k, i'm just going to name the one that i believe is the most ineffective at getting it's point accross. this commercial can be frequently seen on Much Music / MTV.
\"Flick Off\" commercials to me are completely useless at getting people interested in actually saving power and the earth. i've seen more and more young people with their shirts where it looks like it's saying "Frack Off" instead of Flick.
what a pointless slogan/logo, the only reason it's popular is because it looks like you're wearing something profane, and "supporting" the environment, but you're really not. their such rebels though! LOL.
all you're really supporting is the payments going to the celebs that appear in those commericals so they can buy another Hummer or Bentley that gets less than 10mpg in fuel economy. talk about hypocrits.
what's really hilarious is the shirts are black, which take the most resouces to make out of any monotone textile.
i'm sure everyone has a commercial they're thinking is completely stupid, if you have links, post em!

Oh my god don't get me started.
I have those damn doll commercials. I hate the way they advertise them.
Slap a cute dress and catchy song on and you have a 5-year-old banging their head against a wall screaming for a doll.

hmm. I dont like the commercial whatdafuxup. I also don't like those commercials for sh*t like natural male enhancement and the commercials were you see this beautiful couple/family riding along a empty stretch of straight road in some brand new '08 Toyota Highlander or whatever. I got nothing against the car or the company but the commerical makes me mad jealous of people who get to ride in those empty stretches of road. I live in the southern(i.e better) half of New York and believe me, you will never see a stretch of road that empty. or smooth for that matter. or that clean actually.

Since I either download or tivo shows, I don't see commercials that much.
But I will contribute this:
Reality Shows. I'm sure I'm not the minority here when I say Reality Television Shows are crap.
First off, it's not Reality. MTV Real World, all those dating shows, etc do not depict real life in any way. The actors will bleed if shot, that's about the only reality.
Second, they're all the same. How many Survivors are there? American Idol has gone on for too long, and now there's tons of offshoots. Like the Karoke thing that one Backstreet or N'sync guy is hosting.

Oh, yes, the reality shows are horrible. There's so many, it's ridiculous and provides no originality. I actually like one (and only one) though: Beauty and the Geek...heard of it? It's pretty amusing.

Ugh, last time I was involved with FLICK OFF on amp, it turned into a major flamefest, so I wont get into that.
But yeah, reality T.V. shows? They arent real, just a bunch of teenage pri-madonnas birching about their opportunitive life and showing how spoiled they are.

I really hate the loan/mortgage adverts that have everything in black and white except some random parts, with all the suicidal whistling 'music' in the background. Hate 'em. =P
I really like the adverts that aren't trying to supply the reader with loads of completely useless information, such as food/drink adverts or movie previews. They're actually nice to watch.

I dont like the new geico commercials with the classic TV spoofs...they are lame.
Head on is SOOOOOO annoying...totally agree. TEN!!!
As for other annoying commercials, mostly they are just local ones on cable so I would mention them but you guys would have no idea what im talking about. One in particular is a bunch of hoochi girls trying to sell Cricket cell phone service and they say "Cricket Elmwood BABY" or Cricket whatever BABY. SOOO annoying, probably cause they are so ghetto whore looking....

the fact i work in advertising and know that people don't work for free and anyone can be paid to say anything... particularly celebs. trust me, we sponser professional athletes and events throughout canada, it's all about $$$, not about saving the planet in their case. but hey, BS sells really well.
Ralph Schumacher from Formula 1 racing did a commercial for animal rights, then it was taken off the air after he was 'caught' hunting... that's silly too because hunting is a natural balance, i'm not talking about poaching or anything, but give the guy a break... he was speaking about animal cruelty.
where i live there's an over abundance of deer, the conservation office in this province actually encourages us hunters to shoot more deer as it reduces the chances of widespread disease and starvation amongst the deer population.
before i took marketing and business i was going to be a conservation officer (game warden) and am an avid sportsman.
in regards to how advertising works, hey, it's what i'm doing now from that marketing and business mumbo jumbo in college (along with a certified meat cutting course because i love hunting/fishing). etc.

I actually do have a pair of em, SUPER comfortable. Just had to remove the label saying it was a 501 jean so I didnt get mocked. Stupid high school :P

In Australia there was (or perhaps still is) an ad with maybe 20 or so chicks (hot ones mind you) dancing around in underwear. It was a fantastic ad, it had great..camera angles, and lots of...dance moves, and who can forget the underwear!
I would say the as sold 0 pairs of undies and bras, but it sure kept every male in his seat.

everything selling diapers, tampons, washing up liquid etc....booooring (altho there are studys that show that those commercials are the most effective ones, atleas where i live) pretty much makes me puke.......
