My friend and I started two villains together, he was Stalker and I was a Dom. Around lvl 29 he got sick of his stalker and I got bored having to tank with my Dom because he couldn't take a hit. So we started two Brute and have played up to 20, he loves being a brute but I find it a little dull (I just finished getting a Scrapper to fifty so I'm all melee'd out, and want to try something out). Now the problem is I want to switch back to my Dom and play with his Brute but he is being a jerk. He can't believe I don't want play a brute because he sais, "Brute are the ultimate villain." I like brutes but I want something more challenging because I find Villains a little dull at times (its a mental thing, just not much of a villain kind of guy). So his response to this is, "It's just stupid to play a different character because its harder." What do you guys think? I just want to play the one that seems most fun to at the moment.

Let him complain, then make him eat his words once ya'll get to the sappers around 45ishs... then go lawl brute....
(cant tell ya how many "Oh, brutes are the ultimate/ Brutes Rulez/ lawl stalker brutez are teh pwnzors" ive gotten from brutes in my 40ishs then they proceed to aggro a group of malta and get themselves killed, thank god for sappers :] )

Wait till 40.
My Brute became painful at level 40. (Stone/Energy, I could not have picked a more gimped couple sets)
I pretty much gave up on him.

What's gimped about Stone Melee/Energy Aura? I'm currently levelling an /Energy Aura Brute (level 35 at the moment of writing) and he kicks butt! Can't see what's wrong about it.
I'm also levelling a Stone Melee Tanker... and what's wrong with Stone Melee? Good damage, nice crowd control...
So... two good sets. What's bad about the combination?

Until level 40, there's nothing at all wrong with the set, I had a blast getting there.
However, at level 40, you hit all the groups that will screw you up completely. You don't have a self heal. You're defense based instead of resistance based, which can result in some unpredictable hits when you least expect them. Your defenses are typed. So untyped damage (which I don't think exists in Villains) tears you up and psi damage tears you up. Energy Drains are also a major problem. Conserve Power help, but not enough.
As a stone melee, you're getting the groups that are all resistant to smash damage.
Mostly my issue is with Energy Aura, but sadly mixing the two is even more painful.

I havent really had a problem with the stone/energy set and im at lvl 46, i actually tank for my entire group for nearly everything that we fight. Yea psi did tore a hole in me for a while but after a few io sets I would be the last to die.

Just play your dom when he gets to its level. I don't see why he would be mad about that. 2 brutes < brute/dom
