| Dealing with flyers and runners? |

First of, sorry for the dumb question, I am a 3 month newbie. I have played blasters, defenders, masterminds and tanks. The first 3 have ranged attacks and the 4th is an aggro magnet. I haven’t had any trouble getting at my intended target. Now that I began playing PvP, I began looking at toon builds under a different light.
Now I am starting up a new toon, a MA/SR scrapper (The Savateaur) to take advantage of the dble xp weekend. Looking over the toons evolution, I began to question a simple things.
How do I deal with targets I cannot physically reach? With my other toons it was simple, shoot them. With the tank, they would come to me. But how do I do this with a Scrapper? How do I take care of fly by attacks? To the guy on the roof?
Many other archetypes have holds or slows but I found non for scrappers.

i dont know a whole lot about pvp but if you go claw or spines it has a range attack there is a taunt for scrappers but idk if its good for pvp.
I'm not a altoholic...no really i only have 1000+ toons...thats not..really...never mind.

or you can go invs pool and get stealth and sneak up to a mm of something...
or duh TP foe why didn't i think of that before tp foe should solve all you problams.

I just started a thread right before this one. "tips on how to kill squishies". I am a ba/regen scrapper and i to have a rough time chasing down my prey. So far from what i've learned is that fear is a great option, as is tp foe. Other then that i guess we'll just have to get used to playin cat an mouse

While chasing down an opponent can be frustrating on ascrapper, since you have a MA/ Scrapper, you can *prevent* a runner by hitting them with Crippling Axe Kick. That should either root them, or slow them enough to keep them from going anywhere without you easily catching up, being /SR.

Bold pretty much got it right. You have to develop your attack chain so that they don't get a chance to run. With my BS/Regen scrapper, I always came in with one of my two strongest attacks that would usually knock them down and then go straight into other attacks. Having flight helps some... but against another player, the best thing is to be able to close quickly and chain your attacks. I'm sure there'll be plenty of people that can bring personal insight into this, but as for PvE, I hardly had any runners as I usually took them out too fast for them to run. Some baddies that were purple to me never even got in an attack as it was knock him down, smack him, knock him up, smack him, knock him back and then go around again.

I'm hoping to get some advancement done this weekend, myself. I've got a similar ma/wp build on the go. I've used one of the build planners to map out a plan. I'm figuring on the web grenades and caltrops from the devices epic pool. Grenades will probably have to have some range increase, but whatever u think is best. Nades cure flight, jumping, and have a nice hold time that can easily be looped. The caltrops slow very well, if my sonic/devices blaster's power is any indicator. I've planned for invis. in the build, so eithr can be placed to best advantage.
--As other have mentioned ther's the cak, and I am also trying to figure out a way to include cobra strike. I had it before respec. I like the respec, but that's the only power I miss.
Work in progress. We'll see.
