ok i've had enough of all the people blindly asking stuff before even doing a little research. so that is why i've made this topic.
if you have a question about:
-where does something drop
-what's a good way to come through a mission
-what are good farming builds
please go to one of these sites:

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page
on these sites you can find some basic information about everything in the guild wars world.
if you have a question about you need a team, or you need advice about a build, you can gladly post here! we(atleast I) would love to help you out!
so people, in future, before posting topics, look around the in the forum(in search) if there isn't something like it posted before, or go to one of the wiki's!
this post is to make sure that the most serious posters get more serious topics to reply in, and not only to like eg: "the monk tome" topic!
i hope i'm not the only one thinking like this.[/B]

I kinda agree with this. The only thing though is that the people that this thread is directed to won't see it after a while because they are the ones that don't search through the old thread's. xD
So basically the only people that will find this once it doesn't appear on the Latest Guild Wars Forum Posts will be the people that don't need it because they already know how to search through the forums to find things.
I like the idea though, but anyways it isn't too much of a hassel to answer the trivial questions that some may have.
ill get around to making a new sig later

I tend to Like Guildwiki better, its older and more detailed a bit, but GWW is alot better only for news and talking to the GMs it seems like theres not alot of contributers to GWW as Guildwiki.

I didn't realize there was censorship about what people could post and not post other then things that violate the policies set forth by the owners of this forum.
So I have a better solution...if they bother you that much then don't open them and don't read them. But don't appoint yourself in charge of what people post and don't post. If somoene has a question they are free to ask it. Just like you are free to ignore it. Simple enough don't ya think.

I have tried to be responsible on here, and have often used the search function to try to find information, and 99% of the time it returns 0 results. So, I then attempt to find it by scanning categories, which usually makes me more and more frustrated.
I'm currently playing in GW:EN, and the only thing that I have found are a few green farming guides. Where are the guides for the various missions? That used to be a prime reason for coming here, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside, in favor of farming. Is nobody interested in completing missions and quests anymore?

Wouldn't it be easier just to answer them, instead of being an arse and telling them to go away? If people ask you questions ingame.. answer them! If you don't know the answer, say you don't know, then proceed with external links.
And people asking for help in this community, why the kitten not just help them. >.> It really says alot when the members of this community just tells people wanting and needing help to go away.

people spend so much time on this thread, rather than answering the random questions that pop up about GW(which is almost never lol). Most of the questions nowadays are by people who have played the game for a while and want opinions from people and not wiki bots.

Nothing as extreme as censorship, just interested in having people display some thinking skills.
Granted, there will be some questions still asked, which is good, helps everyone.
But I've seen some people who post questions(multiple threads, no less) every half hour. And questions that a visit to a site made for answers can easily answer.

Having said that, I agree that this site is ehre for answers to questions. So in a sense, asking here is "doing research" :-)
Helping people with developping trouble-shooting skills of their own is one of the highest goals we can aspire to at AMP. Lowest would be to flame people for asking.

i never do that, if you just read through my posts i always helped if i could, i never ever flamed! it's just that we might get some more interesting topics in top 5 and not only help needed posts

then you need help with a party. as stated, you have in oppinion a really valid reason to post and ask for help from us!

You misunderstand me, or take personally a global statement.
let me rephrase it. Since AMP is for players, by players, the original post should not read:

There was a time when AMP stood for the place you goo ask a question, no matter how newbish or noobish and you would get a nice, helpful answer in stead of having to browse through 3 pages of flames and people trying to make wise-cracks before finding a remotely useful response.
While this approach of "take basic questions elsewehere" isn't flaming, it is on the slippery slope that leads there.
And there's people on this site right now who are down that path a very long way. The Guild Wars community of this site today is a lot less helpful than it was a year ago, or two years ago.
There were times we were held up to the WOW community at AMP as an example. Of late it's the other way around, isn't it.
That saddens me. I don't like to see that spirit of helpfulness peeter out.
If the other sites have better information than ours does, well it's time for the community to get up and do something about that. Gameamp is for the players, by the players. Get the site updated with new / better information and then you can point people to our site again rather than others.

I just thought when reading this topic how empty GameAmp Guildwars would be then... im quite sure half of the topics posted here no matter what story behind them, still carry a question about the game itself, one that can easily be answered by Wiki yes, but sometimes its better to just hear various opinions rather then just one, textbook answer from Wiki.
But thats in my honest opinion :)

the thing is, people who visit this site already know wiki and stuff but they want human answers. There are countless times wiki has the said to do the wrong stuff for quests and do missions a bad way. People find out the little tricks/glitches so might as well share them here. Wiki can't do that for someone.
