I thing when u resepc u should be able to change ur power poolswell this is just my opinan but Respec u "Start your toon over" but the way respecs r now u dont start over u start from the powers sets u chose at level 1. But thsi just m. [/QUOTE]

I could see this happening, but they would only be able to implement this when they make all the sets fair, becuase, if they do this before theyre all fair, we will see nothing but EM/NIN stalks or Fire/Eng Blasters, but then again, i dont predict the developers, although ild like to see something like that, maybe with a twist like u pay for the sets I.E. switching from say Sonic on a blaster to Ice would cost so much depending on the level and efficentcy of the set along with your rep and your money

According to the Devs (Matt Miller, Jack Emmert, etc.) this isnt even inthe cards for the game. According to the Team there are certain things that 'make' the character and can not be changed. These are:
* Gender (Male, Female, Huge) ~ so no transgender toon changes
* Archetype (Blaster, Stalker, Tanker, etc.) ~ so no Blaster to MasterMind changes
* PowerSets (the point of the OP) ~ so no changing to Fire/Fire from Ice/Sonic and the like.
The point of this is that if this were possible (even just the PowerSets but not the AT) then you could have someone start a Scrapper with a Build that is very easy to play from say Level 1 to Level 30 and then Respec to a Build that is a real pain to level up until Level 30 (when it becomes easily soloable from then on) and continue on to Level 50.
Also, remember that NCsoft is a business and they want to retain their customer base for as long as possible. If you were able to take one toon from 1 to 50 then just switch to another Archetype or PowerSet via a Respec then the following would happen:
* No more 'low levels' would be created (or at least very few) because you could change to whatever without ever having to level at all. This would make the low level Zones very empty for the most part, and new players would not stick with the game due to lack of teaming and education in the game from 'Veteran' players.
* The quality of player/characters would drop substantially because you would not 'learn' how to properly play a character through the trial and error and time spent leveling a character. This would effect teaming and how people viewed the game as a whole. 'What a crummy game! Nothing but n00bs who cant play worth a darn!'
* As mentioned previously; the 'Flavor of the Month' would be the majority of characters at any one time making it nearly impossible to complete much of the content. Example: if EM/SS Brutes are the FoTM, then who will have a Rad/Whatever Corruptor to help Debuff an AV/Hero/GM?
The Respecification of Powers was made to allow tweaks in Powers taken and Slotting done within an existing Archetype and Build so that when modifications to the game (Balancing) are made; the player can take his old Warhorse and bring it up to speed with the new rules of the game. And personally, I agree with this for the aforementioned reasons.
Finally, if you could Respec your toon to whatever Archetype and Build, you would very quickly run through the majority of the options for play n the game... and leave. Thus NCsoft loses a subscriber and the fees that keep the game going. This will not easily (if ever) be changed. Even just a PowerSet (Build) change would significantly shorten the lifespan of the game. Sorry, but it's a bad idea, and over on the OB's we have thrashed this subject to death to get to the simple truths outlined above.
Besides, you will usually have a pretty good idea before you get to the level where you can do the First Respec Trial whether you like the style of play of any Build, and it's not that hard to level a new toon up to that level in short order.

I know. I just thought that I'd get the 'Full Monty' answer out of the way instead of letting it grow bigger. BUT it all amounts to the same thing really. Try all the Stalker/Brute/Scrapper builds at say Level 30 on and you effectively killed the pre-Level 30 Zones. And again, if you dont get used to the Sets slowly some (not all, but a majority of some players) will be at a loss on how to slot or use the 'new' powers. And making it a Veteran's Reward for those who do know how to use many or all of the powerssets already doesnt make it any better. The first 20 Levels can be done pretty quickly. i have heard in under a day of playing without PL, and if you dont have a clue if you like a Set by that time, adding another 10 Levels wont do it either. I usually dump a toon i am not satisfied with by Level 15 or even 12 which is easily rebuilt in a couple of days of playing the way I do which isnt that hard core.
