hey guys. with the expansion ive been sort of testing around with different builds. Ive got a draenei shaman up to lvl 18 right now. so far i love the shaman class, but i was wondering if they are good for all the fun stuff later on like Dungeons and Raids. also im following the Enhancement talent branch. Is that i good branch? it seemed like to fit more of my play style.

Yay shamans pwn!!
You do really great dps as enhancement so yea I would say that raids will want you. I've been enhancement since 10 and never looked back.

enhance is the lvling spec but once you get late game people generally laugh at you for being enhance just as ret for a pally, people generally spec ele at 60-70 since it has a far better dps output for less gear/skill. mind you im not saying enhance is dps incompetent, its just in the same predicament ret is in, the state of mind of players.
edit: armory seems to be a month out of date :P

Well, I've got a shammy and I've never anything but enh. I dislike ele (if I wanted to be a pewpewcaster I would've rolled a mage, DUH!). Resto shammies, like any other healers are always wanted. :P
Enhancement is the lvling spec like said before. I think you'll get to do 25 raids like Kara as enh and maybe even 10 man raids but you'll have a VERY hard time doing heroics as enh because shammies have poor crowd control abilities.
In bigger parties, especially melee based, they're great because they provide dps aswell as increase dps for other melee based classes with every crit they land.

thanks guys. im thinking about going with enhancment at lest through to 60's. then i might switch over to elemental but who knows.

I'v created and levelled my shaman thru level 20. I'v broken from convent and started with pure restoration. :-)
I've seen them as very viable healers in the later stages. I'm despising their leather till 40, then mail ability. O.O
Dang priests can only wear cloth. :-(

Arf, wasn't one priest enough of healing? T.T
My timmyshammeeh has always been enh specced and always will be. It's the only talent tree I like from the ones that shamans have. :D

And about ele doing more damage..... hahahaaaaaa yea right. Maybe at higher levels, but ele shams have major mana problems, and just spamming lightning bolts isn't very fun imo.

like said earlier in the post, ele shamans to more dmg, if you want to do more dmg as a ench shaman your going to have to need good gear. as for raiding at 70 if thats what you want to do, shamans are generally needed for their totems, they can be put in a group w/ casters and healers to help regen their mana, very useful during boss battles, and they lessen dmg thats the tanks take, also very useful. Sadly though, for 5 man heroics, their CC isn't anything compared to sheeps traps or saps, you may have earth bind totem and frost shock, but do you really want to spend half the battle kiting mobs?

Shamans have no CC, they do have slowing effects but no CC. As for end game, heroics/10 man ya they're really good as healers and buff support via totems, as dps they fall behind other classes. For raiding healers are always welcomed and for dps they are somewhat accepted, they're totems are loved in raids, WF, mana spring and so on... for arenas they're not the most famous class in the world :(
