Ok, here’s the deal. I just switched servers from Triumph (where I have a L10 Stalker, Garra Negra) which i play usually solo, to Freedom for more group play. Although I loved stalking, the recent dual blade boom has made me reconsider. The other archetipe I have been atracted to is the MasterMind. Personally I find nothing wrong with number crunching and game maxing, but for me concepts are very important. I am torn between 2 primaries, Ninjas or Thugs. (Ninja vs. Pirates?), and almost all the secondaries.
Primaries:
Ninjas are the stable of all elite comic book and spy movie minions. It sounds cool. Only down side I think is the Bow. Come on. Your the great ninja lord, maybe a Yakuza boss. And you are armed with a bow? Not even a Ninja To?
Thugs just have that “cheap” minion look. Worse yet, every time you summon them, they look different, so you cannot personalize them. The twin pistol look? COOL AS HELL!!!! In a Superhero, superpowers world? Not entirely convinced how to visually make him/her more than just a guntowing gangster.
Secondaries:
Dark Miasma
A Ninja lord that controls Darkness itself, cool. Even a Crime boss that really controls the Dark alleys. No Prob here.
Poison
Ninjas are adept with poisons and crimelords could deal in drugs, so Ok. Just how useful is this set?
Traps
To high tech for both.
Trick Arrow
The ninja set has arrows so maybe. Just how useful is this set?

Hello Dalilean, welcome to GameAmp!
My MM is Ninja/Poison. I picked that combo because I thought it had the coolest concept. As it turned out it is also a very powerful set, and almost all 36 levels I played her she has teamed up. I rarely ever soloed. The healing bubbles you throw around keep you quite busy. You can read the full concept about her >>HERE<<. I agree with you the bow doesn't make much sense, so I don't use it. I skipped all primary set attack powers. And I still attrack plenty of aggro and am plenty busy.

For the Ninja set, if you decide to take a bow power, you should make the bow Arcane and then grab DM. Your origin could be "Magic" and the bow could be the artifact you found that granted you your powers. You were then able to use these powers granted through possession of the bow to gain influence and eventually a band of Ninjas. This way the bow not only functions as a weapon, but also as a integral part of your story.
Anyways, that's just a rough idea I came up with two seconds ago. Take it as you will.

Thugs are good but ninjas are best for PVP because out of all the pets, they have the highest DPS rating. Also Onis are fricken sweet, they are like dominators.
The best combo in my opinion is ninja/poison or ninja/miasma simply because they have tons of debuffs. Don't bother getting any damage moves like Aimed Shot, because in medium-higher levels you are going to be too busy throwing bubbles and debuffing to even bother using 'em.

Hahah, ouch Mzzkc, what's up, getting braces? I had 5 teeth extracted a little while back, one of them being a mesiodent, so they had to cut open my palate and cut and pull and the blood argh..
On topic: Agreed, Ninjas are very effective pets, they have some debuffs from range, but if you want to use their full potential, make a few go-to binds and get them all in melee, next to the mob, and watch them cut them to pieces in seconds.
EDIT: Oh, and the Oni's Fire Breath + Smoke Flash = lesser Inferno

No. . .
I've had teeth extracted before and that doesn't even begin to compare with this. At least when I had the extractions done I didn't have stitches in my mouth and didn't have to swallow my "food" whole. None of that is fun though. . .
This was actually done to prevent possible damage that could have been done to my recently
straightened teeth.
