(Lack of) Frames Per Second

Ok, when I first got GW (over 2 years ago) my computer ran it fine. Now I'm getting appalling frame rates. While moving around a crowded town such as LA or Kamadan I can get as little as 4 FPS (yes, 4!)...I know it has nothing to do with my graphics settings as I have tried setting them on the lowest and it has no effect whatsoever to the FPS. The only time I can get it above 30 is if I'm standing in a corner, facing the wall. As soon as I see other people, it drops instantly. :(

System Information:
Dell DIMENSION DIM3000
Intel
Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz
2.79GHz, 512 MB of RAM
Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition
Resolution: 1024 x 768
Colour: 32 bpp
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9250

Anyway, hopefully some of you smart people will be able to give some suggestions. :P

Thanks in advance!

I know your problem! But I was more lucky. Just when I was thinking about buying a new system, my gw started to lagg (on a GeForce 5700FX). It didn't wnet as low as 4 FPS, but it took longer and longer to load a map. That was kinda annoying since I was doing PvP a lot..

Well anyway about your problem now ^^
There are a few reasons I can think of that causewyour problem:
1. You got a Dell jk jk
2. With GW getting updated, they also increase the graphics from time to time. Having only 512 RAM memory can cause a problem. Escpecialy when you have a single core CPU (altough 2,8ghz should be fine for GW)
3. Your graphics card is getting old. I don't know a lot about video cards with an other brand than NVIDIA, so I don't know how old your graphics card is.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm not the ultra nerd that knows all about hardware. I installed my PC from scrap, I installed windows and that's about it ^^ I'm not good in fixing problems because I don't know every hardware on the market.

Good luck with getting your problem fixed and I hope there are some ppl who can give you better answers.

~Blazings

A tip could be to update the graph drivers and the latest DX9.0c. Another thing could be as Blazings said to upgrade your RAM to 1-1,5GB thou that should not matter if you only play GW and not keeping 100 other programs on in the background. Or if you use CPU draining programs, shuting them of could fix it.

RE: (Lack of) Frames Per Second

I just came up with another idea called: "Game accelerator" It's a program I use to play Crisis on ultra high =D When you activate it during gameplay, it shuts down all programs that you don't need for running the game (virus scanner stays active) and this speeds up your computer.

@Einstein (forgot your name ^^): I think it would rather be 1-2GB cus if you put in different types of memory, your computer may go frenzy. I have TwinX 2GB with means 2 sticks of 1 GB that work together very good.
Anyways.. don't put a 1GB stick in the and your old 512mb in the other slot, or it's gonna go crazy. I can't really say what you should buy (if you want to upgrade) because I don't know the lay-out.
For example: (assuming you have 4 slots for RAM memory)
    1. 2x 128mb 2x128mb
    2. 2x 256mb and 2x nothing
    3. 1x512mb + 1x nothing and 2x nothing

Solution would be:
    1. Pull out everything and put in everything new (minimum would be 2x 512mb)
    2. Another 2x 256mb in the other slot (256mb cards don't cost anything these days)
    3. Put another 512mb in there (I think it would be weird if there's only one card in there, but some PC's have that)

Buuut let's try game accelerator first. Idk where you can download it, but I'll post it here when I find something.
Again, good luck!

EDIT:
Here's your link. This should work for now.. but upgrade will be needed in the future: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4062.html
