I don't know much about Druids, but I can surely say in caster form, they're crap... so either cat or bear form will do you good.
And I think around that level, you should be past Shimmering Flats (1000 Needles), and onto Tanaris.
Anywhere else isn't really good XP i'm thinking... just do all the quests you can find and kill monsters on the way.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years, everyone.

Moonkin is cool, but you have to learn mana management. Done well, they can almost top the charts in damage.
But for levelling, Feral is easier.
Tanaris is a good place to level, though watch for horde.
Also try Searing Gorge, Hinterlands, and Feralas.

Level 44 tanaris is a good place then when you hit high 40's - 50 you can head into the crater and do the quests there. You could also do Searing Gourge and Blasted Lands in your high 40's and low 50's to start those.
Taking a week to level isnt all that uncommon if you arent running a ton of dungeons really.

This is a great guide for leveling and there is also a horde version too. As for the druid, I can assure you that either feral or balance is great, the only real difference is that as feral you will have little downtime, meaning less drinking and eating, but either is fine.

This is the Balance Build I would use once I reach 70. Still haven't decided if I'll go Feral, Resto, or Balance.
But working towards that build from lvl 30-62 has done very well for me.
I ignore Nature's Grasp, mainly because IMO it's a waste of points. If you're doing alot of PvP, I could see it being useful, but if you're just questing/instancing, it's not worth it.
Just cast Entangling Roots/Insect Swarm on target 1, Moonfire/Treant target 2, then Insect Swarm/Moonfire/Starfire/Wrath-spam target 3. If Treants are still alive, kill target 1, maintaining Entangling Roots if you can. By then, 1-2 Starfires should kill target 2.
Also have points in Healing Touch cast time, mainly because I was off-healer in alot of instances.
PS: Remember that if your Treants kill a target by themselves, you gain no exp or quest credit from that kill. Occasionally Moonfire the Treant's target to make sure you get enough damage to register the kill.
Don't spam Moonfire though, unless you're chasing something that could aggro more. The most cost-effective skills are Starfire or Wrath. Starfire Spam for solo, Wrath Spam for grouping.

On that build I would remove the 3 points from Brambles, because not a lot of damage comes from your thorns and I doubt that you would like to have a melee hitting on you anyways. Also roots are more of a crowd control spell than a damage spell, not much damage comes from it. But now you will see that when you get cyclone, and being able to totally incapacitate a target now and not be interrupted that is awesome. Why do you think people say druids are overpowered in arenas? ^_^ ya we rock =P

I wouldn't say Brambles is useless or not enough damage. Solo, Barkskin can easily make Entangling Roots 100% uninterruptable. In instances, Thorns is much more useful, because Entangling Roots only works outdoors.
3 points into Brambles ups the 18 dmg (lvl 52) to 32 dmg for Thorns. Since the person who has the effect(always tank) gains the Damage Meter benefit, any tank I had topped the charts in damage.
Entangling Roots, at lvl 38, normally does 140 dmg. With Brambles, it does 245 damage.
Since the OP isn't lvl 70 yet for Cyclone, I would recommend getting brambles, then respec points later on.
