| old people have crap computers |

so, i get in a car for 5 hours, heaing to visit grandparents in upstate NY for the weekend (of course bringing GW with me since i have plenty of free time). i get here and install it, only to find out the graphics card on their computer is an nvidia VANTA. FFS. ruined my weekend
moral of the story? if youre going to visit relatives, call ahead and ask what graphics card they have ^^

same, but they got their computer recently, so i was expecting atleast the minimum reqs for gw. -.-

at least you still have amp and the rant section is back woot :D
i had to cycle 5 miles at temperatures below 0 degrees c yesterday morning :( and 5 miles back. and google tool bar cant spell temperatures but the search engine can.

It truly depends on the person. My father is 69 and his computer can run just about anything out right now. Dial-up isn't that bad. I'd never go back to it cause surfing the web and downloading updates sucked but playing games I never lagged that part usually has to do with your ISP or your own computer. I never got on bnet with anything more than 1 green bar when I was on dial-up and use to laugh at others on DSL when it came to games their ISP really stunk and they were real laggy.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

dial up makes me cry with sad...as ive stated many times if i had dial up again i would shoot myself, the computer or both ***points to 12 guage in the corner***
And ya know the sad part...my MOM doesnt even use the computer, my dad has to check his email for work so he uses it a bit, he has email in there from like zomg 2 years ago? So yeah...I totally feel your pain. We go visit my fiances family over holiday and his mother has an old POS from like 1995 and theres no gaming for dru. We have our laptops but with no decent net connection it doesnt make sense to try and play MMOs..
TOTALLY feelin your pain.

Like I said I had dial-up and game play isn't a lot of difference depending on who the ISP is. I never lagged once with it. The biggest difference you will notice between the two will be from downloading updates (which are big packets) and web surfing. actually playing the game information is sent in small packets that depends more on how fast your computer reads the packets and what firewalls the info has to pass.
Trust me DSL on AOL is ten times worse playing games than most dial-ups.
But really I have a good ISP and the comps I've had have always been fast enough that when using dial-up and now on DSL my gaming experience hasn't changed as I still don't lag but thank goodness the updates don't take forever anymore.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.
