i have done all 4 campaigns with 2 chars, both with chaos gloves but.. i dont know to tank.
Finally now i can join random games to have fun, but how i tank? i saw the party send me first and leave me alone in the middle of foes and they make nothing few minutes (??). They are out of my circle and i dont think they can cast from there. They let the foes to consume their skills and energy or what is happening? Anyway how i tank?
but with henchs can tank? i think heroes/henchs cant help a tank, for example monk heroes cant MAINTAIN enchantments, right? if i make click on hero bar on a "maintaining enchantment" with me as target i dont see on my bar this enchantment.

They wont maintain it cus you have to disable the skill (or it they will remove it again).
And how do you tank? You take 5-6 defensive skills, 2-1 attack skills and a res. Than try to stay in the bubble of your monk. So it could be just aswell your teams fault.
One question: you don't know how to tank but.. with what chars did you complete games? If they're assassin and mesmer you can't tank xD

Tanking is a kind of getting all enemies atracted to you ,so that it's easier to ball them up (all putting them together) or to kill from farther distance.
I will give an example.
Let's see, the deep is a very good example when doing one of the rooms, they are always 2 assassin enemies in the room , but they only fight the warrior with some stances and signets on.
Why ? Because the enemies only have him in his aggro circle or just getting the attraction , almost the same if you keep fighting a monk in pvp.
Now like the W/E version for Hm or Nm. The Warrior use Dolkay Signet to get armor + obsidian flesh , so they can't cast spells and has high armor. That's good to ball them up
Conclusion : Tanking is distracting all enemies to the person, that can be a 55hp monk , a typical warrior tank.
How to tank ? Look Wiki , watch some videos, tanking is not an easy part. But practice will do a thing :D.

seriously i don't want to make this look like a flame/insult but i really wnna get rid of this and tell you....he's made like 200 threads just asking stuff and never gave something back to community...kinda pisses me off
to answer ur question i think there's a very good tanking guide somewhere here..i think some admin made it

If you don't like it , don't post xD. I'm always a helping person , so i don't care. But next time i will redirect him to the Wiki page :).

Well, we all start off somewhere. I am sure there's a lot of people here who likes to help out when someone asks question, and if you look at his profile, you'll understand that even the brightest 7-year old needs some help every now and then ^^

Think in terms of an actual military Tank. Just build up your armor to a maximum protection state. Focus on sucking up all the damage for the team. For this you might need to lower swords, axe or hammer mastery. Which means certain attacks wont apply enough damage because you focusin on tactics &/or strenth. So just use condition appliers. Such as sever artery and gash...
1. Max out armor.
2. Don't use Hammer (so you can have a shield for more armor).
3. Use adrenaline attack skills so you don't have to worry so much about your lack of energy....BECAUSE when you build up your armor, you wont be using freaken Radiant insignias OR ELSE YOUR NO TANK!
It's pretty simple...

u wrong, a tank need insignias cuz my obs derv have lots skills with high energy req. and anyway u say something about adrenalin or atack skills, but a tank isnt for damage
Right i post usually only questions RARELLY, i dont have time like xx to read all day forums but these questions help others too. And im avoiding posting, cuz some guys blame my english, how u can see in this thread too

Wow, my sentences are really that bad?
Look bud. I'm trying to say a tank needs tons of armor and less aggression. Focus on "ARMOR" and instead of big fancy attack skills, use simple and easy attacks that apply conditions. Use insignias that give armor or health. Little energy is required when tanking.

A few simple steps to tanking:
1) Make sure your team is well back.
2) Run into the foe, gathering the aggro of all foes in the mob.
3) Once aggro firmly focused on you, walk backwards slowly towards your team. Wait for a second for melee foes to get to you, and take another few steps back. This means all foes with me in front of you. This is good for aoe skills from your team, but the main reason is so that if the foe scatter from aggro, they will not scatter onto your team.
4) Do not move unless your team move back. This will only occur when a foe breaks aggro. You will need to loop round that foe and attack it to correct aggro onto yourself.
TIP: Knocking down will cause foes to recheck their targets, onto the nearest foe, or the foe that caused the knockdown.

Won't it be awsome if you could Dual Wield Shield.
Like, one in each hand, or a Two-Handed huge Shield with loads of armor but somethin' like 2-3 Damage =P

Rogues guide to tanking:
Don't.
It's not worth it to sacrifice DPS in order to try to take aggro which you'll only be mildly successful with anyway. When I get asked to tank stuff I usually just take Shields Up! and Watch Yourself, sometimes with endure pain for kicks.
Then again, I like to beat things as fast as possible, so I always play ridiculously offensive stuff.

If you do the deep or DoA for that matter (foundry); you will HAVE to tank; bringing along your skillbar rogue; you will sign your teams death. We can discuss that for ages; but try it... its not like 'regular' PvE and proper tanking is essential with either 15 onis around you; or 15 titans. For one; you do not want them around your squishy monks, eles and necros. DPS as warrior is necesary for PvP; not for PvE. Saying midly succesful is nonsense. If the team knows how aggro works the aggro will stay on the tank. Period. Having people that do not understand it sign the teams downfall IF tanking is requiered.
Tanking is essential in some of the high-end pve areas. With the lack of energy on warriors and the addition of glyph of swiftness, eles are at the moment the main source of tanking. The deep is still done with the steel warrior.
Essential for tanking is the use of the map. Use corners and walls. If a wall is thin enough to make your bubble touch the casters and such, stand there. Casters can attack while you block the foes by use of the wall and the blocking of the 'path around' For warrior the use of return is always a good option for pulling as well. Pull, walk back and at about 1.5 times your bubble, use return. walk up a bit towards the (still) progressing foes and block them on a corner or wall.
As for builds:
Steel warrior (for the deep)
- Signet of stamina (this also gives the next rule for a tank: do NOT attack)
- Endure pain
- Shield Stance
- Defensive Stance
- Dolyak Signet
- Return (for pulling and opening the doors after the 1st stage
- Rez
- Shove (this is purely for kanaxai. The KD for the aspects is mainly done by meteorshower of the eles. Kanaxai requires 2 KD's for the popups to spawn in an area with constant health degen; hence the warriors using shove and leaving the casters in the safe healthdegen free area)
Main conclusion of warrior tank builds: warrior dont have a big enough energypool to use spells. Not even with radiant insignias. Use signets and low energy tactic skills (warriors do not have those skills to make an impressive skill list).
The above is also why the next build came into the world of GW:
Obsidian Ele
- Glyph of Swiftness
- Obsidian Flesh
- Stone Striker
- Armor of Earth
- Stoneflesh Aura
- Mantra of Earth
- Ward of Stability
- Aura of Restoration
With the EotN glyph of swiftness a obsi ele can upkeep OF 100% of the time; with time to spare. Goodbye obsi warriors that requier a SB monk when they take aggro.

Yeah.....some of the people with the power to give negative cred kind of abuse their power if you ask me. I've gotten negative cred before for no good reason. Example: I replied to a help topic and told someone a strategy to beat a particular mission and I received a -5 for some reason >_<.

I realize this, I just don't include elite missions in general play. However in FoW I usually do take my normal skillbar + Deaths charge and Endure Pain with most AMP groups. That way I'm guaranteed aggro.
