Another Day, Another Rant.

OK so heres my rant.

One kid says guildwars is gay and WoW is better, and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Way to go for listening to ONE kid morons. Now i have no friends to play GW with anymore because of stupid effing WoW recruiters at my school they run around like Army hawks, wating to snatch up the GW players and convert to wow, well at least i can say we lost another Player to WoW today. FFS

I don't care if im the last person playing GW in my school and i am hated for it, i will never play WoW again in my LIFE.

Just because one person says GW is gay, 100 other people feel the need to be cool and say GW sucks, drop everything on G and stop playing?

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE THIS GAME SO MUCH?

You guys in [AMP] are the only friends i have left at this point.

They don't hate the game, their just brain washed by delusions of a more expensive game.

The weak-minded have no place in GW anyway. i certainly hope they were not the ones that run around in PVE and RA with hopeless skills and skillbars. if they were, their better off in WoW.

ah u just gotta be able to prove them right =] i got one person converted to gw because i got his gf to play, who got my gf to play (for a while, her mum told her to stop cuz she was on it too much) and i also got my friend who is not in school anymore to get it for christmas.. along with a ps3 and a laptop.. O.O hes spoiled T.T
but yea, i cant stand those people with the uber leet god builds -_- ...
one thing i hate is, when u try and tell people that they lost becuase they player was better than them, and they call me a noob..im like.. wtf?.. sorry, offtopic xD!

I remember having arguments at school about which one was better. Basically, every one of them came down to "You play your game and I'll play mine." with a few more euphemisms added.

If they want to listen to the person saying WoW is better, just let them go.
If WoW is as bad as you say it is then they'll stop playing and get GW. No one is forcing them to play either game, it's their choice.

it's funny when i've gone recruiting GW players in real, i dug them out at a gym. WoW players would never be at a gym! i can tell who plays WoW and who plays GW just by looking at them.

no need to offend, but WoW hardcores scare the crap out of me and creep my wife out. and they almost 90% of the time stink and have potatoe chip grease on them.

so i say, let them jump on the WoW bandwagon and become chip-grease stained, baggy-eyed, poor-postured, sad-excuses for the human race. there's a reason there are weird looking races in WoW, it's so they have something in common with the game, whereas GW chars are all either HOT or Strapping!

hehe, that's my rant for you, for them.

I would say this is where one of the greatest words, that's bringing life down, takes effect. Ignorance :D

Who cares about little nerds recruiting other nerds at your school. Who cares that people accept WoW over GW because of whatever reason.

Ignore all of that and your in the green. However, to calm your mind take this fact: Guild Wars 2 is going to be so similar to WoW and yet better because Anet is finding all those ugly messes WoW has and fixing them for a "Guild Wars" rendition. Also remember that GW2 is going to be free. Now the only thing that WoW can do, when GW2 comes out, is go free online as well. But heck, with all the promotion and the money that WoW creators make from peoples monthly payments...WoW would fall apart if they went free online. So I guess "Oops".

For short. Just wait a little longer and all the people you know at your school who dis-like GW will think twice when GW2 comes out.

Ok so WoW. This is the kind of game that takes over your life. Ppl go in and they dont come out. They sit there until their beloved player is such and Ub3r 3lit3 lvl that they can p@wn all the n00bs. That is the very reason i dont play WoW. All u have to do is put time in and u can be a god. GW on the other hand takes alot more skill. Having a lvl cap that everyone can get to easily adds alot to a game. As far as i know it is a pretty unique system that forces people to think (or at least go to pvxwiki). Succuss in this game has become stagagy bassed rather than bassed on the amount of your soul you let the game such out of you. *Pause for breath* I like my soul and im with whoever started this topic. Don't play WoW, play a game that takes much more skill. We dont want to end up having a bunch of 40 year old kids who need to get their WoW fix but cant get it cause they have no job or money stealing from us like crackheads. Plus GW is a lot less addicting so you can keep your life. I have never seen a TV show mocking GW like they do WoW every other one of their epesodes. Maybe there is a good reason for this. This had been my reply rant and i hope you people haning over the WoW abis will grab hold of part of the GW world and be albe to save youselves. If you dont, may the lord have mercey on your souls.

Even in Guild Wars you have to put in the time and concentration to be good. Someone who has played 1k hours will be better then someone who has played 10 hours. Even though wow gives you more levels you are still working towards a goal. To get stronger. Guild Wars level cap is 20 but even if your 20 you still have to put the effort in to get better.

Being level 20 with a great build still will make you suck if you do not know how to use that build correctly. :)

And yet another bandwagon has started from this thread, a bandwagon of WoW-hate, lol.

lucifer2_ii, you're being melodramatic. Almost every online game can do that, GW has it's share of addicts.

WoW being mocked more by TV shows? Well, there are a few reasons for it:

-Been around longer. WoW has been around for a bit longer than Guild Wars. Not just talking about the MMORPG, but also talking about the franchise. It has a longer history, so it has more fans.

-Because of it's longer history, it has become the spokesgame for Online Roleplaying games. When non-gamers think of gaming online, they usually will think of World of Warcraft. So obviously, if TV Shows want to make sense to more people, they'll feature a more widely-known game. I like Guild Wars, and had played it for more than 2 years, but it's not as famous as WoW.

The trend isn't only from GW to WoW. There are alot of people going from WoW to GW too.

But I think I know why people are leaving GW, and this is the same reason I left GW:

Guild Wars is a fun game. It really is. I love the strategy and the teamwork needed in it. One person brings the Conditions and a mesmer brings Fevered Dreams.

But what many people like about GW, some don't like about it.

LEVEL CAP AT 20:

Though having the cap at 20 makes for good strategic playing and less grinding, it also seems to limit the difficulty. Once all your chars reach 20 and get good gear, once you've ran the same instances over and over again, what else is there? For those who prefer PvP, GW can be a long-term game. But for those who long for PvE, GW can be short.

PVE:

The PvE in Guild Wars isn't bad at all, but there really isn't any real progression once you get max armor and weapons. All you basically do is trade in your cheap armor for different armor, keeping the same stats or maybe a different variable.

A new chapter comes out, but the difficulty of it is in the unknown, not the increase. What I mean is that once you go through the new chapter once, the difficulty of that chapter drops significantly. The only real difficulty for me when getting a new chapter was the exploding enemies in Factions. And even then we were quick to work around it.

PVP:

The PvP in WoW and GW are two completely different things. Anyone who says they like one over the other is only expressing an opinion. You cannot judge each game's PvP against the other. Guild Wars is based on build-strategy. World of Warcraft is based on movement/battleground-strategy.

All in all, the reason I left Guild Wars, and alot of other people have similar reasons, is because I got bored of it. Dispute my boredom all you want, but that's my opinion.

But remember, Guild Wars was originally intended to be an experiment. The true test of ArenaNet will be Guild Wars 2.

There's similar sort of WoW groups round my school, hey ho, they're all losers. Any game you have to pay a subion to is not worth playing. I like to annoy the WoW people by going on about how good the GW graphics are and how agressive players are on WoW. GW, WoW, both MMOPRGs but I'd sooner play Diablo 2 (which wasn't bad before GW came along) than WoW :D

Edit: my PC is playing up, can't get subion to say S U B S C R I P T I O N , man i need to get this sorted. :S

Dunno how I manage to be at the gym 5-6 a week, go skiing/out for a run about as many times per week, aswell. O.o
A WoW nerd like me could benchpress the highest amount from our school (It's a small school, BUT I CAN STILL BRAG! xD).I was quite fat at that time,still am, but lost over 30kg though. WoW didn't, and won't stop me from doing any of those things. So there's a stereotype in your face. :)

Oh and editz: There are baggy-eyed, chip-stained, poor postured, sad excuses for the human race outside of MMO gamers aswell. So playing WoW, or any other game for that matter,doesn't make you less aryan. There's fat & thin, short & tall, bright and stupid people. People are different and just 'cos they don't have a sixpack doesn't make them less of a human then the next one who shots testosterone to look like a Hulk. Quite a superficial thing to say, but meh. ^^

(Actually I have to admit that I got kinda hooked when I first started playing WoW but it wore off.) :P

I work out 6 days a week and take Kali (philopeano weapons martial arts) And I am the site manager of WoW...Also my staffers work out as well and play wow....so insulting wow in such a dumb way is GG but fail. If you haven't played the game don't insult it, and that goes for ANY game because that makes you just as bad as the kids in Chris's high school that insult GW. Totally LAME!

As for the two games I dont think either one is better or worse, except that Anet is ban happy right now which is lame, but Blizzard messes up too sometimes, all game companies do.

The games are similar and have many things to offer players, if they werent good games they would not have the millions of subscribers though. And yes WoW might be more popular at the moment but there are many players like myself that have played since the begining that are NOT happy with WoW right now. Hell you might see me in GW one day, ya never know. However I will not bash either game because they are both good with things to offer people.

I have to agree almost completely with Cswella here.
Except I really don't want to play a toon looking like it escaped from a Disney Classics production, so I would never play WOW. :-)

Lack of progression gets you in the end, unless you can keep being interested in the latest armor fashion or Flavor of the Month Build. Lack of progression gets you playing WOW or another toon as well, but Blizzard perfected the Drug Seller's art of Player Retention by "tweaking" items in an overly itemized game. That keeps people subbed longer as they have to find the new uber-armor. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? The other group who really got this down pat is ArenaNet. Small wonder as the creative genius at the root of both games comes from the same set of minds.

In terms of subscr-iptions WOW is the second largest MMORPG in the world today, and number one in the Western World. The third largest is not an MMORPG, it's Guild Wars. So naturally envy/jealousy between the two will spark. But to be honest, if you loose friends over what games you like to play, they weren't friends to begin with. Just acquaintances. Shallow ones at that.

Listen I play WoW and I still play Guild Wars, I find WoW a good game, but its grinding and if you lvl, you feel like an achievement. But I don't compare the 2 games. WoW sometimes is better than Guild Wars(eg:Action Houses), but GW has the same(Graphics, transportation)

It's not EverCrack.
Number one has 12 milion subscribers, and that's just on the legal servers. I'll give you a hint.
Think Korea, think wobbly bits, think ultimate grindfest, then wonder where NCSoft got their Big Bucks with.

In the Western World, which includes Europe as well as US and Australasia, WOW rules supreme, with Guild Wars as second and the rest isn't visible on charts that show the first two unless you use a logratihmic scale...

If you are getting picked on in school for playing gw instead of wow... umm lie! yes thats it tell them you play frogger and your doing it to be different also tell them your happy for them that they enjoy wow and you dont care what they think about your spare time because its not something that they control. Explain you are an individual and they are mere robots sheep following a mindless corperate dogma intent on frittering away peoples lives and slowly steering them into an assimilation of minds where everyone wears a suit and tie and that they will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes. Then use your towel to soften the punches and mop up the blood. or maybe just talk about something other than wow vs gw its not like that's all life holds.
