Just curious about which is stronger; Click mez guards like practice brawler from the SR set, or a toggle type like unyielding. THis question comes up after I was using my stalker in a PvE fight and I had my psi shield running. I got hit with something and my obsidian shield got knocked out along with the rest of my toggles. I now have a SR scrapper running and I'm wondering if the same situation is possible.

Practiced Brawler from the SR set is widely accepted as the best mez toggle in the game. As a clicky, it cannot be knocked off, and if a high enough mag does stun/mez you, then it remains active and severely reduces the duration as well as the ability to perma mez you. While it pose the problem with me forgetting to click it, its invaluable as a defense to mez when its on.
Edit: I have a MA/Regen scrap and if for whatever reason my integration gets knocked off, I can be perma mezzed until dead... not so with my MA/SR scrap.

I was under the assumption that Integration is the best Mez toggle available.

As far as magnitude of protection goes, I think all of the mez protection powers are generally the same. The differences lie in the way they work (click vs. toggle) and in the number of mez effects they protect against. Here are my opinions on which are best:
Integration is, in my opinion, the best mez protection power. It is a toggle, protects against the majority of mez effects and knockback, and is the strongest always-on heal power in the regen set.
Unyielding is a close second. It operates just like Integration, but instead of a base heal, it provides a small amount of damage resistence (though at the expense of a small amount of defense).
Practiced Brawler is third, only because it is a click rather than a toggle, though it can easily be made perma. Same all-around mez protection as Integration and Unyielding, but without the bonuses like extra healing or damage resistence.
Obsidian Shield is a toggle that provides no knockback or immobilization protection. Instead, it provides a healthy dose of psionic damage resistence (which is not otherwise easy to come by in CoX), and it also provides protection against Fear effects.
Indomitable Will: I cannot really rank this one because I have not been able to play with it much. It looks pretty good though from the data in Mids. It's a toggle with general mez protection, plus knockback protection. It provides protection against confuse effects at the expense of immobiliziation protection, and it offers a nice defense against psionic damage.

My Spines/Regen Scrapper runs with Integration on at all times and is never mez'ed. I assume fighting against Rikti Chief Mentalists can be difficult but, I have yet to have an issue with their mez powers, I am never stopped because of being mez'ed. Either it is lots of luck or Integration (I am going for the Integration reason...).

At mid/high level Practiced Brawler will become perma anyway.
Even without hasten or heavy slotting.
Just pick Quickness.
If you go for Hasten you will even have it stacked.
And all toggles have one drawback, if they are overcome, they are shut down!
And you suffer from the full effects.
A click still offers some protection, so that the mez-effects don't stack on you and you keep a chance to break free.

The thing I love about regen is that besides integration you can also get resilience. Not only a toxic shield, but its auto, so if you use an awaken your immediately non-stunned and can run. And the disorient protection stacks. Between the two of them I've never been stunned or held with any of my regen scrappers once I have both.

Generally speaking, a click defense will usually be stronger than a toggle defense. The advantage of a toggle defense is the fact that it doesn't wear off as long as you can keep it turned on. This is generally considered better than having a stronger defense only half the time.
Since click powers tend to have a slightly higher bonus and can't be knocked down early, they will provide the better defense IF you can bring your foes down before the effect wears off. In most situations, that just isn't going to happen.

Personally I believe practiced brawler from the SR set is the best mez protection, due to the fact that it is a click power so the effects cannot be taken off if you are overpowered with mezzes and that it stacks with itself as long as its slotted right adding an extra bit of protection, just keep it on auto and you dont have to worry about remembering to click it. =)

Is there really some SR-Scrapper out there who DOESN'T set PB on auto?

Personally i like PB the best, with Integration a very very close second just cause i can also slot it with heals and it has kind of a synergy with the whole Regen thing.
I have a friend who does PvP alot, and he swears by PB, his reasons are (and i am not saying he is right but he has been a better number cruncher and such than i am so i usually trust what he says):
"Toggles can be over come by the controller or dominator spamming the mez's and over stacking the toggle and usually once the toggle is off your screwed. However, PB is a click and they tend to have to keep re-stacking the mez's just to get you held for like 5 secs and if you have it perma 9 times out of ten they will more than likely have to start again for that 5 secs at which point in time you can either run or they should be munching concrete."
(I hope i quoted that correctly i am sure he will let me know lol)
Now from my own personal exp. i have a DM/SR scrapper that i take into PvP from time to time and i have only ever been held once, and that was due to me getting over excited and buttonmashing and spamming my atks and not allowing the auto to fire off PB. Which sux when it happens but hey it's only a game:)
Also I was unaware that Obsidian Shield protected against Fear effects?? I will deff have to check that out, might repique my interest in Dark Armor. I knew about the Psionics stuff, must have missed the Fear thing though.
**edit** Wow i must be friggin' blind i didn't even notice that before. It does protect against Fear. well time to roll out a new scrapper. lol

Practiced Brawler has another neat effect.
With a few Recharge IOs, it can stack up to 3 times...(for a very short period, 2 times usually). I think you can make it "double perma". On my SR scrapper, I have it set on Auto so I don't have to think about it.
On a seperate note, Indomitable Will DOES have Immobilize protection. I don't think there's a mez "hole" in it.
