I have seen many shields out there.
The regular -5 20% with +30 health
and a very unique -2dmg while stance -2 while enchanted.
But what I like to know is what you consider the best shield stats for your character.

Well it depends.
PvP:
HP +30
Armor+ x (vs. element)
PvE:
Basic PvE: +30, 5^20
Running: +45^stance -2^stance
Farming w/ enchants: +45^ench -2^ench

well you just named off shields with extra health and some sort of armor boost.
I guess my real question is, Would you choose another minus dmg or extra +10 armor rather than extra health?
Woof!

I would probably choose the -dmg because its global and the +armor only happens VS a certain type of dmg.

The old dual modded shields are by far the best(-2, -2) too bad they're nerfed now though. If you can find one for cheap, get one. Right now I just use -2 in stance, and +30 for my war since I use frenzy a lot(w/cancel stance ofc).
quit gw for good. end of story.

Well technically speaking, you can have both.
But If I had to choose, I would choose -dmg.

So I'm guessing everyone likes the extra health.
What makes the extra health so much better then the extra -dmg?

Extra health counters degen and is better for high armor targets (typically warriors). -dmg is better for overall reduction but has been just -2 PHYSICAL damage. +armor is great for softer targets and good for countering specific types of damage. If you practice enough you can effectively swap to counter the damage you know will hit you (ie. slashing, blunt, elements, piercing, etc.).
A +30hp and +10 armor vs xxxx is best over all if you can manage it. (at least in pvp).
Then there are the +60hp while hexed and +45hp while enchanted which are really good vs hex heavy or build specific.

well, i usually use shields with -2 in something with a build that can keep up that -2 damage all/most of the time. On a warrior/paragon, it will generally take more than 15 hits to kill you. +30 hp gives you a 30 hp buffer, but once you get hit more than 15 times, you have saved more hp than the +30 you would have gotten otherwise.
-2 damage doesn't sound like much at all, but in the long run it adds up to a lot more saved hp than the extra 30 hp an hp bonus shield will give you.

i got one of those nerfed extinct -2 -2 shields :P ornate wooden buclker r9 tacts, if anyone is interested.....PM :)
when i go HA/GVG i always take various shields that have +10armor vs X, aswell as the -33% cripple at gvg if we might play on the fire island.
in pve i mostly only use +30 -5 and +45 -2(ench + stance) depending on what i am usin.

For PvE:
+30/-5 20%
Why? Because there is too much damage to take just one shield and be set to go.
For PvP:
+30/+10 armor vs X
I take 1 shield with +10 armor for each type of damage because generally there is normally only 1-3 different types of damage that can actually be effected by armor in a group so yea. Mostly slashing, lightning and peircing.
Nice idea with the Blind 20%, forgot that that even existed.

Yeah, I'm still in HB mode from last night. I don't know what's wrong with me, but after playing monk for several hours I always mess something up when I try to play frontline again.

there are no "best sheild stats", Sure there are perfect ones. All in all it depends on what you are doing. PvE warrior, sure use the -5 20% & +30. If you are farming I tend to like in stance or enchanted ones. My monk currently has health +30 and reduce daze on it...just cause i find that useful. When I GvG I use, mods against fire, lightning, water, reduced cripple, reduced bleeding, reduced daze. those are all nice for anything else but if you are a warrior switch daze out for blind. But I assume because this is mainly pve forum that it is for pve.
edit: ew my signature that was like 10 months ago PUKE GvG is ftw now.
