| How to change account password? |
|
|
|
So.. about a year ago my brother quit GW and gave the account to me. That time it was easy to change password, but now it requires to go to your Play NC account. The thing is both accounts have the same password which i would like to change becouse my brother started GW again and bought the games from me. I can't change the password in my Play NC couse I haven't added the game account to my Play NC account. How do I do that etc change the password?

You have to log in plaync with your shop account. I went through this before.

I've had the same problem but I don't get what you mean with your 'Shop account'? I didn't even buy my game at PlayNC and it still directs me there when I want to change my pass...

What I did as he suggested is go to Guild Wars Online Shop. Put something in your basket and proceed to check out. if you do not have a plaync account associated you will be asked to fill in that information. Once you do, just delete everything out of your basket. You do not have to buy anything. Wish plaync and anet would make it easier to associate the 2.

you should think carefully before you link ur account with NCplay master account. Once its linked, there's NO way to unlink it (this I am sure). You can't change ur email(log-in name, not so sure about this). So lets say one day you'll get rank15 doing HA and ur so tired of GWs and trying to sell it, it will be hard due to trust issue. And I'm sure you'll get more than $1000 for rank 15.
Edit: As the matter of fact I just changed password and email account for one of my account. Just need both active emails to change log-in name and active email to change password.

It might help to have a clear picture of what PlayNC.com and the PlayNC master account are for.
PlayNC.com is the online store fro games and services for those games. This includes subions and in-game items /services, like extra character slots for your Guild Wars accounts.
The PlayNC Master account is the account to which your payment credentials (such as a Credit Card are attached). it's safer to have just one account for that even if you might have multiple game accounts (with paid for subion or not).
So there's a 1:N relationship between PlayNC Master Account and Game account(s).
For example, on my PlayNC account I have:
- 1 Lineage II account (defunct)
- 2 Guild Wars accounts (moldering)
- 1 City of Heroes/Villains Europe account (defunct)
- 1 City of Heroes/Villains United States account (active with monthly recurring subion fee)
You can also see it as a nested system, with the Master Account the parent entity under which one or more Game Account child entities reside.
Sony Online Entertainment and Codemasters work with similar schemes and at SOE I have an even longer list off (defunct) accounts. This kind of system also allows a parent to easily manage subions for him/herself and their children who don't have credit-cards or other online payment methods.
Having a Master account for payments (just one place for those sensitive credit-card details) is handy. it also allows one to manage game accounts. I can change the password on any of my (active) accounts from my Master Account. Game accounts tend to have easy passwords and relatively easy to hi-jack. So hi-jacking a Game Account in itself isn't enough to 'steal' it. (Unless, in the case of Guild Wars Accounts, the original owner never added it) Getting ownership back through your Master Account is handy. The downside to that is that some people will use one password for just about anything and it's quite possible the same paswword is used for both accounts, but that's very stupid their own problem in my opinion. I always use several passwords of differing toughness.
My Game Account passwords tend to be quick-n-dirty as I want to get going. A Master Account with my credit-card attached tends to have a whole lot stronger pwd which looks like a cross between comic-book swearing and math formulae. :-)
Where/why this gets confusing for people who have 'just' a Guild Wars Game Account at PlayNC is that you don't use the main feature, which is paying for subions.
You'll only need it for purchasing add-ons, password maintenance on your Game Account(s) and such, or if you buy the game on-line through the PlayNC store itself.
Additionally, there's the e-mail account as an account name for Guild Wars. This is rather unusual in both online gaming and the PlayNC portfolio. It's noty PlayNC that's odd, it's Guild Wars' account system :-)
Well, I hope this clarifies things a bit
