ive been doing some homework and came to find that orcs rock as hunters with the added beast damage. right now i have a raptor. i do like the raptor but i heard and im not sure about this that turtles have some what alot of armor. I was wondering if the turtles was a worthwhile pet or i should just stick with my raptor. im in the berrens right now or is their another pet in the barrens thats better than my raptor.
thanks

Turtles are nice tanks, they even have a skill that increases their durability for a short time. But they don't cause very much damage at all.
And unless you're aggroing a whole bunch of enemies at once while solo, you don't really need a tank of that durability. Also, he'll be useless in instances. The irony is, Turtles don't really cause that much damage to hold aggro anyway without growl.
Cats are more than enough for my hunter, especially since I'm specc'd Beastmaster. He can tank 2-3 enemies at once and put out more than enough damage.
Plus he can prowl(and extra damage coming out of prowl), which is very nice.
So, unless you have a specific reason to have a 90% tank-10% damage pet, don't bother with it.

Then again, turtles are pretty uncommon among hunters while most of them have cats or raptors or boars. Go turtle for major style points. I named mine soup :)

turtles arn't worth getting, their dps is utter crap, which is what hunters are for, especially in raids/groups. boars are used more PvP wise cause of their charge, so stick w/ your raptor or get a cat or wolf, personally i would get the cat cause of the stealth and extra dmg.
there's a reason everyone has a cat/wolf instead of a turtle... they're a lot better.

cats are DPS
gorillas are good tanks with thunderstomp and medium DPS
boars are nice pvp :)

Well yeah, for instances/raids it's better to go for the pets that do the most dps, namely the cat, raptor and the ravager (maybe the wind serpent, but I think they're kind of iffy).
If you're soloing/leveling it really doesn't matter that much and you might as well go for the pet that you think looks coolest. I'm currently using a wolf because I think it's just more befitting of an orc to have one.

i have a cat with my hunter, because i feel that it is the best all around pet. one thing is that alot of hunters have cats. so it depends if you want to stand out or not.

There is mention somewhere that there is a wolf pet that look almost identical to a Wolf Mount...said something to the effect that it basically looks like you mount your pet and ride away :p

Anything pet related I would suggest visiting Petopia has everything you would need to know about the different pets & skills.
Cats & Ravagers best DPS
I currently have a Ravager that I run about with.
