Well, I have seen many sigs and links and such on here that could be made a lot more presentable and make everyone's life a lot easier.
So i thought i would write a short guide on how to do some simple things to make your posts look that extra 10% awesome!
Links
To make a link look like this GameAmp, instead of this www.guildwars.gameamp.com, all you have to do is follow these steps...
Find the link you want, such as www.guildwars.gameamp.com, then type the text you would like to appear as your link, between these brackets
Now simple place an equals sign after the first [url=] then place your link after the equals sign, so you should have something that looks like this:
| CODE | | [url=www.guildwars.gameamp.com]GameAmp[/url] |
And viola, you should have a nice and tidy link that looks somewhat like this GameAmp for people to happily click away on. This can come in handy if you ever have a link that is ridiculously long and needs shortening.
Scrolling Words
If you have a Sig that you ever want to jazz up or have words going across so you can fit in more information, here is how...
To have your text scroll from right to left like this:
you need to put your text in between these brackets
| CODE | | <marquee direction=left> Your text </marquee> |
Simple change the direction to 'right' to have it come from the other side of the screen.
To have your text bounce from one side of the screen to the other, like this:
You need to put your text in between these brackets
| CODE | | <marquee behavior=alternate> Your Text</marquee> |
If you would like to have a paragraph instead of just one line, like this:
You need to insert,
after every line you wish to have, in between your desired code, as follows:
| CODE | | <marquee> Stanzhao1 <br> @ <br> GameAmp </marquee> |
Images
If you have an image you want to show on the site, you can link them
This image here,
was linked using this code:

you should be able to do this automatically from most good file hosting sites such as Photobucket
All you have to do is set up an account and your away, alternatively you can use GameAmp itself to host your images, which luckily Evil Geek did all the hard work on making this guide.
Hidden Text
If you want to post something that may be a spoiler within the game, you can hide your text so only people who want to read it can.
This way everyone can take part in a thread, but only people who want to, can read certain parts that are linked to the story etc.
This can be done by simple changing the colour of your text so its only visibly when highlighted, like so,
Stanzhao1@GameAmp
The way to do this is simple using the code shown below,
| CODE | | [COLOR=#4B3719]Stanzhao1@GameAmp[/COLOR] |
All you have done is made the writing the same colour as the background so its only visible when highlighted.
As this forum uses 2 colours for alternate posts, you will have to change the colour code accordingly,
use the 2 codes, for whichever colour background your post will have,
This colour code #4B3719, will give you this colour text
This colour code #36260E, will give you this colour text
That's it for now, but i will be updating this later when i think of more things to put on there, but its 00:12 here and i have work in the morning, so ciao for now :)

I guess it's true when they say that you learn something new every day,
I learnt how to make the text bounce back and fourth, which I didn't before!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest this be stickied. While I'm suggesting things, I suggesting editing in the new subjects into the first post so people don't have to wade through other posts. :3

i was gonna edit this in, but it means changing all the codes and stuff i have to substitute all the < and > for &-gt and &-lt,
and i am a bum, i'll do it at some point i promise :), unless i can bump posts up a thread?

Nice, some of that stuff is new to me (I am not big on HTML obviously). Very useful to new peopel like me.
For the links isn't it just easier to hit "alt-h" then paste the link in the window
for the URL hit enter then type in the name for the link?
