My guild is slowly building up it's raid able member base, but we're not sure where to start once we do. We'll probably have to start with 10-person raids. Any recommendations?

Well it depends, on a few factors like level, gear, how many players and so on and so forth =P
Well Dru, BB, TP, Mitch, Psycho and Shado can help you out more once you give us more info :)

Unknown Legends site on Guild Portal should give an idea as to the roster.
After looking, we're a bit farther away than I thought :p
The Guild Leader is away until he can get an internet connection...which may be a loooooong time. That leaves 4 of us...and only 3 @ lvl60 or above (I'm slowly getting there). We HAD another 60, (an Undead Warrior) but I'm not sure what happened to him. He seems to have dropped off our roster, and when I Armory him he shows no guild.
My sig can tel you what gear I'm in...and I'll be the MT unless we get some outside help.
I'm still trying to figure out what gear to grind out...and where to get it. I know I'm going to need an arse-load of Stamina, but I'm not sure what to stock up on after that.
If Death takes me now I shall not fear, for I have lived and life is good.

Stamina and defense rating are the most important attributes for a tank, as soon as you hit outlands you should be ok. Just start practicing at the lower level instances in outlands ie: ramparts, BF, SP, and underbog. BF will be your first real test since it can be tricky at times.
Ps: Run with pugs and get to know the community it helps if your guild is small, you will get to know who knows what :) and who to put on friends or ignore list =P

Your guild seem to be withing level 60s
Here is a link that may help you out
http://www.wowarmory.com/dungeons.xml
Since you are a growing guild and most people will be looking for guilds running high end game content, you may want to run ahead in Outlands and start getting into Rampart and BF. ALthough they are 5 man instences, the gear that drops are often better or equal to what can drop in lower stuff.
Good luck

yep, just go to outlands and lvl up, either instance grinding or quests, which ever one is more fun for you. but once your about 67, start doing instances to get your gear, youll need all the blues you can get your hands on if you want to do a 10 man raid.
if you something that can tell you where to go for good tanking gear, i suggest download the Atlas Loot Enhanced mod at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/addons/ a direct link to the mod can be found here http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/2983/

The +125 dmg...is that Spell or melee?

this link should explain everything towards being a tankadin http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/viewtopic.php?t=163
as for getting people for kara once your all 70 and gearing it should be relatively easy, not sure how populated your server is but with mine iv been in about 4 diff kara guilds on my war recently trying 2 find a place for him but unfortunatly its proving 2 be a problem....so much for the tank shortage -_-

I'm going to update my sig...(will have done so by the time you read this :p)...so that it's updated. DKP is behind, so I'll add a guildlaunch sig too :p
I'm pretty much the only tank in my new guild. I left the Unknown Legends (creative differences, best not to ask :p) and am in a guild with a couple that left UL at the same time I did. They've hit 70, and I'm sitting Comfortably at 60. We're slowly getting geared up again :p So take a look and let me know how far off I am from a decent tank setup.

I, too, am gonna start doing this (KARA) but have a few questions...
1) What's a good/balanced team for Kara? Suggestions?
2) Is there anywhere BC Instances etc, whe we can "practice" 10-man raids? Ramps/BF/SV/TK:Mech? We need to get our strategy and style down. :-p
Thanks ya'll!

Thanks. Read through it, but will need to refer back to it frequently :p
As for how populated our server is...well...the Gates of An'Qiraj JUST opened last week...the week I was unable to log in due to being out of town and no internet...the week that, according to my guild mates, there was almost a character lynching due to the gates being opened with NO freaking warning!

some people would tell you that the group you need depends on the boss, and the trash towards the boss. but ive been in some weird groups where weve made due with what we had. as long as you dont have like 4 tanks, 1 healer and 5 ret pallys, youll do fine lol. all you really need is 2-3 healers, no more than 2 tanks, maybe a third somebody that can switch out gear if an extra tank is needed, ie a druid/pally, but 2 tanks should be the most you need. and 5-6 dps, a mix of range and melee. on the dps you normally dont want more than 2 of any class, its unnecessary. for kara, you want a couple priests though, for example, my guild has a shadow priest for dps, and a holy priest for heals, and the reason you want priests is that there are a lot of undead mobs in kara, and the shackle is a very valuable tool to have. hunters are good for their traps (if they do it right), rogues are good for their kicks, and they are needed on romeo and juilet as well as Shade of Aran, and their mindnumbing poison is also helpful on illhoof. pallys are good for their buffs, and tanking/heals. there are a couple mobs in kara that a demons so locks can use their banish on those and help cc for a few pulls. every class has its place.
as for practicing, id say just do heroics and make sure you can keep up. if your heals arnt cutting it in heroics, then they arnt going to in kara, same goes for tanking and dps. and you also want to get your spell rotations down, you dont want to go into kara and have no idea how to max your dps. you need to have your talent build made for max dps, heals, or tanking. go on the wow class forums at the wow site and see what other people have and ask questions, its what i did and it helped, i do 600+ dps in parts of kara because of it. and i didnt get it down right away either, i respeced a few times before i got up their and i chanted my strategy more than that. its a learning experience. the only way you can be sure that your ready for kara is to go in and try it. if you go in and you kick ass, your doing just fine, and if you go in and your at the bottom of the dps, go do some research. (please keep in mind that if you are dps, it will go up and down throught the instance, for example after we kill attunmen ill be one of the ones at the top, but right after him, come some group pulls, and the mages and warlocks dps sky rocket with their aoe spells while i run around like an idot auto attacking any mob i can find, so keep in mind that your dps, and others dps will change). and this is also a group effort, once you hit curator, everyone, and i mean everyone, will have to be at the top of their game, this is the halfway mark through kara and if your group cant pass him, then none of you are ready. but dont be discouraged. keep on trying and once you, and your group, get the hang of things, youll soon be downing prince and aran.
i hope that helped, sorry if its to long or i went completly off topic lol. if you or anyone has questions about karazan, i am more than willing to help, the only experience i dont have is with the two dragons, netherspite and nightsbane, everything other than them i have a lot of experience with. feel free to ask me anything. even if i might not know the answer.
