Kin/ something (PvP)

So seeing all the fun that you can have with Kins what would be the best for PvP wise. Be it Troller of Defender.

RE: Kin/ something (PvP)

I would say either Ice, mind or grav depending on what you want to do. Ice trollers are great team PvPers but not as great flying solo (Though the best PvP I've seen came from an ice/rad troller). Mind, of course, due to the lack of psi protection but it has some very good powers. Grav is where I would go if you plan to solo pvp much. Illusion might work pretty well due to the lack of fear resists. Well, that wasn't too useful an analysis was it. I've recommended almost every primary (except fire because its too great at PvE to add it to this list). So basically, it depends on what you're looking to do. One big PvE power (fulcrum shift) is much less useful in PvP as it requires multiple targets to really become useful... so best to rely on your single target buffs/debuffs, you could do very well to go energy mastery and use power boost + transference to sap a large portion of endurance. Also, as your going to have to be close to take advantage of transference and your heal, you may want to focus on a primary with a PbAoE debuff or slow... maybe ice, fire, or something with a PbAoeE hold wouldn't be a hinderence.

As for a defender... this is where the strategy gets interesting. I'd recommend an electric/kin with the power mastery set. Build for end draining. Basically burn your opponent down... this works very well against tanks, if you can hit them. Then, with the dmg buffs from kinetic, you can deal a decent amount of dmg. You're no blaster, but definitely can output more than any other defender type.

RE: Kin/ something (PvP)

Kin/something, def/troller, hmm.. well there is a few ways to go with it, and any combination could do.

Since your set on taking Kinetics, theres only a narrow list here, now with Rads, that's something different...

#1 Damage Booster. Use kinetics to boost damage output, take a secondary that can go well with it. Defenders get a wide list of ranged attacks so this does well, a Kin/Energy would be nice, using KB to keep range while pounding down. Rad is also helpful, but not as damaging, and close quarters. You'll only have trouble against Invul/Stone, but their mele will let youstay at range. unless you go Psi, then its Willpower you should watch out for.

#2 End Sapper. Kinetic/Electric slot for end mod on everything. Good backup, not so much damage, but with you sapping their end, there is little to worry about in a long fight. Only Stone and Dark Armor have anything against this, again their mele will let you stay at range, but they can have some ranged hits, but you should be ok.

#3 Combo Slow. Seen one guy that's a pain in the butt, but once my Ice Armor had permafrost, he needs to run a bit more. But Slow is awfuly hard to resist. An Ice/Kin Troller focused on a single target could grind their opponent to a halt, hold them in place, and tear them apart. However, a good defensive Ice Armor nulifies this quite well.

There are plenty of other variables along with this, but these are pretty much the core of why you go with Kin in the first place. Not sure that much on Vill-side for resists/defense, don't play that much. Have fun.

Big Chill is a conscranker: he conrols a mob so they do nothing, scraps a target till they can't stand, and tanks what's left till the job's done.

Dive in, have fun, and think about it later.

Well, I would have to say, a nice solid ice/kin troller or a psy/kin defender. Both sets benefits are pretty obvious, with ice constantly slowing and holding enemies and psy slowing their recharge (and lets face it nobody likes fighting someone who is psy, right?), they should both help you out in PvP.
