The New Perception IO 

Does anyone have the Numbers on the new + Perception IO, or do you have any sort of measurement on the perception it gives?

According to Mids, the +perception IO from the Rectified Reticle set increases perception by 20%.

And in case that doesn't mean anything to you (like it did to me), Focused Accuracy is 60% and Tactics for Scrappers should be about 48%.

Must admit it, I'm still baffled.

Could someone plz break down perception & stealth in easy to understand terms?

Do bonuses stack? IR goggles, perception IO's, and Tactics?
What about Invisible and +stealth enhancements?

It's all still a mystery to me and you all are the local brain trust so plz enlighten me.

Yes i am also confused by the great number mess that i perceive to be calculations of perception v invisi, ild like to know if i am running the IO, will it allow me to see those people running stealth?

Basically, if you look at three +perception possibilities (Focused Accuracy, Tactics and the +perception IO), this is the order from strongest to weakest: Focused Accuracy, Tactics, +perception IO. There.

Yes they do stack, just like when a stalker takes Hide, Stealth and is giving Grant Invis. Using Focused Acc/Targeting Drone, Tactics, Percep IO and any yellows will let you see through more layers of stealth. There are also some toggles in armor sets that give Percep, Like Ice, SR, Ninjitsu, WP and Stone.

ok, I could'nt stand it any longer. I broke down swallowed 2-3 Advil and waded thru the sea of numbers on paragon and I acheived a "glimmer" of light at the end of the tunnel.

I pray it's not a freight train... here is My explanation as I understand things, please enlighten me if i've goofed yet again.

All numbers are for PVP ( PVE numbers differ )



hide -500
invisibility -611
stealth (includes stealth IO), shadow fall, & steamymist -389
phase shift & equivalents, quantum flight, & Nebulous form -222
superspeed -0


Base player perception 500

Rectified Recticle IO +20 to characters BASE perception

Tactics % based on Lvl and archetype +28.28% to 86.5%

(scrapper & stalker toggles)Focused Senses, Cloak of Darkness, Danger Sense, & Focused Accuracy +60%

(blasters) targeting drone +60%

(tankers) glacial armor +60%

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
player powers with negative perception modifiers

(controller/dominator) smoke -90%

(defender/mastermind/controller) flash arrow -90%

(blasters) smoke grenade -90%

(stalkers) blinding powder -90%


example one - unmodified character can see a stealthed opponent at ( 500 - 389)= 111 ft , phase shifted at ( 500 - 222)= 278 ft , hidden at (500 - 500)= 0 ft
and invisible opponents (500 - 611)= -111 ft.

example two - Perception IO character can see stealthed at ( 520 - 389)= 131 ft , phase shift at (520 - 222)= 298 ft , hidden at (520 - 500)= 20ft , and invisible opponents (520 - 611 )= -91 ft.

example three - generic +60% perception power modified character sees stealthed at (800 - 389)= 411 ft , Phase shifted at (800 - 222)= 578 ft, hidden at (800 - 500)= 300 ft , and invisible at (800 - 611)= 189 ft.

example four - you are under effect of generic -90% perception DEBUFF power. will only see opponent player at 50 ft if they have NO stealth power active as your base perception is only 50 ANY stealth power active is going to steamroller you with -611 (invis), -500 (hidden), -222 (phase shift), & -389 (stealth).

this should give you a basic idea of how the numbers work together for understanding stealth & perception tactics has to many variables for me to feel comfortable crunching numbers with it. And thinking about stacking multiple %'s makes my poor head asplode!!!

Remember your modified perception # (+ or -) subtract their best stealth score = ft away they are seen. 0 or a negative number means they remain unseen.
