| Dual Blades and Willpower: Who Is Best? |
|
|
|
I've been trying to figure this one out for a while but haven't found a definite answer. Here's the question: What Archetype works best with Dual Blades and Willpower? I know this kind of topic probably has been adressed a thousand times and I probably should of asked sooner but I figure with some people having more experience with the sets I can get a more confident answer. This is all I've gotten on this topic:
Tankers do GREAT with willpower. The resistances and defenses are great and the regen just makes it beautiful for tanks. However, I have heard squat about Dual Blades tanks. I have no idea if the set it decent, good or terrible. So, any /DB tanks have any comments?
Scrappers, from what I've experienced, are pretty good with Dual Blades. The critical hit can make some of the weaker attacks stronger and with quick recharge you can get more criticals off than with say Broad Sword. But I bet some DB scrapper has better insight into the set than I do seeing as how my DB scrap is only lvl 12. The only thing I've gathered from /Will scraps is that it doesn't work as well as tankers. Hopefully theres a little more to it than that.
I was originally excitted to see DB and Fury would mix and turn DB brutes into gods. But I haven't actually tried it. I bet someone out there has though. Anyone know how well Dual Blades goes with brutes? And as for Willpower, it seems that it would work somewhere in between Tanks and Scraps. Not great, but should be okay. Though I could be wrong...
Lastly are the stalkers. I've heard mixed reviews on Stalker willpower. Having a self heal seems to be a nice little bonus for willpower but I've heard that without RttC's regen the set is just not that good. The same for DB. Either people love the combos and such or the set is just too weak for Stalkers. So Stalkers are the most mixed in the whole DB/Will debate
Well, thats what I know. Any of ya'll know anything about the effectiveness and playability of these sets for various arcs? I hope so because I want to play these sets in the best way possible and avoid finding out at like lvl 35 that my build sucks. Thanks for the input once again GameAmp!

Any build you want to play and learn to play well will not suck. It may not be as good at it's "job" as other builds, but it can still fulfill some function on a team or soloing.
I'd say if you are determined to use DB and WP together, that you go with a scrapper, because they can make good use of the combo system, and WP works pretty well for scrappers. Just my experience, though, go with what you like.

willpower works very well for scrappers, the regen plus the resistance is a nice combo, healing back what actually got through. especially when paired with a strategy involving your primary set, like the control powers i get from dark melee on my scrapper, y get really nice mitigation.

Scrappers Hero side, Brutes Vill side, kinda.
Dual Blades is meant to attack, and alot. Tanks and Stalkers have some form of downtime, or interruption that they may need to do, self heal, taunt or hide. Scrappers and Brutes are nothing but pure carnage. Perfect pairing for them. Ovcourse it can work on the other archetypes, but they don't seem to reach the fullest potential they can have with them. It really only seems to shine on Scrappers and Brutes.
Willpower is a survival set, specifically PvE. Nearly every AT that can have it, can do well with it, but some have shortcomings that may make it a less preffered choice. Tanks have to deal with alpha strikes, that is what their job is, and Willpwoer has a vulnerable edge to it with a lack of a self heal, it may not be the best choice. A simmilar argument can be made about Brutes, but they make up fort with damage output. But if that first strike kills you... Willpower still isn't quite perfect here, but it still works. The set shines on Scrappers and Stalkers. They don't deal with those heavy hits. They deal with the residual, and local mess they throw themselves into. Willpower excells in that mess. Same downside is included, but the inherit style with those ATs change the expectations, and the situations they face.
All and all, each one work all-round. But the combo Dual Blades and Willpower shines on Scrappers far better than any other. This is mostly due to the expected damage output, and the expected damage recieved adds up to a comforatble mix that is just perfect. That, and Dual Blades is a team's set. Damage output and status effects like weaken can add to a far better team result. It just seems to naturally fit on Scrappers.
Big Chill is a conscranker: he conrols a mob so they do nothing, scraps a target till they can't stand, and tanks what's left till the job's done.
Dive in, have fun, and think about it later.
