So, Anyone get any purples yet?

I was running a Seige AV arch and happened across an absolute amazement very rare recipe... anyone else get any random purples?

Yeah, it was a stun/recharge (disorient set), I checked WW and the previous one went for 40 mil, so I guess we'll see what it ends up going for, won't be using it myself. It was definitely unexpected.

I've gotten 3 so far. Prices haven't balanced out, and I'm still not 100% sure I want to sell them as opposed to using them. If the price is high enough, though....

Suffice to say that because of all the new recipes available in Pool A (the common drop pool, drops from any kill) I'm going to be doing alot of farming. I'm on Virtue as always, so if someone wants a PL, I don't mind having them along on my farms. Just send a tell to Blazing Peace or @Warron Peace for more info. I'm particularly fond of PLing farm builds, such as Fire/Kin, Spine/Dark, and possibly Spine/Willpower, so if you have to roll a new toon to partake of the Virtue goodness, those are good options. =D

was checking out some of the purples and is it just me or do they all seem to offer the same set bonuses?

i don't know maybe my PC took to long to reload the info that kinda stuff has happened before.

They do offer a lot of the same bonuses. It's mostly good stuff though. High bonuses, too.

I haven't seen any yet. And yes, they do only drop at level 50. I'll go on with Scotch later and run some missions. Maybe I'll get lucky. :)

in my humble opinion, i don't see what the big deal about the rare IO sets are. if you slot just one they are in essence the same as hamis only selling for 4-10x the price. big deal. if you slot multiple ones, the set bonuses are no worth the 100's of millions you'll pay to either buy the io or make it. no matter how high the bonuses you're still going to run into ED so these rares could have 45% bonuses for 2 traits but you'll still top out at having slotted for that trait 3 times. whooopy-do!

p.s. i hope im wrong about the ED thing but i havent read anywhere saying that these purples are an exception to that rule. if i am wrong (and i would love to be about this) please let me know so that i can start saving and inf xfering :D

I think they might be the exception to the rule. I want to say I read that somewhere, but I could be mistaken. That would be why they are "super rare".

No, ED still caps out the enhancement value. However, these sets are designed with that in mind, and you can get up to 102% enhancement from the completed sets, taking into account ED. This is far more than normal IOs and SOs could produce. Then there are the set bonuses, which are *not* bound by ED. I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but I know that the bonuses are high. Very High, at least compared to other set bonuses. Add in the fact that these bonuses do not disappear when exemplared, and you have a very valuable set of enhancements. You remain at full power, regardless of level. This may not affect the everyday retired level 50 character, but for people who like to run various task forces, not to mention PvP, this is a great thing.

Okay, I've gotta argue that. The base values of the enhancements are affected by the exemplar level, for every level down you go, every level the enhancement looses value. The max cap of what is possible won't stay that way because the base drops when you're exmped. I dont know what the bonuses can potentially add up to, but I do know that they can only stack 4 times. I highly doubt that you can retain a max value or surpass it only on the bonus. I've exemp'ed with Big to help a friend at lvl 5, and I've gotta say, it suckes when the enhancement values on are about 11% instead of the +80% I had. I seriously doubt that bonuses even from those rare sets are enough to counter that. That and when you exemp and loose a power, you loose the set bonus associated with it. You don't loose enhancement slots with exemp'ing, but the loss of the power removes the benifit from the set associated with it.

Big Chill is a conscranker: he conrols a mob so they do nothing, scraps a target till they can't stand, and tanks what's left till the job's done.

Not trying to sound stupid though i know i am ...

been afg (away from game) for a few months prior to a couple a weeks ago and my acronyms (spelling??) knowledge is apparently not up to date.

What the hell is ED ?

i was following the conversation here till everyone started talking in code...

...like when my wife and some other person who was also from Manhattan get together you need some sort of Binary Degree to understand what they are saying. "Oh yeah on 42nd and 3rd: 34th and 5th"

I actually loved the other part of your post a lot more, but let me answer this part. ED stands for Enhancement Diversification. It was introduced with I5 or I6, I think. Prior to ED you could put 6 the same enhancements in one power (like 6 dmg or 6 heal). With the arrival of ED the percentage gain after the third enhancement drop significantly. If you dig through the forum archives you will be able to dig up some very heated discussions on the issue.

You almost DO need a degree in mathematics to understanding Enhancements after ED.

Thank you Phe and Ron the conversation now makes more sense. Also, I know no one said anything, just want to make sure not to upset everyone...

...I wasn't knocking on anyone other than myself, posted on another forum last week and thought if i used a humorous approach it would lighten the mood of the thread and it just ended up in a bunch of people getting pissed at me so just wanted to clearify that. (and no it wasn't GA you guys are usually pretty cool)

Back on topic:

So i've been putzing around on a trial till i can purchase a game card for my original account, so i haven't put much stock or effort in researching a majority of purples. Just curious while the bonuses seem cool from the set, are there any limitations on how many diff sets a character can have?

cause just thinking alot of the set bonuses are the same and having two diff sets going with the same bonuses would start to be insane (as well as expensive)

That's why they're selling for like 110 Million and whatnot. Crazyness.

Update: I've killed a LOT of Rikti. Probably 20-30 missions worth on Unyielding with one "filler" so spawned with 2 people. Most of the spawns were 7-9 baddies per spawn with minions and lieutenants. No purples. I've racked up over 62000 prestige for my supergroup though, so kudos there, and lots of influence in generic recipe sales. I did get 1 draconic wing drop, which I sold for about 100,000 influence. But still no purples. *sigh*

I got a Hecatomb Dam/Rech (melee damage) from two runs in a behemoth demon farm mish. Sold for 40 mil.

From what I've been able to observe about the price of rare salvage needed for crafting these purple recipes, the prices haven't changed much at all hero side, which is not what I expected at all. People must have been hoarding them in anticipation. Pre-crafted purple IO's are hard to come by as well.

I'm up to 4 drops for purples now. I have gotten one from the hold set, two from pet dmg and one other not particularily useful set for my toon. Anyone know if there is a higher or lower % chance of what type of purple will drop? I was hoping to get some melee or ranged dmg ones.

How do you get Pre-crafted IO's of any sort??

When I'm doing my shopping at WW, I'll always check for Pre-crafted IO's that sell for a lot less than me purchasing the recipe and then paying to craft the IO. However, at some point didn't someone have to pay to craft the IO.

Are there Pre-crafted IO drops and I've just been unlucky or do the developers seed WW with these pre-crafted IO's?

Someone did have to craft it. A lot of times it was someone looking to get the badges for crafting the generic ones. Sometimes it's people selling them after doing a respec and not needing them anymore. Other times it's people crafting them FOR sale, but for some reason they usually sell for less than the sum of the parts.
