Surley this is illegal??
has anyone had it happen to them
And should i report to a-net ???

You've just been initiated.

Is it illegal? Yes and no.
It's been hard for Publishers to make this a legally punishable fact, but selling Game money for Real Life Dollars by other parties than the Publisher/Developer is in general against the Terms of Use and EULA of nearly every game in circulation today.

Does this stop Gold Sellers and Farmers? For about half a second. Most companies will publicly and loudly rattle their sabers at the Farm/Selling industry and try to keep things manageable with as little manual effort on their part.

You can report it to Anet. It will end up in the pile of reports and treated by largely automated processes and who knows, you might actually get that account banned, so the farmers will buy or steal a new one the next day. It's a profitable business.

i don't know IF you can report them, i tried it numberous times, but they are always in another district. i even tried traveling to every district and to report the guy, but it always says: this player is not in the same district as you are blablablah.

edit: lol stupid me, i didn't figure it out yet that that necromancer was that guy whispering you xD
report him :D

Ya they are bots, PMing ppl when they load that map. Than they swap to another district very fast and do the same thing. Very annyong they also started to do that in Eye of the North (the city).
Haven't been able to report them and I actualy don't think it'll help.
Pretty annoying they PM you these days.

I see bots about every other time I go to the great temple.
I've reported every one I've seen. The only thing it seems to do is the next time it's a different character name spamming the exact same sales pitch. makes me think that Anet is only banning characters and not accounts.

Literaly about 20 secs ago i had guild wars running, loaded up temple of balthazar and had same thing said to me. its annoying but i guess theres not much we can do about it except report.

..One day almost every time i zoned to Shing jea monastery i got whispered by 1-3 different bots X_X.. and i cant even add them to ignore list...

annoying is the word...

next select spamming from the list its not repeated but unsolicited thus its spam.
finally take a screenshot encase anyone contests the reasons for reporting.

Reporting gold seller's accounts is also good for Guild Wars.

I've seen a couple banned after reporting them, so it does happen, and they're forced to get a new account. As long as players keep their accounts safe, they have to buy a new one, putting more money into the game each time.

Report such folks every chance you get. More money into the game results in better support, server capacities, and, at this point, probably also expands the budget for GW2, (and it already sounds pretty ambitious).
