Ok, so I've finally made the leap from playing either supportive AT's and Scrappers to full-fledged squishy ranged DPS. I.e. I'm playing a Dominator.
The Powerset I picked is Plant/Fire, after discovering Gravity/Psi is the most annoying combination of annoying sounds that are annoying. They're annoying, ok?
Now, the first thing I realized is, you're not always in Domination mode. Major design flaw there! :-)
So I got to thinking, there's this travel-power I never pick ('cause I don't like the animation) which is Superspeed and the often lauded Hasten. I figure if I slot it with 3 Recharge Reductions, I can have near permanent Domination by the time I get SO's, possibly a bit sooner with IO's. Provided it actually affects the innate Domination Power. Since moments after considering this someone mentioned the term 'Permadom' in chat, I suspect I re-invented the wheel just there.
Now my question is about Endurance management. I'm already aiming for Stamina, so that will be included. I'm not sure how bad it will be though. I mean, hitting Domination refuels your Endurance bar. I bet someone here used the wheel before me and can tell me how badly you're strapped for Endurance as a Permadom?
I'm also considering my squishiness. I tend to prefer having around 4 to 6 maximum attack powers which I spam rather than 8 - 10 of them, so I'll not be going for every power in the two main sets. I can go Fighting for always-on or Jumping / Leadership for toggles. It would probably be Leadership as SS + seems a bit much. I'm inclined to go for toggle here but wondering once more on endurance consumption.
Any thoughts?
Mind, I'm not looking for a Hero Builder print-out here, or a level by level build. I like to keep things 'open'.

Fine, no builds for Iani. Well, I've never made it very far with a dom (not my kinda thing) but I have managed to get domination up ASAP. As far as I know, Hasten should affect Dom's recharge. As for actually getting full dom bar put your weak attack from your secondary (Flares in your case) on auto. Within a few seconds, yur dom bar will shoot up if you keep attacking enemies with that. So with fast dom bar build up from Flares on auto and with Hasten, Domination should be up and ready to go most of the time
As for the end management, Dom's get access to Power Sink and Dark Consumption when you get epics. Those would obviously help. Since you went with fire, you get Consume too. Pick up one of those and you're fine. Stamina is necesary with this arc as with any other
Now, I'm a leadership junkie. I absolutely love that set! And for doms, it would go great. The +acc would be awesome seeing as how all of the dom's powers are attacks. And the +dam from assault would help you out too. Teams also love Leadership, so it's a win-win. In other words, get it!...if you want to

I'd figured it'd be smart to use the 2nd set for building up Dominance. But putting a ranged attack on auto? Ehm, no. Just no :-)
Trust me, I'm saving tons of future teams from getting wiped with this decision. I did get the firey melee attack and that's on Auto. I'll have to slot up Flares with Recharge Reductions as well then. I'll have to look up consume as I've never had it yet. Sounds nice though :-)
I'm thinking, can I get Hasten without having to go for the annoying feet-spark-run? Maybe just pick that Power? Will have to see. Then I can go for Jump or TP as main travel power set yet. I'd also like to go for Fighting. Heh, gonna have to make due with few different attacks, but that's ok.
I'll definitely be picking up at least one Leadership Power. Maybe I can talk Phé into taking some too. If I can get her to form yet another duo with me in the first place :-)

Also, I believe it was Warron who I originally heard this from, but Spamming a PBAoE, even when nothing is around, will get your Dom bar back up. So since your /fire maybe pick up Combustion, and use it just as something to get Domination filled.
I recently made an Ice/Thorn Dom, and with Hasten, its back up pretty quick, so Stamina almost feels optional. *Almost*
And you don't like gravity? /em cry
But I can see that the vacuum noise could get annoying, but it one of my personal fav sets.

Yeah, I recall W.P. mentioning the Thorn set being usable for that yes. Don't know what Consume does yet, it's PBAoE then?
I really do like Gravity, when another Dom is using it, same for the PSI powersets really. Especially the caterpillar and giant Sushi bits. (No, that's not isolation material!) It's just that when used in conjunction they continues generate irksome, annoying noises. Either one would probably not be a problem for me, it's just the Grav/PSI combo that does it afaik.

Consume is like Dark Consumption, it needs Acc to hit, has a longer recharge to be spammed repeatedly, but when used get you back some endurance.

Heh, you're assuming here that I know what Dark Consumption does :-) My highest ever Villain is Char Dreaming, who's 30 atm. Looking into it, I just noticed that Fiery Assault never got its individual Powers filled in in our Powers Section. Something to do I guess :-)

Thing about perma doms is that its near impossible to get them early on becuase it requires so many slots my perma-doms build requires him to be 43ish to acheive perma-dom and near permanent hasten, Personally i wouldn't try to make a perma-dom until you have a decently high level character because of the infamy it takes to buy the huge number of IOs you need to make the goal work, it took me about around 50 mil to slot out my Dom and get the IOs he needed ( not counting the ones i found or got from SF's) although once you do hit perma dom its pretty fun in both PvE and PvP although i dont know about plant/fire but mine is mind/ice with a 10 second domination overlap according to mids and a 3 second downtime for hasten by lvl 50 with
+78.8% recharge from IO set bonuses
On a side note i agree that gravity is one of the most annoying set noises i've ever heard

I just remembered a handy little IO trick that could help in this quest for permadom: Force Feedback. It has a special IO that gives, no foolin, +100% recharge for about 5 seconds! Now I don't think Plant/Fire has many attacks with KB but if u took up a set that had it...well...yeah
Also, for that whole Consume thing. You drain the endurance away from every enemy around you and give it to yourself. It needs an accuracy check but if you drain 3-4 enemies you should have about a full bar of end.

Guess I'll have to settle for the Dark Consumption thing though.
And Chunkaliscious, I know you meant well, but... *Hissssss*
I went cross-eyed at the third comparison table.
I'm not really expecting to go True Permadon at level 10 or something, just going to keep it as a goal to get close to. The AT is versatile enough to survive without constant Dominance :-)

Consume is useful, yes. But it's downtime is so long! Anyway, yeah, pick it up later if you want the extra endurance buffage. I personally don't think that you'll need it, with Stamina and Domination fueling your endurance bar.
As for what BL was talkin about, if you get Combustion, you can use it anytime to build your domination bar. Because it's a PBAoE attack, it can be fired anytime you want, with or without enemies around. Because it's an attack, every time you use it, you get a little bit of domination. See a boss up ahead in your solo mission? Stand away, put Combustion on auto, and in very little time, your domination bar will be full, ready for you to pop dom and go to town on that boss. =D

Cool, thanks for the tips :-)
One final question, Dominance is built up through attacking, not hitting. So does it pay (extra) to use an ranged AoE? i.e. do you get more Dominance for it or is it the same? I.e. if hitting one person with flares gets you 1 domination, hitting 3 with fire breath also gets you 1 right? Not 3, maybe 1.3 or something marginal?
