| Awesome new changes to CoX! |

Well if you have been reading the official forums, you have probably already heard this, but NCSoft has now fully purchased the rights to the CoX franchise from Cryptic Studios. What does this mean to us, you ask? Some very cool things will be happening to this game we play.
First: Coming with the release of I11, there will be a complete debt wipe for all characters on all currently active accounts.
Second: There will be a prestige bonus of 20,000 granted for each member of your SG. That means the largest SG's could recieve a bonus of up to 3 million prestige.
Last (definitely not least): All players who currently own only one side (either CoH or CoV) will be granted full access to both sides of the CoX universe.
Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. The official announcement for this can be found on the official website here

About the people who only have one or the other getting the other game for free...
What about those of us who actually bought both games? We should be rewarded for that, not punished by everyone who didn't do it getting a free game...

Hell, I paid for both CoH and CoV as well as Good vs. Evil pack, so I've paid for the games and paid for the Pocket D port & jump pack! :P

I realize that you may feel cheated by the fact that people who didn't pay for the game like you did are getting it for free, but I disagree that you are being punished because of it.
First of all, you have the advantage of already having toons on both side that are higher level, this is not as sizable an advantage as it was before the market with money flowing more easily down to lower toons that way, but it is a benefit when you make new toons.
Second, with every retail version of the game you bought you were giving a free month of play time. I realize that this might not fully reimburse your expense, but it is a reward that the people who have been granted access freely will not get.
Third, granting free access to both sides will increase the player base that you can team with. While you might not enjoy teaming up as much as I do, I really appreciate this fact. I get discouraged from playing the game when I am unable to find enough people to team with, free access will allow for more people to play on both sides. Now many of my friends that had previously had access to only one side can team with me on whatever side I decide to play.
Fourth, while you feel as though you have been cheated, I feel great knowing that CoV can now be considered on equal terms with CoH. Past updates have noticeably granted more heroside than to villains, and understandably so. There had simply been a much larger player base in CoH that could not access CoV. Things such as villain content and the Epic Villain Archetypes were overlooked in favor of content that both sides (more players) could enjoy. By unlocking access like they have, there is now no reason to argue that heroes need more than villains do simply because there are more of them.
Also, the move over to NCSoft will allow for a larger development team and larger funding for future updates. So what this all means to me is that CoV will now get the equal attention it deserves, and long sought-after things like the villain EAT's are likely to come soon.
If you still feel cheated, and if it will make you feel better, know this. The free access to both sides is a one-time gift. New players who only buy one side will not have access to both. The sides have been equalized, and now life will return to relative normalcy, where people must buy both versions if they want access to both sides.

I hear ya Space....and I even agree with some of your points/position...however, it's still not looking good in my eyes. I bought all the expansions and both games, and now they are being given away....I'd like to get a special Accolade (that actually provides some type of special boost/effect) or something signifying the appreciation for shelling out the extra money early on to help their bottom line. I mean, isn't that what they essentially did for those that didn't have access to both sides??? What about the ones that already had access, what special something did we get??? (and I really don't team alot so, a bigger player pool doesn't excite me).
Now, as for the EATs....when I see them, I'll believe in them. There's still a ways they'll have to go to make sure that both sides are "even".

Well, guys, I know that it would be nice to get something 'extra' for our forethought in buying all the Editions and such, but for now it isnt going to happen. As SpaceTrooper said we got a free month each time we bought an Edition plus we have been able to play those parts of the game when others have not. Also to the best of my knowledge, the GvE goodies are not a part of the deal here. So, you do have that over the rest of the 'unwashed heathen'. Just because people will be given the 'other side' of the game this once to commemorate the creation of the NorCal Studios and acquisition of the IPV, doesnt mean that they are denigrating our 'early adoption' of both sides. It may seem like a slight for now, but in the long term the whole situation is a Win-Win for both types of subscriber.
Besides when GvE came out, I'm pretty sure that I posted in these forums that this was inevitable and a good thing. Actually, i expected to see the consolidation of the game come with the 'aborted' release of the proposed Retail Box that had been scheduled for this past January.
From what i read on the OB's; there are some big things a-comin' in our dear dilapidated Isles, and this small slight will be forgotten for the addition of 'Really Wild Stuff' as Zaphod would say.

i aggree with everyone. maybe people should get a "little" somethin' somethin' extra for thier loyalty and funding. i want to be the first to suggest a costume piece. somethin' distingushing like a braided headband, leg warmers, or sweaterskirts.
as for increasing the player base all i can say is that it's about time. the more the merrier. soloing blows most of the time in my opinion. and EATs for villains *drooling* .......... yes please!!

I am so very happy I spent the $10 to allow me to play COV for two years. And now I am happy a whole bunch of new players to team with because they will be allowed to visit the isles too. I think that is a great gift. I don't need anything extra.
I am already swimming in extras due to all the veteran awards. Yesterday I was actually feeling like a cheat when I created a new toon and I was blasting my Nemesis staff at those cute snakes.
So, all in all, they are "Awesome new changes to CoX!"
