PvP Issue :(

Ok I've gotten to the point were I love to PvP. Everytoon I have in mind is PvP. I want a PvP scrapper but I don't know which one I want. The two I need help with are these.

Katana/Regen
Claw/Regen

Whats the pro's and con's for both?
Can they be affective?

Thanks in advance.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Neither of the primaries you chose are very good at pvp. What you will want to roll is a spines/regen or broadsword/regen.

They put out MUCH more damage in less time than katana or claws.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Spine/Regen or Spine/SR is what you want for PvP. Regen if you want to focus on Siren's Call, SR for everything else.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Actually, Katana and Broadsword put out about the same damage in the same amount of time. In fact, the two sets are almost identical, except for appearance.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Key word: almost.

Broad Sword does deal more damage per hit, Katana trades some dmg for recharge, so their damage over time is rather close together. The teir 9s still hurt.

Never had Spines, so I can't comment here.

Claws are the lowes on the damage scale for scrappers, but they trade it for really fast recharges and low end costs.

The same can be said about all sets: they trade one thing for another, there is not true overall ace, bet there are better picks for certain things. PvP is one.

Outta your post, I'd say Katana for PvP, Claws just won't doeal the quick damage you'll need.

Big Chill is a conscranker: he conrols a mob so they do nothing, scraps a target till they can't stand, and tanks what's left till the job's done.

Dive in, have fun, and think about it later.

RE: PvP Issue :(

You want pvp with a scrapper, you have to look at damage types and how much burst you have. The more burst damage you have, the better your chances of getting kills. Claws is too easy to joust around, and it lacks BU, making it the lowest damage pvp set. It can be successful, don't get me wrong. But an opponent skilled at staying out of melee range as much as possible is never gonna be beaten by claws.

Katana and Broadsword are comparable in damage, sort of. Where Broadsword has an advantage in burst damage, Katana makes up for that lack of burst by having higher DPS. Again, you can make both of them work fairly well, but Broadsword's burst is more valuable in a PVP fight.

MA has some nifty tricks to it, but is hurt by its melee only, semi burst damage. It can do alright chunks of burst in the late game, but without Eagle's Claw, it doesn't have the burst necessary to take down a jousting opponent fast enough.

Dual Blades has some more nifty tricks, but its very melee based and is lacking BU to help over come defense based sets.

Reason Spines is a winner is it has great burst, ranged damage, toxic DoT, and some very nasty debuffs, notably an Immob in Impale, as well as -fly. All spines attacks have a slow component to them, and there are not as many sets out there that can resist that slow. You'll never match slows with a Kin, Rad, or Storm debuffing, but it does get annoying if you don't have some form of slow resistance.

My vote is for Spines every time. Not as bursty as broadsword, but the fact that it can hit from range and take down fliers really comes in handy.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Ok there have been several posts from those who have played scrappers and as an avid MM player i will agree that spines is the nastier of the sets to face.

I am a good enough to have faced several both solo and in teams of heroes and of all i have faced only a spine scrapper has been good enough to take me down on his own.

Yeah I know what you're thinking, MM not hard to take down but i will say i have received compliments on my build for its survivability from teams and can count on both hands the number who have managed to beat me one on one so I think I have earned a chance at responding on behalf of the villain side.

And before you regens start dancing about his secondary was dark and it worked a lot better than regen did (no offence just pointing this out) mind you he nailed me pretty good with soul transfer the second time around when I was ready for him but a defeat is a defeat.

So yes spines in my eyes is the better of the sets for pvp.

RE: PvP Issue :(

Thanks for all the help guys I have a spines Stalker and I like it so I guess I'm going to make another one for heroes. But as far as MM's got on Guardian we have some that'll make you cry. My SG buddies Bots/Bubbles pinning people in bus stops and me gassing with posion traps and trip mines. PvP concerns MM are dangerous.

RE: PvP Issue :(

One of the banes of MMs in PvP is a good Spines/Regen scrapper.

As far as Kat vs. BS, naturally BS has a bit more burst damage, but I've seen plenty of folks be very successful with Katana just the same. YMMV :p

RE: PvP Issue :(

To throw my 2 inf into this thread, Broadsword/SR would do best for late game PVP. In a one on one fight I had versus one of those on my ninja/poison MM, I could barely touch them. Granted I think they had elude going, but between the lack of my debuffs hitting them, and the amount of times they were able to hit me with Disembowel and Headsplitter, I was defeated.
Fighting a BS/Regen scrapper, I was able to easily lock down, halt the regen, and dice to shreds that particular scrapper.

While defense isn't always best for PvP purposes, SR's natural +recharge, and resists from the auto's as your HP goes down makes its a very versatile set.

Again just my 2 inf. :)
