| Poll: Server hosts, tickrate settings, netspeed settings |

I wanted to poll the readers on a few different items:
1) Who do you have as a server host? How would you rate them overall? Prices? Link to their site? Who have you heard other than your current host has good servers?
2) If you admin your server, what are your settings under [IpDrv.TcpNetDriver], specifically, the tickrate settings? What about under [Engine.DemoRecDriver]? What are your ClientRate settings at? Be sure to list what type of server you're running (1v1, TDM, CTF, etc.)
3) What are your client-side netspeed settings? Do you have it change dynamically? Do you set your netspeed manually? If so, to what number? What's your connection type?
4) In your opinion, what is the proverbial "ideal combination" of server tickrate & client netspeed settings?
Resources I've looked at so far:
wanparty tickrate article
clanvikings tickrate article (both look the same)
Atari forums \"post your server settings\" thread
I think I'm getting a feel for what all this tech stuff means, so I just want to see what you peeps have going on your systems.
see what others are saying:
Unreal Admin poll
TWL poll
Atari poll
BuF poll

We use Fragism for our public NYC servers and GriffinRun for our private Chicago servers.
They are both good. Fragism is sort of Do-It-Yourself, but provides good tools for adminning the server. GriffinRun provides fewer tools for adminning, but will install mods/mutators for you. Occaisionally we have had performance issues with Fragism, but it is >rare<.
These settings are for our 1v1 and TDM servers.
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]

LanServerMaxTickRate=40
DownloadManagers=IpDrv.HTTPDownload
DownloadManagers=Engine.ChannelDownload
AllowPlayerPortUnreach=False
LogPortUnreach=False
MaxConnPerIPPerMinute=5
LogMaxConnPerIPPerMin=False
3) What are your client-side netspeed settings? Do you have it change dynamically? Do you set your netspeed manually? If so, to what number? What's your connection type?
I use 6-0 on the number keys to change between 6,000 and 10,0001 netspeed in increments of 1000 - depending on my connection.
4) In your opinion, what is the proverbial "ideal combination" of server tickrate & client netspeed settings?
I like 40 tickrate (linux) and 35 tickrate (win) servers, although several of the other IPDrv. variables can mess up or improve the experience. I like servers with a clean enough connection to use 10,000.
SHOUTS:
thanks to SBP for the smooth config... and
MAKE SURE TICKRATES IN THE DEMOREC SECTION MATCH
thanks to 404 for pointing out that tickrate spiked when demorec was enabled

We use leetservers currently. We have used many different providers over the years, and of those, Fragism and Gamedaemons were on par with leetservers. Two we have not used that I hear good things about are Griffunrun, (if ya got the money), and Serverextreme. There are a few to steer clear of, the most notable of these is vskgamingservers.
Our server is a windows box and these are the settings I have settled on since we run ONS and TDM on it.
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]
AllowDownloads=True
ConnectionTimeout=20.0
InitialConnectTimeout=200.0
AckTimeout=1.0
KeepAliveTime=0.2

MaxInternetClientRate=10000

ServerTravelPause=4.0
NetServerMaxTickRate=30
LanServerMaxTickRate=35
DownloadManagers=IpDrv.HTTPDownload
DownloadManagers=Engine.ChannelDownload
AllowPlayerPortUnreach=False
LogPortUnreach=False
MaxConnPerIPPerMinute=5
LogMaxConnPerIPPerMin=False
I have a shit DSL connection. I run 8000 entered manually and don't let it change dynamically.

Both our servers are Win with same cfg in chicago.
[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]
AllowDownloads=True
MaxDownloadSize=0
ConnectionTimeout=20.0
InitialConnectTimeout=200.0
AckTimeout=1.0
KeepAliveTime=0.0
MaxClientRate=10000
MaxInternetClientRate=10000
SimLatency=0
RelevantTimeout=5.0
SpawnPrioritySeconds=1.0
ServerTravelPause=4.0
NetServerMaxTickRate=30
LanServerMaxTickRate=35
DownloadManagers=IpDrv.HTTPDownload
DownloadManagers=Engine.ChannelDownload
AllowPlayerPortUnreach=False
LogPortUnreach=False
MaxConnPerIPPerMinute=5
LogMaxConnPerIPPerMin=False
We use Vipers... The performance is great (dual opterons) and it costs peanuts compared to GR.
I use netspeed 10,000 and do not change dynamically.
