OK, so i hit play, the load bar pops up, loads 100% and the little exteel picture pops up in the middle of the screen, sit for a few seconds and this come up:
"nProtect GameGuard
Failed to Initialize GameMon. Try rebooting or closing possible programs that can cause a collision."
Any ideas?

Gameguard is an application that protects games from being illegally run on systems. I.e. anti-pirating software.
Ehm, not sure why it's trying to run when a freely distributed game-client is run, nor what is blocking it. You got any software running to prevent Gameguard doing its job? i.e. Any pirated software on your machine? (Don't answer, we don't want to know) Just look in that direction if it's the case.

Actually, I think nGuard is an anti-hacker software, not anti-pirate. It prevents hackers from using bots and such to exploit the game.

I went nuts trying to figure this GameGuard issue out and in my case a simple solution worked on both of my systems. I have 2 separate computers with both running 32 bit Vista Home Professional.
All I did was rename the GameGuard directory under Exteel to GameGuard.SAV
Simple Huh?
It worked like a charm on both systems. It seems to have disabled GameGuard and it works fine now.

What do you mean with "All I did was rename the GameGuard directory under Exteel to GameGuard.SAV" ??
Where is that GameGuard file that you need to rename? I need the path. You mean this: NCSoft/Exteel/System/Gameguard ?? If you do,then it doesn't work; when I change the GameGuard-folder to GameGuard.sav, there's still the same problem and when I change it to GameGuard.SAV there is some error that says something like this: "You need permission to...", so I can't rename it to GameGuard.SAV ...
Help please?

Its honestly a really stupid problem. I dont know how changing gameguard directory worked for the above person, but I do know what gameguards issue is.
Vista has what I will call a "Ghost Admin" (not sure what the actual name for it is) the Ghost will pop up when ever you try to install something saying so&so program needs permission to continue. This is a precaution to prevent website trojans and certain types of spyware from installing itself with out your knowledge. That feature of vista is where the gameguard collision occurs. Game Guard not being updated for vista will hit that wall and instead of prompting for permission to run, it shuts off and stops the game. One solution is to disable that feature of vista (unfortunately Im not sure how to go about that) The other solution (which brings up another issue which I'm working on getting around, game cant find the server) is going to the directory NCsoft/Exteel/System and right clicking Exteel.exe and selecting the run as administrator. This bring up the Ghost Admin prompt asking you to confirm the action accept and game will run however i still run into cant find the server error. Also further note you cant do this trick through the ncsoft launcher as it wont let you have the option to run exteel as the ghost admin

Ps Running as Admin Trick
I found out why it couldnt find the server
nc soft launcher has that info stored
so the work around i have is
start the ncsoft launcher
right click exteel in the launcher and click properties
should see some dumb directory stuff just click browse
that will open a window into system folder of exteel directory you will see the exteel.exe right click that and run as admin
