this is probably a stupid question but why does it cost money to invite someone to your own guild?

Oh gawd, i remember back in the day before the invites required gold. The first day playing i had well over a dozen invites (and thats just the few times i was in town shopping) 100 gold isnt that much when you look at how much a fully decked out guild hall costs. Yes it can be very annoying when you're spending thousands on blind recruitments to only find a handful of members that stay, but then the point of a guild is to socialize and play together not just have a cool looking cape or a high rank that you havent even fough for

Basicly what they all just said, to prevent people sending out invites to everyone.
I've heard of annoying recruiters before, with simply too much cash on hand, sending an invite to every guildless person in the district.
Hence the 100 gold is to prevent *normal* people from doing that trick. Besides, i dont see the reason or usefullness to send invites to guildless people before asking questions, you get numbers, good & bad numbers, a good guild is more then just #1 - #99 But that's just me i guess.
