Girls that support fantasy and games rock.

I don't mean to boast or anything, but i've got a pretty sweet deal going on here. Anytime you have a girlfriend or just girl-friend that supports your love for fantasy movies and video games has to get a bonus 2-3 points out of 10. =)

Meet my pre-birthday present, a carbon-steel 300 sword, yes i tested it out in the snow on an inch thick tree-branch and it zipped right through! i then moved up to a branch that's about as thick as a person's arm bone, again, zip, right through. i love it! it's visciously sharp and the steel is savagely strong.

it serves no real purpose, as a friend who isn't into fantasy stuff like that looked at it and asked... 'why would you need a sword that can cut through trees?'

answer, i don't but it's still fun to have.

it's now hanging above my TV and the wife thinks it's awesome, though she can't swing it near as spartan-ish as i can. :P

this is basically a tribute and thank you to any gals out there that like fantasy collectables and video games. you rock and any guy that's got you is lucky to have you.

ps. watching a girl bash something with a sword is kinda hot.

RE: Girls that support fantasy and games rock.

Even though she gives me a rough way to go sometimes, my wife is pretty understanding with my video game, and at one point, DnD, addiction. She occasionally plays video games herself (if you'll count Diner Dash), but her big thing is 80's B-raters. Plus, she's in the Army and I think that's totally hot; I always liked the thought of a woman who could kick my arse.

I'm thinking about asking her for one of the Spartan helmets (read about it in Wizard) for my upcoming birthday or Christmas. Sure, I prolly couldn't wear it, but so what, it'd be awesome all the same!!

All hail the strong women who support their boyfriends'/husbands' geekdom!!!!!!

Edit: Freakin sweet arse sword, too!!

"Daddy, why do we have a bloodstained sword above the fire place instead of family pictures?"

"Oh no reason, no reason at all"

:P

We wonder, "Why?" when we lose friends, and there are never any good answers.

No no no!
Its supposed to be:

"Its the sword I slayed a whole Persian army with, son. I want you to have it. So when someone tries to break into the house you can whack their arm off."

Yeah...for me, if anyone tries to rob my house, they get a crazy fat guy in a black robe waving a long sword and screaming(as loud as possible), 'FOR GLORY!!!' whom then proceeds to ramble on about using his entrails as ribbons for Christmas present wrappings and, of course, left over entrails make good cold intestine sandwiches.

On-Topic: I sorta-maybe envy you. Yes, a spartan carbon-steel sword is bad-ass, but, I'm saving for Ramirez's Katana and of course the Master Sword...of course I'm still planning to make my own eventually...anyway, kudos to you :)

RE: Girls that support fantasy and games rock.

My wife and I and the kids went to Gatlinburg,TN. last summer, and for those who have never been, it's a great place to find movie-themed swords, martial arts weapons/literature and whatnot; it's like a big open mall along the strip, with a Hard Rock Cafe. She offered to buy Gimli's Axe for me, but I was trying to find Achilles' helm, as seen in "Troy", but chose it'd be best not to get.

But, now that things have become a bit more finacially stable, I might be able to talk her into it.

Plus, for any of those interested in authentic weaponery, as found in movies/TV, there's a knife company outside of Gatlinburg that tends to sell such weaponry. Clicky I haven't been there in a couple of years, but they've had in the past, for example, Rambo's field knife and Blade's Daywalker sword (I think that's what it's called.)

Smooth, I get that magazine at my house! That is the best place ever. I have yet to visit it cuz I'm way up in Maine. But I love all the replicas in there. I was guna buy my boyfriend one, but i'd hafta buy another for me cuz I'd prolly get jealous of him.

EDIT:
oh, an on-topic, I love the sword, I would collect stuff like that but I need a place to showcase it..
