| Update - Thursday December 6 |

|
Lowered Level Access for Entry into Eye of the North
* Characters can now enter Eye of the North as early as level 10 by accepting the quest "XXX" from either Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch, Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center, or Bendah in Kamadan.
* Players who are between levels 10 and 19 and are in Eye of the North maps will automatically receive a buff called Journey to the North. This buff grants players a base Health of 480 and bonuses to their attributes, and replaces their current armor level with the max armor level for that class until they reach level 20.
* The Journey to the North buff sets one attribute to rank 12 and three additional attributes to rank 9. The effect overrides the player's current ranks in all attributes and places 12 ranks in the attribute of the weapon the player is wielding, 9 ranks in that player's primary attribute, 9 ranks based on the attribute of the focus or shield the player is wearing (if applicable), and 9 ranks based on the skills on the player's Skill Bar until the player has three attributes with 9 ranks in them.
* Upon reaching level 20, the Journey to the North buff goes away the next time that player enters a new zone.
* Players new to Eye of the North can now receive a basic max damage weapon by completing the Hero Tutorial quest given by Burol Ironfist in Boreal Station. Once completed, players receive a Burol Ironfist's Commendation item that can be turned in to Arkor Leadfoot in Boreal Station for a weapon of their choosing.
* A new armorer, Jolvor Stoneforge, has been added to Boreal Station to give players a cheaper source of basic max level armor in the Eye of the North expansion.
Updated PvP Rewards
* Tolkano, the Tournament NPC, now sells Zaishen Keys for either 5,000 Balthazar faction or 5 Tournament Reward Points. These keys open the Zaishen Chest on the Isle of the Nameless. Tolkano can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, the Hero Battles outpost, and all guild halls.
* The Zaishen Chest is located on the Isle of the Nameless at the top of the stairs near the location of The Guide.
* The Hall of Heroes chest now grants players a Zaishen Key in addition to the normal drops they receive.
Guild Hall
Three new NPC upgrades are available for guild halls. Members may speak to the Guild Lord in their hall to purchase these upgrades for their guild.
* Canthan Ambassador: allows viewing of guild halls available for purchase.
* Guild Emblemer: allows the guild leader to change the guild's cape without leaving the guild hall.
* Festival Hat Keeper: gives guild members access to an NPC who can remember and reproduce special festival hats they have acquired.
Bug Fixes
* Fixed a bug that caused players to complete the first discovery location in the Tengu Peace Accords bonus mission pack mission during the end cinematic while in Discovery Mode.
Miscellaneous
* Flasks of Firewater now provide 3 minutes of drunk effect upon a single consumption.
* Lockpicks now drop in Eye of the North maps in normal mode at the same rate that keys drop in other regions.

the zaishen chest thing is obv the new use for balth fac. im gonna try it a few times, hope its decent

Lockpicks have always droped in EotN in NM. NM in EotN is HM anyways. HM in EotN is just a harder HM.

WOOT-got a gold r10 battle axe and r13 wolf hammer. Not bad for useless faction!

I love the Firewater update. :D
The Zaishen Keys sound interesting.
The Boreal Station commendation thing sounds cool. More hero weapons are always nice.
Not crazy about the lockpick adjustment but may help with people going for Treasure Hunter titles.
Seem like a 'fun' update.

The only update I don't like and really disapprove of is the new Eye of the North "buff" for those Level 10-19. EotN is ment to be High-End Level 20 content only. They stated that when it was first release. And now they go and do this. Kinda defeats the purpose.

completely. all this does is help level 10-19 speed level. you dont need to work at all to hit level 20, and you get free max armor until that point. total lamesauce

To get a Zaishen Key, talk to the Tournament NPC, you need 5,000 Balthazar Faction OR 5 Tournament Points for 1 key.

jesus rach u have too much faction. Tolkano seems broken right now with the pvp items. I'm trying to suit up my pvp mes and i got her 15k canthan but I can't get any weapons :(

Why don't you like it? All chests in EOTN are Locked Chests, even in NM. Lockpicks having a better chance of dropping is awesome. Makes it easier on our money pouches and getting the title.
As for the overall update, I can't complain. Seems like a good one to me. Other than the fact that low levels can now acess a high level area. But, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't this just for the weekend? I think (and hope) the level thing goes back to normal after this weekend. And if it doesn't, then oh well....only people who own EOTN can get there anyway...and if they've bought EOTN, they should have some higher lvls and be somewhat competent (I hope :P).

This is the only part of the update I didn't like. Sad part is that it's almost like a second factions campaign now (Takes some to get started then BAM!! Lvl 20).

This is quite possibly the most stupid PvP-update I have ever seen... Why get PvE rewards for PvP? Why not something like, say, Reward Points?
This will only possibly bring more players to RA, it won't promote anything else.

Ermm... That's pretty much what players have been able to do with Factions characters for quite some time, right?
And don't get me started on runners...
Considering there is the Platinum Edition with Proph + EotN this moves makes sense to me.
And it's not like it will make the trip all that easier. I can't really see a rookie freshly arrived at LA, with a handful of skills, no elite and limited experience take a walk in the park in EotN (though the way attributes are boosted MIGHT be kinda off; one at 12, 3 at 9, that's more than a maxed out character can get).
One thing that bugs me is how this will impact on lower levels arenas. ArenaNet don't seem too keen on revitalzing them and I think it's a shame.
At least you can get 2 extra heroes early in the game. Though I wonder if they'll be lvl 20 right off the bat, maybe they could update them so they align with the character's level and benefit from the EotN buff when applicable.

Its ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. EotN was promised as a high end area for level 20's only. This buff thing totally undermines that. I hardly ever complain, but you really blew it on this one Anet. What were you thinking???

Over all not too bad. Not sure what the benifit is for the Zaishen chest (at least for people who only PvP) but at least I have something to do with my faction now.
As for the lockpicks in NM. I think it is only fair as those are the only chests in Gwen. (hoped they upped the drop rate in HM though)
GW:EN Buff - Well I have to say this is unfair. You are buffing people so that they don't have to do the work to survive in high level areas. Not liking this one, I hope it is only for the weekend to drive interest in GW:EN.
Getting legendary survivor shouldn't be as hard now though, thats a lot of experience and there are some easy places to farm it.

i really do think the buff is only for the weekend so everyone has access. i dont think it will stay...
or i hope not at least, id ont think anet would be that idiotic to defeat the whole point of the 'high end' areas.

well they just made another high end area/item not that special, its been happening for awhile...pretty soon fow armor is gonna cost as much as any other 15k set, and mini ghostly, panada, and all the other high end minis are going to be a festive weekend drop
also, someone in my alliance was claiming a q9 eternal blade from the zaishen chest....can anyone confirm this? and if so it just proves my above point, eternal blade had like a .001% chance of dropping and that was after a few hours of clearing uw/fow now 15 minutes of zaishen elite trapper farming and you have a chance to get it

A high end expansion that allows lv. 10s have access...the WoW fanboys will have a field day with this...
bit dissapointed and i fee lit really makes no sense to do this, if it was for the weekend great but since its long term..bah
im not pushed either way tbh, as long as lv.14s wont be spamming towns up looking for parties:(.
they are missing a nice bit of the campaign by go to eotn instead imo. but again its there call.

This will be a good experiment on the possibility of allowing higher level numbers without higher functionality. I highly doubt that a level 10 will be allowed into groups of level 20s for EotN content, even if it does have equal functionality.

EoTN buff is also for the up coming EoTN weekend u know. Since there are some ppl that are not lvl 20 and don't have EoTN, They can go there during the weekend and have fun with EoTN.
WOOOOT! Now i can get consumbles and stuff easily with balthazar faction! A use for RA pvp :D
EDIT: nvm fixed
EDIT2: The lockpicks in EoTN have been dropping a while ago. At least for me, I killed a berserking Wendigo(about a month ago) and it droped a lockpick. Was nice cause a chest was right there, Q9 grape Highlander blade T.T.
