Hi

Hi guys! I am going to join LOTRO: Shadows of Angmar. Right now, i am downloading the Hi-Res version and it is 7% done. It is the trial so im thinking. Anything I should know about? Because I need a break from Guild Wars!

Any help? Thanks

RE: Hi

Cool, well coming from Guild Wars you might (like myself) you might enjoy LotRO's pve far more. The game takes like 100x longer to 'complete' the storyline, and getting to the max level can't be done in ~7 hours.

First off, you may want to choose a race:- man, elf, dwarf or hobbit. They all start in different locations (though elf and dwarf are fairly close) and only some races can have certain classes. (e.g. no hobbit captains)
You might want to go ahead and choose what class you mant to play, I'll give you the rundown.

Champion:
The champion is like a warrior, with less defence, more offense, and more aoe attacks. The champions are the pure melee DPS class, and if you're going for a character with looks, then the heavy armour may be to your taste.

Hunter:
The hunter is the ranged DPS class, dealing more burst damage, and utilising some traps and snares to keep combat ranged. The hunter has to make sure not to deal too much damage or they will be at a serious disadvantage in close combat. This class is possibly most like the fire elementalist only using bows- high offense, low defense.

The Minstrel:
Pretty much a monk, some smiting like skills, but a main goal of healing allies with encouraging music.

The Loremaster:
Pretty much like a water elementalist, lots of crowd control, a fair amount of damage and energy management. Loremasters have personal pets to take the damage for them as they cast spells from a distance.

The Burglar:
The burglar is a jack of all trades class, in ceratin occasions, the burglar can have high defence and offence. They use stealth (almost invisible) to sneak behind and exploit the target's vulnerabilites. They are also great for opening fellowship maneuvers. (a group skill) Though a burglar caught alone will skills still recharging is in trouble.

The Guardian:
The guardian is effectively a guild wars tank, holding the mobs aggro and sustaining it, as to take and reduce damage headed for the fellowship (party). Guardians are pretty much a necessity, like minstrels, in all fellowships.

The Captain:
The capatin is similar to a paragon, supporting the group with buffs, light heals and still dealing a fair amount of damage. They utilise heralds (like pets) or standards to support allies, and they're usually first to lead the charge.

Also something else to consider is what crafting professions you want to have, but I'll let you find that out in-game. =) Have fun!

RE: Hi

Yep it is a nice game and one I think would be especially friendly to folks who are new to MMO's. Anyhow with some first hand experience under my belt hopefully I can have something worth reading to say around this little ole part of Gameamp. and of course welcome sh1ntu!
