I play weapons TDM and I play it with weapons Stay on in most public server. While that's fun most of the time, TWL and most other ladders have Weapons Stay off. Debating that if weapons stay is on, every player on a better team will have all the weapons, and hence the weaker team will get spawn raped.
On the other hand, when weapons stay is off, the weaker team doesn't get too many weapons anyways.. because the stronger team will have control of the powerups and afterwards all the weapons pickups!
So, it seems to me that a mutator, making Weapons Stay off in an alternative way would balance the game type a bit, and narrow down the wide gap between skilled players and newbies:
How hard is it to make a mutator which allows weapons to get picked up and "removed from their spawn location just like they do now" by new players... but Not picked up by a player who already has the same weapons?
- This way, the skilled player won't have all the weapons stacked up to use at their delight... and the newbies won't be looking for weapons longer than they should.

A mutator probably wouldn't be too hard to code for this, but I don't really see it as something that needs to be included in UTComp.

This is a cool idea if you're learning weapon stay off, but I think weapon stay off should be left as-is for competitive play, because it adds new layers of strategy possibilities. I concur that it should not be added to UTComp. It is, however, a very innovative idea that may help newer players to conquer faster the rather steep learning curve that weapon stay off brings to UT.

Why not just lower the respawn time to something more friendly to new teams? I mean, if you are going to implement this idea. Not that it is necessarily good for pro level tdm.
