Scammer alert

ok, I recently got scammed, not really a big deal since I dont play much, but I was wondering how long it takes for A-net to process a report.

And, am I allowed to post the guys name? so no one else gets hurt.

Buuuut you can warn users of what to look for, like, saying this guy/gal is selling frozen ectos as real ectos, etc.

Botchu scammed me once. It was one of the funniest days of my guildwars 'life'. I noticed too, but was like "let's see what happens" and clicked accept. Unrelated, but I thought I'd share.

imo, just ask some computer guru to find out his IP and track him down and beat his head in with a baseball bat. OR you could just wait for ANet. i got banned within a 24 hour period for a char name once. if thats any help :P

RE: Scammer alert

ok, thanks guys. The scam was actually pretty obvious, which is why im not that upset (I dont really care, since his armor was S**T). It consists of 3 "games" where he takes you out of town, first "game" is where you do an emote, and the "coolest" wins 20k. next game is, drop your worst item, and winner gets a nice item (presumably, the item of the last person scammed :P), final game, is drop your best item [I know, that was a horrible idea], and "winner" gets 100k. being */A, he shadowsteps, and takes it. sooo yeah, I'm a moron. oh well, life goes on. hope no one else gets noobed like I did :]

Wow, Never has one of my threads gotten this many responses! and that 24 hour thing does help, thanks.

Ok, some say if its relevant to the report its ok to post the name, some say, not at all. Can I get a confirmation on either?

As far as Anet's new reporting system. I would have no idea. I just remember that back in the day when you wanted to report someone. You had to have some kind of proof that you got scammed (Screeny or Video).

and honestly, I don't think that the scammer loosing their privilage to play for like 72hours is going to make him/her feel hurt.

I wouldn't worry about reporting and just watch what you do on GW.

Doesn't really sound like a scam to me. If you are dumb enough to drop something in a place where anyone can pick it up that is your own dumb fault. Sorry, but that is just the way it is. It's like saying if I threw my wallet on the street and someone came along and picked it up. Then i go and tell the police I got robbed. What do you think they would say to me???? Case closed

RE: Scammer alert

sounds like an old kent road scam trader has rows of dvd players and rows of microwaves in back of his van.
1st offers something worth £10 for £1 doesnt say what it is people start paying and he sells a few people get excited and sells something suggesting its worth £100 for £40 turns out to be worth nothing. allong those lines the way its done is to slowly build you up to think you will win big. this has been happening since time began.

RE: Scammer alert

yeah, "the old road" scam is exactly what it was, and A-net got to me REALLY quick, like.. 3 hours quick. I think its a sign that they will disregard it, but oh well. BE on the lookout ampers! dont be as much of a noob as me! :D
