| Headset problem continues... |
|
|
|
O.k, I broke my first headset which did work but i snapped to cord by accident(oops). So i bought a new headset which worked until they suddenly stopped, so i thought i broke them as well. So yesterday i got a new headset(same model as my original), but they still dont work. I get sound out of them but i cant speak, nothing works. Not cs, not ts, not speech recognition, not DoD, not BF2, etc. Im wondering if anyone can help me make this work, I'm about to go insane! if u have any questions feel free to ask.

Have a link to the kind of headset?
I have a kind that you flip a switch to turn off the sound pick up of your mic.

Yeah same here..it very well could be you just muted yourself. Not trying to call you stupid or anything but people tend to look for complex solutions and it ends up being the simplest thing ever.

My brother had the same headset and the mic stopped working after a few weeks. He just trashed it and got a different one.

could it possibly be a burnt out female connection on the computer? just wondering, but you should be able to plug headphones from say an ipod in there to see if it's the plug in or not.
Edit:
if those don't work, then i'd say it's likely on the computer end of things, something may not be connected there, burnt out, defective, etc.
is it a USB or standard headset?

reason i said that is my laptop has 1 usb port that didn't like the original optical mouse, thought it was the mouse, but it wasn't, it works fine in other ports and other computers, just the one that is finiky.
anywho, thought i'd complicate things, sorry if i have you putting electrodes into your comp, seeing if there's electricity going through it. lol. jk,

Have you tried messing around with mic settings in Windows?
Go to your volume control, go Options>Properties and select Recording. Make sure your microphone is activated and turned up.
I've found that sometimes, programs will mess this up... causing major headaches.

My headsets mic wouldn't work in MSN, games, or the sound recorder in accessories.
I forget what I did but I messed with settings on the computer and it worked. (As helpful as that sounds.)

More than likely Vista is not pick up the headset, it happens to me with my USB one ALL the time! I have to go to the little volume icon, Right click and choose Recording devices, click microphone, make sure the mic you are using has a GREEN dot and not a RED dot! Or simply make sure that the microphone is being picked up by the computer.
Go to properties once you click on your mic, go to Controller Information Properties and make sure the Driver is up to date for Vista.
Also you can try going to configure from the original microphone screen in recording devices, Set up Microphone, and see if that helps.
:-)
