blue, i would click to go into CoH, however if i clicked back, the screen would be red, and every server i clicked would then be red and ask if i wanted to enter Rogue Isles. Some very strange crap happening. I'm probably going to buy the game but i am so worried that if i do, the only way to fix this is to start all over with a new account. I'd hate to have to do that And I', scared that if i buy the game, and use that CD key on the existing account, that I'll upgrade...problems and all :( because if that is going to be the case i think I'd rather start a new account then have to fight with support again to try to fix it after paying for the game and time but I'd really like to keep this one if i can, but problem free! . But i do like the game, a lot! and I've only been playing it for a few days :D

Hopefully its fixed soon!

Actually...i was wrong. you select to create a new character, select hero, you're given hero powers, hero calsses and when you get to the character creation screen.....every option is villain...yet you start in the Heroes city. I just logged into one of the characters i made before...i look like a hero, my roommate logged in to his Hero..that looks like a villain, and on my end....he looks like a villain, and i look like a hero to him, but everyone else looks like a villain to him haha

i dont know what the hell is going on.

Actaully, Cr3 is correct. When you make a new char, they have the same access to villain costume sets as hero. Now, as for the other stuff...take it from a vet, these are those rare bugs that jump up to bite ya in the arse, but once you work out the quirks, stuff tends to go just right. I've had my fair share of problems, and for the most part tech support takes care of it in a big update or in an accound update. Welcome to Paragon/Rogues City (count yourself lucky, it cost me money to buy COV....just to be told that all old accounts were updated to include BOTH games), I hope you enjopy your stay, and continue to ask Q's, as you've noticed we have a pretty capable community of help here.

Yeah everything is actually working fine now.

What happened was when i first activated my Trial (same with my roommate) We ONLY had CoH content, CoV wasn't even an option at all, so of course all the content we had to use to create a character was Hero only. So for the first two days I was able to make Hero's and customize them. Then all of a sudden that bug hit, my account got screwed up. (both mine and my roommate lol..same time) Then they did whatever they did to fix it which also gave us access to CoV as well...which gave us access to all of the character customization for Villains, which i ahd not seen at all in the process during the first few days, and of course I did not know that both sides got to choose from the same stuff. (Just didn't make sense to me) And the other thing that made me not believe that when people told me was the fact that i couldn't find any of the CoH content that i was using the first two days, it seemed to be gone but it was actually just covered up and somewhat hidden by all of the new CoV content that was added.

Everything seems alright now, minus a few Mission bugs here and there that my roommate has ran into but they're probably normal glitches. I think i'm going to end up playing either an Energy Blaster or a Fire blaster...not sure yet (i do have my Fire/Fire tank that i have to lvl 6 lol..so i'll probably play that from time to time as a secondary...but one of the 2 blasters are going to be my main but i have no idea which one its going to be (probably energy blaster but i've heard that some parties dont like energy/energy blasters because the knockbacks tend to be more troublesome than its worth or that tanks hate it, lol. But it seems fun so we'll see. I like flashy powers especially if they are AoE's Damage and Dots :D

I am glad it all worked out for you both. It is definitely a game to give a chance to. I got a response back from support that said they are not allowed to discuss anyone else's account with me and to have you respond to them. Which is the right response anyway.

I have a feeling this all goes back to the changes they were making and giving everyone access to both City of Heroes and City of Villains. Let us know if you need anything in game by giving a shout on the gameamp.com global channel.
