I miss the old days

I miss the old days,

When stuff was hard. When that 3k exp from galrath was well worth it. When THK was next to impossible to beat. When it was hard to use henchmen to beat RoF missions.

The game has gotten easier folks and it makes it less fun. It was a while ago when they made the doppleganger easier to beat... I'm pretty sure it was in the update log. Make what easier? He was a chump to begin with and now you're going to make ascention easier? Bleh!

I just did Galrath with a group... it took abotu 20 minutes because we started from hot springs... there was close to no challenge at all. We moved swiftly through without any troubles at all. It's depressing xD.

Not too long ago I was looking for a fun but annoying challenge to I decided to take my monk back to THK to see how peopel were fairing there. Sure enough when we got in things seemed a bit off. It was easy as crap... I thought maybe it was just my imagination but it was insanely easy..

Easy like... I wasn't wearing infused armor at one point (oops) and still survived the mursaat. Easy like our group was runing around like chickens with their heads cut off inside the keep... and we still won xD.

It's depressing... I know there is Hardmode there now but that's no reason to make the main game as easy as it is xD. Besides that it's pretty hard to get groups for hardmode missions (I've found anyway) and It's just beefed up opponants.

I miss it ;'(

Getting 3k from a quest like Galrath seems reasonable... but in Cantha you can get 3k... for doing basically the same quests as in pre searing..

"Oh teh noez! this person! talk to dem... then coem bak and talk to me... now talk to them again! Aren't you glad there aren't any enemies to make this challenging? here's 3k exp!!"

BORING!

... PvP rawks xD

I really like PvE, but once things get to easy, I switch and own me some noobs. Most of the time though I am getting myself stuck in the fire. xD

RE: I miss the old days

I have had this same general discussion with my guildies from time to time. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the Galrath quest. I remember when doing it was a real pain and helping out repeatedly with it as something nice to do when really bored. Now you can go through it in no time, without a problem, and without needing any help what so ever. I remember back when Willa the Unpleasant was almost impossible to beat in Abaddon's Mouth, now you can plow right through her. The dumbing down of the game has made many things in it less fun however I still find it an enjoyable game over all to play. Don't give up on it.. I mean after all eventually aNet will nerf enough skills to make everything hard again. :)

RE: I miss the old days

I still enjoy playing Guild Wars, but then again, I have a group of people that I usually hang with that's real good for doing Tombs, UW, FoW, or the rest of the Elites in the game. We just chat, kill stuff, and have a few laughs. Occasionally we pick up someone new to run with us. Of course, whether or not they can stand our level of insanity is fun to see. :-p

RE: I miss the old days

Ya see, during the Prophecies age, the game was not only freaking epic, it was new so everyone was still getting used to things, and it was the only campaign out so EVERYONE was there. Now, with new skills, experienced players, and people so spread out that henchies is a bigger option, it IS going to be easier...sadly. T_T

RE: I miss the old days

idd i miss the good old hard quests too, the run talk run talkrun get reward quests are just dumbening.

but what i miss the most from the good old days is the salvage system ,wich was based on luck where you were never sure you got the +30hp or the sup Vigor. most of the times you got materials instead.

imo that's what kinda ruined the whole weapon econemy, it's just flooded with max mods and everthing dropped in price.

well that's what i miss the most and since the damage is done i think changing back, and in example tying your salvages to titles for % would be nice, wouldn't help.

ahh well the good old days :)

I miss cappin 100 blades being an awesome achievement cos u could only get it off undead rurik.

I have to say I was never into PvP until PvE got easy. It's not a challenge anymore :(

RE: I miss the old days

I miss the times that the ectos were expensive as hell..Like when u finally got youre precious FoW armor after a few months farming , then u can show; ''I'm finnally one of the experienced guys of the game (Just for example)''. These days it's like; ''What? U dont have FoW armor?! Whaha what a NOOB! Youre nothing anymore if at least 1 of you're characters have an FoW...It's not fun anymore, because a lot of FoW wearers are just....noobs.

RE: I miss the old days

i miss the good old skill reward quests most. in prochpecies like most of the quests you did got a decent skill. meant you didnt have to farm just to get a decent skill.
in NF though i had to spend ages just gettin money for my derv build.

or those times wg=hen it was harder to farm cuz skills changed so often or drops lowered all the time.
when that first 15k was an acheivment not proof of 10 hours farming.

RE: I miss the old days

Me too.

I miss having a bunch of MMs that outnumber real people 200 to 1 (exxageration, (sp?)).

I miss skill rewards too.

I remember when doing galrath meant you had 4k experience, FOUR THOUSAND! that seemed like so much, now its like, 4k? big deal i can go farm that in thirty seconds (exxageration).

I miss when 15k armor was prestigious. It meant, yeah, i kick more ass than you.

I miss ppl getting a lvl 1 ele ran to grotto, who had better armor than me.

I miss Troll cave farming, i just did it for fun.

I miss the casual player, not the "uberleeets" we have surrounding us today.

I miss spirit bond.

I miss ectos and shards being worth something.

I miss how no one fucking plays with other people! henches are the new Pug.

I miss how fun it used to be, how SF and Tombs were more fun to do than FoW/UW.

I miss how even staffs like Galigord's stone staff are worth zero, zip, nada.

I miss Pre-Searing and perma pres.

I miss when people who played on a war and took all the aggro, even if they died, but ended up killing a few in the process, didn't get yelled at and called noobs.

I miss how people used to have a chance to get good at HA and pvp in general.

I miss how ANets overall goal was to make the game more fun, not screw over the majority of the population because of one stupid ass farmspot.

Overall, i miss the creativity that used to exist in the world, me and my friend came up with over 50 sin builds (some worked some didnt) and the social interaction between players, between you and me, alesia is really not talkative enough.

RE: I miss the old days

After reading this thread...which has some very good points in it...and the day that i have had today, I now can't get this damn song out of my head.

Don't you remember
The fizz in a pepper
Peanuts in a bottle
At ten, two and four
A fried bologna sandwich
With mayo and tomato
Sittin' round the table
Don't happen much anymore

We got too complicated
It's all way over-rated
I like the old and out-dated
Way of life

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

I love my records
Black, shiny vinyl
Clicks and pops
And white noise
Man they sounded fine
I had my favorite stations
The ones that played them all
Country, soul and rock-and-roll
What happened to those times?

I'm readin' Street Slang For Dummies
Cause they put pop in my country
I want more for my money
The way it was back then

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

Give me a flat top for strumming
I want the whole world to be humming
Just keep it coming
The way it was back then

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I'm down with that
Well it meant you had the flu
I miss back when
I miss back when
I miss back when

Well I wish I had a nickel, For every time I fell and blamed somebody else
I'd give a ton of money to the ones I’ve hurt, And I’d still be sittin' pretty well

I've spent years losin' touch of what's right and what's real Caught up in these missions of my own
And you're tellin' me you think I’ve done so damn well While we're sittin' here a thousand miles from home

There's a hole in your wisdom, a hole in your sky
Two holes in your head where the light's supposed to get by

RE: I miss the old days

i miss minion factory in HA,
getting owned at thunderhead,
having a necro or mesmer run healing in RoF because there were no monks,
playing for fun and not competition.

honestly, factions was the beginning of the end for GW. either they could expand the pve world with the same number of skills, destroying pvp in the process, or add more skills and weaken pve

RE: I miss the old days

Pre Nightfall Guild Wars was probably one of the most unique and fun games I have ever played in my life and the game was basically perfect for me. Post Nightfall guild wars but before EOTN was honestly the worst period of guild wars for me...everything sucked after I beat the game. Now I think EOtn brought some of the fun back but not to the same place it was to start.

RE: I miss the old days

I've read these before, and on aditional (more or less) topics which connect with this issue also have heard these remarks.

I say: If you really want that time back, then why when I went to THK not so long ago or when I asked in All-Chat: "Does anybody feel like doing a THK, for fun..." I got more remarks that mission s*cks because it's too long, then these things...

I grieve for the past also yes...

But I'm also happy to see what other Campaigns brought:
-An active Faction vs. Faction Battleline
-PvE Exclusive skills
-New Pets, (okay not allway's)Skills
-Heroes (not everybody likes these tough =P)
-...

Onwards, but not forgetting where we came from... as newbie's in Ascalon Dis.X ^^

I remember when the Galrath quest was 4k exp...they knock it down? Also it was hard as heck, The whole group would be at -60dp trying to get up that hill to get to Galrath.

man i loved pve pvp because you actually had to work for your skills instead of buying them so easily with factions

I understand there were also arenas in every major city, LA, HoD, Amnoon and Droks as well?

I think they were done like right before i started playing and went over to the PvP islands?

THAT'S IT!
every account (with prophecies) gets a free character slot, for 1 month long. Now you can't get to other campaigns with this character, only to prophecies. With all people in Pre again, it will bring back memories and maybe they'll start playing together again!

my first time in guild wars, beautiful, didn't know there was another ascalon after pre (devastated when it happened though :P) and all new players in pre, it was very crowded, everybody checking the /dance animation. now when you do that, you'll be called n00b -.-"
