Woohoo. New MMO.
Well, not really new, but new to me. I just downloaded it, and planning to start playing it today. It is a unique kind of game since it has a real money transfer economy. It is free to play, but you need to invest real dollars (or pounds in my case) to get ahead. It is similar to Second Life, but the big difference is that in Second Life there is really nothing to do but walking around, talking to other players and spending money. In Entropia Universe there are real monster areas, and resources, and quests. It is all still very new, so I can't give big stories (yet).
So I was wondering if anybody else has seen/heard/tried it out?
(here is a linky: http://entropiauniverse.com)
Edit: Yikes, creepy! My whole post sounds like a gold sellers ad. Maybe I should have left it for one of Dru's spiffy news posts. I am not trying to get anybody to sign up. Mostly just curious if anybody had tried it.

I tried it back in '06.
Didn't like it much though.
The whole setup is not what I look for in a game.
I don't mind paying for my entertainment on a subion or pay-per-view basis. But the making money through play makes it not play but work. Your whole attitude switches. Didn't like the (lowbie) player crowd either or the fact you're stuck with the first toon you create. It's not something that's mentioned very well before you mess up your first character while trying to learn the ropes as I'm wont to do.
Still, it is one of the few Sci-Fi MMO's out there and there is a guy who literally made Millions but rather than withdraw that money in one go is now living of the Real Life proceeds of his in-game assets. Dutch tax taxes second-job or income double. (bad grammar, I know) So for every buck I earn playing I have to give 60 cts to my government. I actually agree with taxes in principle, but in this case it does make me not want to bother.
