Well, you’ve labored a toon to 50 and now you’ve had the opportunity to fly a PB or a WS. You’ve discovered the expanded powers list associated with Bright Nova, Dark Nova, and the White/Black Dwarfs (dwarves – sorry, J.R.R.) and are most likely pleased.
However, you’ve also discovered that the expanded forms also leads to new problems: switching forms, finding the right tray, powers coming on/off depending on which form you are in and keeping up with it all. In fact, your frustration has most likely led you to search this article or to give up the AT and go back to the human standards.
Fear not, what follows is a few lines of text that will rock your Kheldian playing experience. Buckle up, here we go.
First, you need to think about organizing your powers. Personally, I put all of my pertinent human powers in Trays 1 and 2. I leave Tray 3 for Bright/Dark Nova powers and Tray 4 for White/Black Dwarf powers. This separation of powers by tray will become abundantly apparent.
Second, it is time to set your binding. To set your binding select three keys (you’ll need three) to assign your various Kheldian forms. Why three? One for human, one for the squid and one for the lobster. I normally set my Numpad1, Numpad2 and Numpad3 for the human, squid and lobster forms respectively. They are convenient for me and are right there by my right hand. However, choose keys that make sense to you. If you use a key other than my suggestion, just keep in mind to change the binds according to the key(s) that you have selected.
Here is the bind for the human form:
/bind numpad1 “powexec_toggle_off Dark Nova$$powexec_toggle_off Black Dwarf$$powexec_name Gravity Shield$$goto_tray 1”
NOTE: it is necessary to turn off whatever form you may be in to get back to the human form. Also, I like to go ahead and bind the Gravity Shield ‘on’ because it is the basic WS shield. Added for those who wonder why the bind is so different from the ones which follow.
Here is the bind for the Nova (squid) form:
/bind numpad2 “powexec_toggle_on Dark Nova$$goto_tray 3”
Here is the bind for the Dwarf (lobster) form:
/bind numpad3 “powexec_toggle_on Black Dwarf$$goto_tray 4”
NOTE: If you are binding for a PeaceBringer simply replace Dark Nova in the bind with Bright Nova, and replace Black Dwarf with White Dwarf. Also replace Gravity Shield with Shining Shield.
Here is the pay off: You’ll find when you play with these binds that by pushing the numpad2 you will change to the squid AND your tray will change to the tray that has the active squid powers. No more fumbling to cycle through trays. All changes are reduced to one key stroke. Cool, huh!?
In fact, when I play, I find that it is possible to exhaust the powers in one form, switch to another form, exhaust the powers there and then go to the third. By the time I get back around to the first form, all those powers have recycled and I can start the cycle over again.
For those who think it through and wonder, there is no reason to turn Gravity Shield off when switching to the squid or the lobster. Doing so automatically turns it off. Also, if you don’t care about the Gravity Shield you can put whatever power (fly, hover, etc) you wish in this slot.
Now, for those of you who have persevered this far I have a little bonus for you. When you play a WS/PB long enough, you realize that there is a great danger out there that will increase your debt: Voids, Quantums, and Cysts. The real danger is having one of these hanging around that you don’t see. Many is the time that I’ve been blasted with that purpley blast from an unknown Void or Quant.
This used to be a bit of a challenge until I stumbled across a very helpful targeting bind that you also might like. I now make this bind on all my Kheldian toons as well as all my regular builds. This bind will always target any void, quant or cyst in a group. It’s always nice to know where these buggers are.
I have simply replaced my targeting key [Tab] with the following bind:
/bind tab “target_enemy_next$$target_custom_next enemy alive quantum$$target_custome_next enemy alive void$$target_custom_next enemy alive cyst”
If there is no void, quant or cyst in the room, the targeting acts just like a normal targeting key and will cycle through all the enemies within range. However, if there is one of these villains, it will lock on to them and stay there. While using this bind, I am seldom if ever surprised by a void, quant or cyst.
I hope that this has been helpful to you in playing your Kheldian.

Hi there.
I just to tumble around with the different forms, so I appreciate these binds.
And when it comes to die from all the purple powers you mentioned, i certainly know what you mean, they hurt pretty bad.
Once again, thx for these lovely binds :)

Go to the option menu and open up the help window. One of the tabs will have USER written on it. Under that tab, it lists all the various commands at your disposal. Just find the correct one in there....and if I remember correctly, alot of times, I want to type powerexec when it is in fact, powexec......I always try to insert the ER in POWER.

Dont give up just yet. I would recommend doing small binds initially.
ex. single power execution, form transformation, or just the tray swap. This will familiarize you with the "language" of binds.
I had issues the first few times I tried stringing them all together. You miss one little step sometimes and the whole thing is a bust.
Once you get them set, you will let out a big sigh of relief.

First off, Welcome to Gameamp Balraug! Second, I would encourage you to polish your post up a bit and write a guide. I myself played an all human-build Peacebringer (Enath, CHampion server) to level 50. It would help and benefit more people here on City of Heroes Gameamp to have a good solid guide on binds for Kheldians in general.
Again, welcome to Gameamp!

Have a look at the special Kheldian section here. And maybe in specific the Form Binds thread. I actually thought there are some more threads too with spiffy Kheldian binds. But Balraug's post is really nicely detailed. I agree with Falcon it is guide worthy.

Welcome to Gameamp, Balraug!
I'm still playing with too many alts to bring a Kheldian to life in Paragon City, but since this is now officially a guide I'll be sure to check it out when my altitis flares up next.
