I've played all of the archs in the game including the Khelds and I've gotten pretty good at most of em. The only arch I can never seem to get any good at is the Stalker. I know a lot of people love their crazy good damage and such but there a just a few things I don't quite get...
1. Can you be effected by AoE attacks like Fireball or Mass Hypnosis when you're stealthed?
2. Do things like Repel and Chilling Embrace undo stealth even though they don't do damage?
3. If I'm getting ready to AS someone and they run away, does the attack still go thru or is it automatically cancelled?
4. Do the bonus effects of the set apply to AS? What I mean is does the energy melee AS have a stun for example.
5. Now this is a bit more complicated. In CoH, if you put a toggle AoE debuff like Snow Storm on a Embalmed Cadaver, they cannot explode beacuse it's interruptable. Same thing for the Morts ability to rez zombies. So, if I put something like Snow Storm on a stalker or someone with Snow Storm on them gets near a Stalker, is AS going to be interrupted?
6. Lastly, this is more of a PvE question, once you unleash AS on someone should you stay in the mob and try and hold your own like a Scrapper or should you back off and let the team take care of it?
If I could figure these things out, I might actually find a Stalker I like. Thanks for helping GameAmp!

Yep.

Once your AS has started it will go off even if he ran halfway the corridor. I use it a lot when I get a bunch of characters after me. After a while they give up and run back. I quickly SS pass them and AS the last one in the train. By the time he drops dead they are already that far away they didn't even notice me and keep running.

I think so. AS is basically just like any other attack. It is bit comparable to the long range blaster attack.

Oh yes.

You have some survivability so you can scrap on a bit. But you are still more useful alive than dead so when it gets hairy you should run.
In general if the group your team wants to attack has no spontaneous AOE's hold off till the rest of the team gets their attention before you AS anybody. That way you won't have the entire group on you (which will mean death). If they do AOE if gets trickier since you won't be able to AS. But some of your other attacks are still pretty powerful. Get the AOE guy out of the way, wait to get hidden and then AS.

Bleh, nothing left to answer, Phedre pretty much took care of it.
However:
| QUOTE | | 4. Do the bonus effects of the set apply to AS? What I mean is does the energy melee AS have a stun for example. |
AS is only useful when used from Hide or after a Placate. Even when slotted with 3 dmg SOs, it won't do more damage than your tier 2 attack power (Storm Kick, Energy Punch, Smite etc) if you use it out of Hide.
AS also doesn't have any secondary effects AT ALL. Only the damage type that the set uses, e.g. Dark/'s Assassin's Eclipse has Smashing and Negative damage, but not even a -acc component.

I was going to check number four myself when I got home, but it seems Midnight beat me to it.
5/6 though Phedre. Don't beat yourself up though, a B- on a six question pop-quiz is nothing to sneeze at. However, I do want a little more detail from you next time. Simple "yes"/"no" answers are so last month.
*RINGZ!*
Oh, there's the final tone! Let's all go crazy and whip up some fortecoolies!

Thanks a lot you guys, this has helped me a little bit. Now I needs some help with a build (omg, its a double post!) Seeing as how I want as little aggro drawn to me and as much damage as I can get, I was going to go with EM/SR. But thats just a thought. I was also considereing /EA, Kat/, or /Nin. Any suggestions, thoughts, or recomendations?

I am not so big on builds, but I can give you some advice. I would make a Claw or DB primary, and regen or willpower secondary.
Let me start with the secondary. I think I created at least 5 or 6 stalkers that only frustrated me till I tried out regen. The reason regen and willpower are the best is because they make your stalker more survivable. My initial frustrations with stalkers were that I died way too quick. Especially at the lower levels your attacks at not full proof. And unfortunately those of your opponents seems to work all the time. Regen and willpower both give you some heals early on. That way you should be able to survive and have fun with your stalker long enough to get a feel of its playstyle. Maybe they are not the best set for the expert, but I would start there.
Second problem I initially had with stalker is that their attacks sucked. Way too many misses followed by quick death. Energy, MA, Ninja Blade all frustrated me. I was actually going to give up on stalkers, but then I had a character concept that just shouted claws stalker. The lovely Concrete Pillow. So I tried claws. I don't know if Lord Recluse gave me some special claws, but I seemed to hit the mobs way more than with the other sets. And she quickly became my most favourite character. Recently I started a Dual Blade stalker and love that set as well. It just looks so good. And it seems quite powerful too. At least I am not complaining. And neither are the mobs. They are all dead :)
So there you go. No build from me. But no yes/no answers either. So maybe it is another B+ post :)

Grades....I don't need no stinkin grades!!!!
But as for builds....try a Claws/Nin Stalker....my first 50 build :) It has some good defense, some toys to play with and a nice tier 3 defense. The DPS is second to none, however Claws is not the strongest attack set out there.
If you don't like that...then go with a EM/Nin Stalker...Great damage.
You can even try those two primaries with the new secondary set, /Will Power. I'm running that on a Brute currently and it's not that bad.
But for the playstyle, I do more Scrapping than a Scrapper does with my Stalkers...just find out a playstyle you like and stick with it, as long as it works for you.

Assassin Strike attacks have only one damage type to them. This is required because having another damage type means two damage sources, which would bypass the "one-shot" rule in PvP situations. EM is energy damage, DM is negative energy, MA is smashing, and the rest is lethal. There are no secondary affects associated with Assassin Strikes because its one and only purpose is big bursts of damage and any side effect would make it too overpowered.
As for what build to go with, EM/Nin is the current PvP FotM, and performs the most burst damage in PvP and PvE. It's not made to scrap it out as much as it is better at Hit and Run tactics.

Alright, thanks a lot for all the input guys. I think I'll try claws/nin or claws/SR. I like SR as it is and I can't complain about Nin and its self heal so it should work out. Thanks again for helping me get into the Stalker groove
