Any thoughts?

I've always been a fan of the paladin-type classes, but I took a Warrior/Necromancer through the beta and really liked it. The only problem with combining melee and arcane professions is the warrior's lack of magic points. So I think next time around I'll focus more on melee with just a few supportive spells, or maybe sub ranger for ranged attack instead.

I think I'm going to stick with the Elementalist / Monk I played... I really like nuker classes.

i played a ranger/elementalist and really liked the sheer damage it dealt (excluding warriors, did about 20 to them). think i might change my elementalists type from fire to water when game is released

i've really never got how to get attributes except by leveling. (played pvp 95% of the time so might be wrong on alot). but if you spend your 200points would you be out of luck on another line you wish to put attributes in. or is there a way to get alot more then 200?

As of Beta there wasn't anyway to get more than 200 points...
Though I'm wondering how much they'll change when the game goes live. I certainly don't hope they leave the level cap at 20!

i'm not to concerened about the lvl cap. i actually kinda like it. since i had played eq for about 2 years and got to lvl 65 finally, and then these newbs that played it 4 months pass me adn asking me to help them gets kinda annoying (plus they dont know what they are doing most the time).
i think they should just change it where you could get skills up besides leveling. So you could max out all of the skills, and then be able to do some crazy skill combinations.

You can't (or at elast couldn't) get any more than 200 points for attributes @ lvl20. But if you spent all your points and realized you wanted to put some in some other discipline, there's a "refund" point pool that builds as your experience goes up. During the last Beta weekend, at lvl8 or so, I had 24 refund points. Which means I could essentially "undo" 24 spent points, and put them in something else.

refunding points is a good idea so you cant perminatly mess up you char from begining, but somewhere i heard that if you refund points you lose some of them, like if i refunded 24 i might get back 20 ( or something to that effect). Not sure if that is true or not, heard from a unreliable irl friend.
anyone know if that was true?

Perhaps in a previous BWE, but in this last one it was point-for-point.

good to hear that we dont lose points for an early game mistake. hope they dont change it. well everyone sooner or later will prolly trade in skills since ones with new expansions will prolly be better, or be better for the build.

I think ele/mes is a good combination. ele for energy burning and mass damage, and mes for energy stealing. It will have a small hp pool, but a large mp pool (ele). The only thing whats bad about this class is that u get owned BADLY by huge mobs. When you have a good tank in front of you this could be a very good class
Hero Amun Ra --> Ele/Ran lvl 17
Sjaak --> Meleandru's Stalker lvl 16
Kitabatake Tomomori --> Ran lvl 5

I like my E/Me. Lots of energy. i use a mix of Elementalist and Mesmer skills. How do people get along without backfire to shutdown a healer?
Refund point work like this. It cost you 1 refund point for each rank you remove from an attribute. Example: You have 9 in Fire; you use 1 refund point to drop it to 8. You get back 11 attribute points to put into something else.
Every 250EXP you gain a refund point for a maximum of 24.

Necro/Mesmer. Great combo, probably the best in the game,
PvP, or Roleplaying, this guy has it all.
I am Bloodmagic,Curses/Domination,illusion
Simply the best.

My most favorite(and best) profession would HAVE to be an elementalist.
Elementalists are the only really DPS needed in PvP, and IMO, don't try to argue with that, try 4 monks 4 elementalists and see how it works, and try to get air elems mixed in with mesmer secondaries.I have seen a group of 4 monks and 4 eles win in hall of heroes.
Anyway, I like elementalists because I always loved spell casters. The sheer power of spells and the cool effects, thats my intrest.

I can agree, Elementalist skills are very good. But you got to have differend classes in PvP, There are always skills to shutdown any class. Good example is backfire vs a monk. Your monk wouldnt be able to heal anymore. So its facing certain death. it think the best classes are Ele/Ran and Nec/Mes or Mes/Nec. Always have a tank in front of you. Somethink like are war/ele or a war/monk, somethink who can stand a good blow. Just have a mixed party, thats is a stays best for PvP

I don't have a favorite job. I honestly don't believe there is one single "best" job in the game either. I find that the people who are the best at what they do are the ones who really enjoy that job and its skills and focus on creating a good skill set. There may be a few dominant combinations to defeat a single enemy type, but other enemies would prove impossible to kill.
*shrugs* I prefer caster types, but I love my warrior meat shields, too.

There isnt really a 'best' one, but i find one of the better ones is Necro/Elementalist (fire)
I just love the way that if you max out blood magic and fire then cast the firey restoration thing you can steal quite a bit of health, and get hp for casting the spell! the only way thats been countered before for me is when i was bundled by massive evil people x.x

I am using a warrior/monk combo, but in a way that I think is different than most people. I specialized him to smiting magic only so that my guy is geared almost totally to offense. If you do missions with a healer or a healer hench, this makes life a lot better as it lets you really unload quickly on a foe and stops a lot of bosses from chain healing. Just my opinion, but this is the combo I like best so far.

So far for me, I really like the necro/ranger combination .. and my second favorite is elemen/mes. I have always been more into the casting then the hands on. Still get my EX but most of the time I remain safe in the back. What is everyone's take on a warrior/ranger or ranger/elementist? Just curious for when I create my new character - red

N/Me all the way!
I'm specialized in Blood/Inspiration/soul reaping(only 6)
Alone, I'm not the deadlyest, but with a good group, I just
cut all casters' resources: I guess it's just funny to see them go nuts when they realize they're useless... I can also stand a warrior decently for a moment with health stealing spells so I really love this build cuz it's polyvalent.
GW:
-Artalas Foribir : W/E20 (shocking swordman)
-Mephisto the Necro : N/Me20 (fuel leaker)
-Me Unforgiven : Mo/W20 (Invicimonk...old lol)
