On the news today....It shows that they are a class act IMO
Patriots to honor young fan booed in Indianapolis
By HOWARD ULMAN, AP Sports Writer
January 15, 2008
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Patriots owner Robert Kraft sat behind his wide desk and marveled at how his team's jersey could be the target of so many boos -- even when it's worn by a 14-year-old girl.
This wasn't Randy Moss or Rodney Harrison hearing the catcalls. They're used to it.
This was Anna Grant, a high school freshman who had worked hard to win the Punt, Pass & Kick competition in her age group as the team's representative.
When she was introduced along with the other winners before the fourth quarter of San Diego's playoff win last Sunday, she was the only one booed by the crowd in Indianapolis, home of New England's fiercest rival.
"Why should a champion be booed?" the boss of the three-time Super Bowl winners said Tuesday. "She won an intensive competition. She's supposed to be honored."
His team is getting the same reaction -- not because of the spying incident in the season opener but because fans like to see teams at the top get knocked off, he said. If the Chargers can't do it Sunday, New England will be headed to its fourth Super Bowl in seven seasons.
But first comes the coin flip before the AFC championship and Grant will be out on the field for that, invited by Kraft, who felt badly that she had been booed.
"What I decided is that we would honor her here before this game," Kraft said in an interview in his office filled with photos, footballs and other memorabilia. "We will recognize her as the winner on the field. Our fans will know."

why boo a 14 year old girl. No need for that. If I owned the stadium I would have kicked everyone out and told them to come back when they got manners.

I read that about an hour ago, and I fully agree. I actually am cheering for the Patriots to win the super bowl now that my Cowboys are out. And after an act like that... they better win, or I might have to take some serious flak from my friends.

The girl shouldn't be booed, and she shouldn't feel bad.
Lemme guess half the people that booed were fat and lazy, lets see some of their fat a**es play football.
I seriously hate general public, everyone jumps on bandwagons and the it's always one side hates the other and vice versa.
Its like this for example.
A UPS guy gets booed by some people that UPS sucks... a FedEx guy walks by the next day and gets booed that FedEx sucks. Yet they are the only companies that deliver packages to that building.
People just like to boo for fun and entertainment, while most of the time they have no freaking clue what they are booing about.

My question is why would you wear one of a teams biggest rival's jersey to walk out on the field when not even playing that team? If the age of 14 is to be considered one must also wonder why the parents would let her wear it. Surely anyone knows that doing such a thing is just asking for a reaction. I'm not saying I agree with them booing (cause I don't but knowing how rude the majority of the worlds' people can be) but I don't agree with the big deal made of it when if it was reversed and she had on the other teams jersey and was in New England more than likely the same would have happened. Just not smart on either side.

It really shouldn't of mattered that she was wearing the rival's jersey, it still isn't right, and the people in that stadium should have had more self restraint.
And to Chrisworld, too true man.

I'm not saying it should matter just saying anyone should know how it would have turned out. One person once said one person may be smart but a group of people is chaos. It doesn't make any difference in the fact of it was at The colts home town or even that it was football. The same thing would happen even at a high school game. Its not right but one has to know people very rarely think of others and their feelings.
All I was trying to say before was that people that attend sports events are usually avid fans and will verbalize their support of their team in a variety of ways. Booing or cheering being a couple of them. It was unfortunate that it happened to someone so young she went into the situation knowing what teams were playing and she choose to wear a rival team's jersey. I'm not saying it was right for her to be booed but they were not booing her but the rival team's jersey. Just like New England is not doing this just cause a girl got booed but in the fact of a girl in their jersey got booed.

If it was an adult that would be one thing. If was me, and I wore it, and they booed I would have been waving my arms antogonizing it even more all the while laughing about it. But this was a kid who had busted her butt to win a competition, a girl and football competition none-the-less. That is just ridiculous. Ecsp given that the Colts themselves are a class act team. Too bad the same couldnt be said for the fans there that day.

Thats why I said I didn't agree with them booing but in the same token even at 14, I knew how people act about their team and their rivals. Its also why I said they didn't see a 14 year old girl but instead they just saw the jersey which is what they booed not her as a person.
Edit : Just wanted to add what I've been trying to get at is the ones that held the competition should have looked at this better. She was representing the Pats and won, why wouldn't they in the first place not honor her there at the Pats game. What better way to honor the person than at the home of the team she was representing.

How about them cowboys, think thye have their tee times set up yet? (sorry couldn't help it).
As a Giants fan all I have been hearing all year long is how you beat us twice so this was kind of payback for all the dallas fans at work :). I think the packers are going to win it all to be honest, but I can always hope.

If I remeber correctly they booed her but not the one wearing the chargers Jersey (the team they were actually playing, and losing too). Just rude if you ask me but

It was like the old times under Keegan, with visitors blown away by a black-and-white-flecked hurricane, goals flying in from all angles, fans thrilling to flowing football and even a slice of defensive madness.
Before a smiling Keegan, goals from Michael Owen, Cacapa, James Milner and Damien Duff comfortably accounted for Stoke City, making light of the loss of Emre to a red card and the late concession of Liam Lawrence's elegant consolation.
Tougher assignments lie ahead, notably Arsenal at the Emirates in the next round, but Newcastle fans will not heed any words of caution, not with the ultimate cavalier back in town.
Chants of "Keegan, Keegan" reverberated around this famous ground. Anyone venturing that Newcastle required someone who would build a club, as well as a team, who would develop youngsters as well as a brief feel-good aura, who would appreciate the importance of defending as well as attacking, would have been run out of Toon. Romance was having a party at St James' last night and realism was not invited.
Hah I don't even like Newcastle and I enjoyed that.
There is some pretty despicable behaviour at football games but booing someone other than the ref is just going to work against those its ment to help.

Each of the 6 champions was referred to as "representing" a team. If I remember correctly each kid had on the jersey of the team they were "representing." This was all put on by the marketing guys NFL/whoever sponsored the contest. It was probably part of the deal. "We're going to announce you all as the national champions of your respective groups, and oh by the way you're going to be wearing a jersey of your hometown/favorite team that you will be representing today." If you're going to blame anyone blame them for their obvious oversight of the total lack of intelligence of a mob of drunk football fans. ;)
They did the same thing to us my freshman year at the University of Oklahoma. Boren's all about his stupid National Merit Scholar statistics so they paraded all the freshman NMSs out on the field before a football game and made us wear these stupid National Merit Scholar t-shirts. You have no idea what it feels like to stand around in front of 80,000+ people who are all wondering what the heck are those dorks doing out there on the field and why in the world are they all wearing those stupid shirts?
Sometimes the marketing guys have great ideas on paper but they don't really think through the real-world application of their ideas.

In '94 I got to go see Michigan vs Notre Dame at Notre Dame. I went with a co worker who was a huge Irish fan and he had the tickets. me, being the huge Wolverine fan I am wore Maze and Blue from head to toe and I got to sit right in the middle of the Irish section. I was loving it!!! People were yelling things at me and some even threw things. Michigan won 26-24 and I got booed out of the place. I was truly in heaven!!! LOL!!!!!

I think that really is the whole moral of the story. If your a guy or just someone w/ a great sense of humor, you go along w/the mob and rile them up sum more. If i had been her, after a couple of seconds of them booing, i would have shown them my favorite finger >:)

I agree. And the part of her just being 14 well we have younger kids that get booed here as we have sports in Elementary school and yes the fans will boo kids with rival jerseys on as well as they will sit on the side of the road and egg the buses as they go by. Its why I said people as a group are usually chaotic. There will always be fans of sports or whatever that always takes things too far. Thats why they should be calculated in on any ideas.
