lol I believe they have used old drains as conduits for fibre optic in some cases where a road is listed and cant be dug up. not ones that are in use tho :/ I hope.

I believe this comes from an old Dilbert comic, where the boss tells Asok and Wally to provide internet access through a sewage system. This is of course the boss's attempt to one up a co-manager's installation of a sprinkler system in his yard.
