ok ok ok i know its a while off, but i like to be prepared
so im just looking for little ideas (or big ones) for V-day i just want to show the girl of my dreams how much she means to me.......ahhhhhh shes so wonderful :)

This is what I intend to do.
Get a box, size is irrelevant, filled with polystyrene. At the middle of it put a ring in one of those box things. Tie a note to it saying, Come round the side of your house and write her name on the top of the main box.
Ring the door, run round the corner and wait....

As a man of the world, i feel i can offer you some sound advice.
Valentines day has always been a special day for that special woman of yours. But the key here is not to make her feel special. If you do she will expect it every day. thats right! valentines day is no more than a woman's test to see how far a man will go. Soon you will be eating out of the palm of her hand like the mule you are. So if you want to keep your woman, you have to show her how much of a man you really are.
'But Stan, how do i do that?' i hear you ask, well its simple, follow these simple steps and you will be sure to have a life time of happiness without the high expectations.
1) A woman craves structure. If your gf/wife is expecting a relaxing day at home and has done all the housework so she can take it easy on valentines day, dont let her. When she is in bed and fast asleep get the house in a mess. A few tricks i usually use is spreading shoe polish by the front door. Get a cloth and simple smudge it in as hard as you can, leaving the impression 'someone' must have done it the day before without her noticing with muddy boots. Alternatively you can knock over some sort of valuable vase/picture and make sure it breaks. This can easily be blamed on a household pet or alternatively burglars. Nothing says i love you on valentines day like the thrill of robbery.
2) Make 'yourself' breakfast in bed. Toast and hot drink is acceptable, or you can always make the works and sit there munching away. When she comes over and tries to take some, have a slipper or newspaper ready to swipe those pesky hands away. If she gets mad, a headlock can usually calm her down. Remember, the madder she gets, the more it means she loves you.
3) Do nothing. When she suggests that you do something special together to mark this fantabulous day that is valentines, simple take a long hard look at her, pause for about 5 seconds, then suggest that the front lawn could do with the grass cutting. Quickly snap back to whatever you were previously doing. Make sure your back is turned away from her and suggest she in a calm but loud manner 'Maybe you should do it now in case it rains later'. Never forgetting the golden rule (mad = love). And we all know you cant argue with maths right?

1 cards, yes plural as in more than one(morning and evening)
2 write something from the heart in all the cards
3 something silly, to make her laugh (beanie baby, etc)
4 flowers!!!!!
5 something romantic (romantic dvd or cd)
6 make the day her's and her's alone. this means she holds the remote, picks where to go eat, or you make dinner and clean up.

hehe, dunno, i've always found jewelery works the best,
pre-christmas this year was diamond earings, christmas was a diamond pendant and gold chain, last easter was an engagement ring, not sure what Valentines will be this year, probably a bracelet to match all the other stuff.
not sure though, going on a fly-in business trip to wollaston lake, sk this week, lots of trapping done up there with some exquisite furs being crafted by the first nations people, might get her something like that.
to me, it depends on what you think she's worth, if she's worth $3000 earings than by all means! i always try to be reasonable, you want to get something that's super meaningful, that doesn't always neccessarily mean most expensive you can afford!
what's her heart want? what makes her go, "oh wow!"? or, "that's so beautiful!"... those are things you want to get!
presentaion of whatever you get is up to your creativity,, when i proposed i timed it out with the local catholic church bells to have them ring about a minute after asking! with the earings, i gave them to her at the mall and had "palmed" them as if i had just stolen them and slinked around looking "guilty" before i did, it was fun!

isn't vaentines day supposted to be for men AS WELL? (just though i would raise that point.)
we spend the time rushing around for them (apart for stan) so its not much of an enjoyable day for us. all we get is a thank you.

Every year on my old school there is some rose thingy,
ou can buy small cards, write name + class of your love (or victim hehe) and a nice message. Then put the card in the box and on valentines day all cards will be brought to the right person with a rose on it ;) the best is that you don't have to write your name on the end, so you can do it anonymous.
did that a some time. but what this year..

write on it, "Love *your name* or Chuck Norris will roundhousekick you!"

haha! everything you wrote stan is hilarious and every guy can relate and would want to do that! LOL!
unfortunately that wouldn't work with my woman, certain parts of my body would be put in other parts of my body or just plain gone, the couch or camp-cot would be a forever dwelling and i'd need to cook my own food, thus leading to starvation, and ultimately my death, which would lead her to possessing my mustang through a will! not a pretty picture. a guy should never lose his car. :P see how fast it gets bad?
she's already pissed that she's not coming to my "advisory meeting" this week at the Spa in moose jaw, V-day's gotta be extra nice. hehe.

one might think that, but it's not, most guys wouldn't miss valentine's day if it was gone forever, it usually means less cash for beer or whiskey when you need to be buying cards, flowers, presents, etc.... on the flip side, most girls look forward to valentine's day and EXPECT something special from their man.
edit, edit: it could be for guys in the end if you make her day special, she might make yours special too! :D you need to be the instigator though. hehe.

I personally thin kthat you shouldn't make an excessive fuss over valentines day.
Make her feel special and loved every day of the year, and when it comes to valentines day give her a card maybe, and a single rose.
She knows you love her because you treat her like a godess every day othe year, so valentines day will no longer be as stressful on you or your wallet, and she wil lstill know you love her and that she is your world :D

My GF likes simple stuff, so I will get her a card and a rose, then we are gonna go see a movie, then chill at her place and watch the sunset(Retro, you get credit cause you are the woman MASTER :D). I'll probably bake some stuff over there so she has something to eat, I dunno... but keep it simple, complexity=/=love. All you ahev to do is make her feel appreciated (unless she is mean, but I doubt she is with how you praise her ;D)

my biggest swim meet of the season is that night so who knows, ill have to do something during my free hour while shes still in school, creativity and simplicity can always make a girl smile if theres good thought behind it, if you try to do something complex just to impress her thats all youll do... impress her.

Yeah, my wife is spoiled year round, so I try to change up my Valentine's routine. But, seeing as how she's in Iraq, I sent her a couple cards (one funny, one serious works great; especially since she has a tendency to favor the funny cards). Can't send chocolate cause it'll melt. So, I'll have to think of something real good. I think I'm gonna put my fine art of mix CD making to good use, and maybe make a video and rip it to disc. Can't go too crazy though, cause one of our sons' b-day is a week after.
And for any guys who have no clue what to get, I'll drop some science for ya: First, do you know your gf/wifey REALLY well? (if you're married to her, I'd hope so :D ) If not, then definately go with the basics, i.e. card and chocolate, dinner. A big bonus if she likes chocolate, since, from what I've read, is a fairly decent aphrodisiac.
Secondly, how long have you been in the relationship? Cause if you haven't dropped the L-bomb, doing so through Hallmark isn't the best way to go. Get creative. Write a poem. Or if she's the girly/princess-y types, write a "To be continued" type of fairy tale. Yes, I've done all of these, so I know from years of experience (20+ to be exact). Hell, I've even written poems for friends to give to their better halves, since they lacked the Cerebral Shakespearean section of the mind.
Thridly, and most importantly, try not to do something that's typical. Spontaneity can be a big winner on Valentine's (and b-days, anniversary's, etc.) If you're not sure how crazy she is about ya, do something that'll make her think that no one could ever top you and your gifts/ideas. Just don't be predictable; that's the key.

Yea I hate valentines day. Mostly because I don't bother with the women around me because they in general suck (boring,lazy,spoil ect...). So I don't bother with girls. Hence all I see is a bunch of meatheads sitting in circles saying "Hur hur hur j00 eez hawt so I gut j00 sum cheap chocolates and withered flowers."
Plus I don't get a day off school. So in general it's a crappy holiday. At least for me.
