| W/Mo Droks Run - Looking for Build Critique |
|
|
|
I've never had much success with the old "Charge" build for doing this run. I know the popular thing to do these days is to run this with a dervish, but I've come up with a W/Mo build for doing this run that I think works almost as well. I'm looking for thoughts, or ways to improve it. Here it is:
Armor set:
Knights Templar Helm of Superior Vigor
Radiant Gladiator Hauberk of Superior Absorption
Radiant Gladiator Gauntlets of Minor Strength
Radiant Gladiator Gauntlets of Superior Strength (yes, two sets of gauntlets...I'll explain why later on)
Radiant Gladiator Leggings of Minor Tactics
Lieutenant's Gladiator Boots (your choice of rune here)
Weapon set:
Your choice. I went with a sword with +28 health, and a shield with +30 health.
At some point, I'll experiment with a weapon that makes enchantments last longer.
Point distribution:
12 Strength
12 Tactics
6 points left over
With armor equipped:
14 strength
12 tactics
Skill set:
Sprint / Enraging Charge
Balanced Stance
Endure Pain
Healing Signet
Signet of Stamina
Deny Hexes
Holy Veil
Spellbreaker
How it works:
Start each zone by equipping your gauntlets with the Superior Strength rune, use Signet of Stamina, then switch back to your gauntlets with the Minor Strength rune. When you use Signet of Stamina, it raises your max health by 317 points. But you don't want to have to deal with the -75 health that comes from the Superior Rune, so switch your gloves back. You'll notice that when you do this, you get the 75 health back from switching the armor, but Signet of Stamina will stay in effect as though you were still wearing the Superior Rune. The effect of this is your max health is 905, and 1,191 when you use Endure Pain. This is one of the advantages of this build over a dervish.
The use of Sprint / Enraging Charge / Balanced Stance / Healing Signet should be pretty self explanatory.
I choose Deny Hexes over Remove Hex / Smite Hex. The energy cost, cast time, and recharge time are identical, but because when you have Spellbreaker equipped, Deny Hexes will remove two hexes each time it is used instead of just one.
Holy Veil should be used any time you are going to run past ice golems or ice imps, so that if you get pinned down by a hex, you can simply remove Holy Veil and end the hex without breaking stride.
On to the real meat of how this build works. The reason I've found better success with this build is because it deals with the imps and the golems more effectively than the classic "Charge" build. Its effects only last for five seconds, and it takes 45 seconds for the skill to recharge. Make it count. Aggro the group for which you are using this skill. As soon as they start running toward you, cast Spellbreaker on yourself, and run like hell toward a clear spot where you can wait for it to recharge.
Cons:
There's no room for Purge Conditions, and sometimes you step on a spike trap at the wrong time and die. You could swap one of the anti-hex spells or Endure Pain and bring it along. I've tried a lot of experimenting to come up with this skill set, and this is what has worked the best for me.

Well, that's it. Comments? Critique?

spellbreaker on a wammo is fail. u need divine favor to actually make it worthwhile, and even with divine favor you have to wait for a ridiculous recharge.
quit gw for good. end of story.

might as well use VoS and go W/D to make the 5 seconds count even more and be able to use it 5 seconds later. Plus 15 energy sucks with spellbreaker

I'm looking for ways to refine and better the build. I didn't ask you to tell me I'll fail, because I know this build works - I've done the run twice tonight with it.

That's a really good idea. I don't know why I never thought of that. I'm going to give it a try now.
Thanks dude!

well i found that idea somewhere(not wiki) looking for a build for running on my derv. I think it consists of pious concentration to remove hexes and conditions with VoS as the close encounter spell removal. I just felt like logging on two different accounts to critique, don't ask why :P.

Ok, switching to Warrior/Dervish was definitely a good move. Vow of Silence > Spellbreaker, without a doubt. Silver Warrior, you win a cookie. That was a bloody brilliant idea!

Hehe I used to run droks when they didn't put in the worms etc. If I even run a guildy now I use my dervish (real stupid one, only use her for running tbh).
But it's good to see that someone still has some trust in the good old warrior ^^
