What I wanna know is where the hell did all the guides go? Is it just me or has there been no guides for like a month. Guess no one feels like being creative :(

No one has been submitting guides that are up to par.
So we have asked for them to be redone so they are more visually pleasing to the eye.
Approving guides since November 2007.

There have not been a lot of guides submitted but for those that are the team working on guides - Wyat and hat-of-doom on PvP and eiirish and Skittle on PvE - the ones submitted have not been to the TEAMS approval. It is not just one person saying nope not good enough, it is 4 people saying nope not good enough.
So keep them coming, and take the guys suggestions because they are a good team and efficient with their work. A lot of knowledge between the 4 of them.

Im thinkoing about doing a few, tho just plans so far nothing in-depth
One for 'how to monk in RA' because there is a serious lack on (good) monks there.
And maby one for lucky/unlucky.. tho I don't think its needed. I just counted win/adjacent/lose each game (19 rounds)
On the monking one, I'll do it if people want to. Got the build + idea all in my head, just need to work it out :)

Yes HS, make a guide. use a couple of others as a template, so its stylistically nice and your ideas will come shining through.

To be honest I don't care so much about how nice it looks as long as it has effective useful information in it, unless it has hard to understand spelling.

I find screenshots to be a pointless distraction to be honest. Whilst they look nice, they don't actually substantially add to the guide.

I find screenshots to be a pointless distraction to be honest. Whilst they look nice, they don't actually substantially add to the guide. |
what would you prefer?
option A:
Leave Rata Sum from the north eastern exit. Once outside turn to your right and keep running. Try and stay away from the raptors until your inside the cave. Run in there and round them all up. There is a big rock to the western side of the cave which is a good place to cast and keep aggro. Make sure you round up all the Nestling raptors before you aggro the main boss as she will use twisting jaws on you giving you a deep wound and degen which can be a real pain.
Once you have them all aggro'd at the rock i mentioned earlier start to cast... blah blah
option B:
Leave Rata sum and follow the route shown here.
Make sure you avaoid the raptors before you go in.
Once inside round up all the Raptor Nestlings and aggro the boss last. a good way to do this is turn left as soon as you enter the cave, aggro all those raptor nestlings then head back to the boss. A good place to end up is here.
once your there and have all foes in aggro range, start casting...
well, i know which one i prefer. Its not just a distraction, it can help and make a guide a lot clearer and understandable. If you have pages upon pages of text, a picture is a great way to ease up the guide. I think you get more response from a visual aid then a written one some times. Thats why TV is so popular i guess...
meh, thats what i reckon anyways, and i'm a doctor!
Edit: thats last part about me being a doctor isnt true, so dont pm me with any... issues :P

You see, the top 1 actually shows something. So that is a good screenshot. The bottom 1 isn't so good. Also, what I'm really referring to is the people that put a random picture of their character in for no real reason. I don't care what armour you're wearing, get on with the damn guide.

but!... as i said, pages upon pages of text can be intimidating. But i do see your point, it all depends on what your guide is about and who your target audience is.

edit: i'll be honest, when i see a guide i look at 3 things.
who the guide is by - if it is by someone i know i will read it regardless as i usually know they have something good to say.
what its about - if it something that intrests me i'll open it up
what it looks like - if i open a guide and its something i'm not usually willing to read and its just pages of text, i probably wont read it straight away.
its fact that people want to read or look at something thats pleasing to the eye, thats why clothes make the man. maybe thats why people do post a pic of their char's armor at the start of a guide. If someone has FoW armor, it makes me think 'hmmmm, this guy has FoW, he must have some clue about farming (if thats what the guide is about), lets hear what he has to say.
... maybe thats just me.

ive been wanting to write one, but dont know what to do it on....all my fav farming spots are pretty much covered...maybe a "Get better at pvp with your mesmer" guide idk...suggestions would be nice(im best with mes, derv, warrior) pm me if theres something about those professions youd like to see specifically
