Questions about Nightfall

I'm debating on which expansion I should get. If I get Nightfall, will I get all of the stuff that was on Factions as well? And if I get EN do I get of the stuff that was on Nightfall?

In other words, which one should I get?

RE: Questions about Nightfall

All Three! ^_^ Factions and Nightfall are both great games. Getting either and adding the keys to your current acocunt will give your Prophecies toons access to all of Cantha, many new skills and armor. Plus an additional 2 character slots, and two new classes to choose from.

Nightfall introduces the hero system, which they are customizable Henchmen. new skills, 2 character slots, armor, and access to all of Elona.

Eye of the North has 10 heros, skills, armor, dungeons, and a larger Tyria to explore.

All in all, I suggest doing some research. While Factions and Nightfall are "stand-alone" games while being expansions if you merge. Eye of the North is the first true expansion. Guild Wars Wiki can give you lots of info on the 3 games. Choose which one is right for you. :)

RE: Questions about Nightfall

So if I were to get Nightfall, would I get the two classes that are introduced in Factions? and same goes with Eye of the North to Nightfall?

RE: Questions about Nightfall

Sorry, I skipped those questions, didn't I? :)

Factions introduces the Assassin and Ritualist classes. Nightfall introduces the Paragon and Dervish classes. Eye of the North introduces no new classes. With that said, the answer to your question is no. Only way to play Assassin and Ritualist is to have Factions. The Only way to play Paragon or Dervish is to have Nightfall. Only thing Eye of the North introduces for either class is new armor and new skills.

RE: Questions about Nightfall

I will kind of break down the way I feel about each game to maximize your enjoyment based upon I guess what you like the most.

Factions - I hated this game when it first released. I really despised the Assassin and the Ritualist class. I hated the story line, didn't like the 2 splitting sides things. After time, I now find myself mostly playing in factions, realizing how great an assassin can be in a party if played well, and how awesome a ritualist can be if played right. Factions will irritate you at first, at the city is very much like a huge puzzle. The afflicted were a pain for anyone as their explosions would instantly kill a frontliner who was hurting during the battle, but they lowered that. The missions are very well played and are a challenge to do. They can be rushed through, but most do take planning.

If you want great re playability, good storyline, Alliance Battles (can be fun, also can be frustrating), then Factions is your choice.

Nightfall - The introductions of Hero's were the big thing with this campaign. This is my favorite part of this campaign. I liked the whole storyline at first when I got this game, but I was more drawn to the 'It's a wide open area, not a maze city.'. After playing for a bit, I found I was having to grind Sunspear points and Lightbringer points just to be able to progress in the storyline. I had to put a halt on my progress to go out and kill specific enemies over and over to gain rep points. It got really boring, and a lot of the missions were not that hard, just really long and strung out. Then the realm of Torment came into play, and it went from being extremely easy, to utterly irritating. The whole duplicate monster spell on the tormented creatures was annoying.

Nightfall to me was an opportunity to grab a lot of different Hero classes in order to enjoy the other games better.

EOTN - Eye of the North expansion is great. It adds heroes for those who do not have Nightfall. The multiple dungeons do pose a challenge to any player who wants to do them. You do not have to grind rep points if you don't want to, but they help the PvE only skills. All quests are repeatable, and actually benefit you with XP and gold for doing them over.

EOTN was good for getting a few Heroes, and some random things here and there to do over and over. Each dungeon was worth doing to add into a book of records to cash in at the end for rep/XP/gold, plus all the drops gotten within it. Plus the Hall of Monuments gives you a chance to record your titles, etc. to unlock unknown things in Guild Wars 2.

If I was making a decision on what to buy now, I would say get Factions and EOTN. Nightfall might burn you out too fast with the rep farming over and over. EOTN is short in story line, but doing the side dungeons, quests, etc. do make it a pretty long experience.

Don't completely take my opinion though, as I am being biased towards a campaign based on how long I have played. I still believe the one with all the good elements in it is Prophecies. All the campaigns are good, just some are a lot better than others.

I rank the campaigns as follows:
Prophecies
Factions
GW:EN (EOTN)
Nightfall

RE: Questions about Nightfall

if you can only get one (or one right now), get nightfall. has the advantage of heroes, which cannot be stressed enough how much better you can do with them behind you as opposed to regular henchmen.
as a side note, you can use your unused heroes as a makeshift storage for weapons/shields you want bu can't use

RE: Questions about Nightfall

Faction, prof and Nightfall are seperate games that are connected, buying one of them will only give you the content of that game.
Buying the newer one will not unluck the content of the older one.
Eye of the north is an expansion and you require atleast 1 of the 3 to play.

I think Prof is the best.
