Want to Become a Comodities Trader?

Have found out over the years that anyone who wishes to be financially secure needs to balance their investments between "High Risk/High Return" items and ones that are "Short Term/Moderate Return". If you get a lot of high return salvage or recipes from missions, cool. If not check this out for an easy quick return investment strategy.

FACT:

Any Store in the game, at any time, will give you the following pricing:

Lvl 50 Gold recipes = 5000 Influence
Lvl 50 Orange Recipes = 10,000 Influence

PLAN:

Here's the strategy, go to Wentworth's with all recipe slots (16) available. Search the inventory for "Off" Lvl 50 Enhancement Recipes, by this I mean ones that only Certain Archetypes will use: Fear, Sniper Attacks, Taunt, etc.
You can usually find enough among these you can buy for 1000 Influence to fill all 16 Recipe slots. Go to the nearest store and Sell.

16 Lvl 50 Gold Recipes = 80,000 Inf for a 16,000 investment ( for a 64,000 Inf profit ), better yet 16 Lvl 50 Orange Recipes = 160,000 Inf for the same 16,000 invested. This yeilds a 144,000 Inf profit for a meager amount of work and can be done anytime you want to. This way You also don't have to wait for someone to be interested in buying, just sell it as a Comodity to a store, Instantly.

Always remember, Wentworth's is a Market, don't sit around and wait for the Golden Egg to fall in your lap, you can Play it and Profit with little startup Influence. Granted, this will not yeild the kind of returns that Finding a rare Recipe will, but in the meantime....

So, have you considered pursuing a degree in finance? I think you may have found your niche.

RE: Want to Become a Comodities Trader?

I'll add a bit of my personal experience to this.

Last week I purchased 5 level 43 Lady Grey Debuff chance for damage proc recipes and the equivalent salvage to make them for around a million total. I then turned around and sold each one for 2 million a piece. It took a day or so but all 5 sold, netting me 9 million in profit.

I have done this with several other IOs. You can find all sorts of recipes that sell for cheap that when made into their enhancement equivalent sell for much more. I generally always check out how much a created enhancement will sell for versus just selling the recipe. Its amazing to me how much people will pay for the created product.

I'm just happy to see that entrepreneurship is alive and well and it's not those stupid spam emails for power leveling that I keep receiving.

Unfortunately I have thought of none of these ideas. Thanks for the info.

i'ld like to poin out that you can do the same with a good deal of the orange salvage, which is especially useful when your a lower level just lookin for 5-10 k to slot yourself

RE: Want to Become a Comodities Trader?

What I don't understand is why anybody is putting items on Wentworth below the price you can catch for it at a regular vendor. Especially for salvage and regular IO's it is so straightforward. And on top of that selling at a vendor is instant income. Before I sell anything at Wentworth I know the price I'll catch for it at the vendor.

I think one can make some money with MarineX's scheme, but it sounds like a tedious operations for little gain. Sweeping the streets in PI or Monster Island bring in about as much, and is a lot more fun. Chunkaliscious's scheme sounds better. But I'll just stick to what I really play this game for and that is kicking butt.

What you have to watch with this though is to take into account the price of the recipe, components, and the creation price.

There are some enhancements that will sell for a million or 2, but the one of the rare components sells for 1 to 1.5 million itself. Then you add in the price it takes to create the enhancement (there is a cost to create it, whether it is done at the university or in your base), sometimes you actually can lose influence.

Make sure you look at the cost to produce versus the influence after it is sold.

With all that said, I have been loving the new invention system. When it first came out I steered clear of it. But after I learned the basics, I have really enjoyed creating and selling items.

NOOOOOO!! youve leaked the secret to easy money!! hahahah just kidding. i have been doing this for a while, mostly with smaller stuff, i load up on white and orange salvage that costs less than 50 at WWs, then sell it for 250 (white) or 1000 (yellow) each at a store. i made like 300,000 inf in about 20 mins or something. its dull but very effective.

RE: Want to Become a Comodities Trader?

I have also been using all of the methods mentioned here since the invention system was launched. I never posted any of the secrets because I don't want to derail the gravy train.

Since you asked, though, the reason it works is because people who already have plenty of influence are trying to get the badges for selling things. Selling below market prices speeds up the process of earning the badges. Some people will actually buy things from NPC vendors just to have them to sell at WW. Certain items are also being bought and resold over and over for the same reason.

I sell all salvage (that isn't worth multiple millions) for $5. I've sold a ton of stuff, but haven't hit 5000 sales yet for the badges. 10,000 is a ton of crap to sell. I'm willing to take a profit of zero for 90% of the salvage to get the badge.

I usually will sell any IO set recipe I get dropped on my head at WW for whatever the going price is for the simple fact that someone may be in need of that 'cheap' recipe and nobody's selling it so they get shafted & have to try to get the drop themselves.

I myself post all recipes, salvage, IOs, whatever I want to sell at Wentworths for a paltry price of 100 influence. That is a 5 influence cost to me, and at minimum a 95 influence return for something I got for free. Not only do I sell fast, even the "off recipes" sell within a day or so, but I most times get thousands of influence rapidly.

Oh and smart thing...regular, non-set IO's are best sold at any store, because you will make more than at auction. Not a method, a madness, or a scheme to make max influence. I just know I get phenomenal results and rack badges fast as well and people benefit by getting something thy need for a seriously resonable price. Its is not all about the badges, its about getting a reasonable market price for goods exchanged. BTW Big: you post an item for 5 or 100 influence, does not matter, the cost is still 5 influence.

level 35 IO's.

salvage is cheap...if you have the recipe memorized, it is cheap to make and they sell for from 100 to 150k each. Every night before I log off, I buy my salvage, make them and post them. I clear about 2 million per day with less than a 10 minute investment.
