You didn't happen to shut down "Explorer.exe" when you pressed ctrl + alt + del?
Check if it's up (by pressing ctrl + alt + del and than tab processes).

And it doesn't help if you restart your PC? You can also press new task I think and fill in Explorer.exe, but I'm not sure if it will work

You don't have to re-install your entire windows right away O.o Can't you repair it or something. Kinda bad to delete all your files just because of a little file missing.
Maybe call Bill Gates ^^

Why lose all your files???
Warning for the next time, if you have the choice when installing make a small 10-20GB Windows-ONLY partition, that way incase something goes FUBAR, you dont lose all your games, movies etcetera etcetera.
As for the Explorer exe, seen it myself about 2 years back, its an error in Windows alright, something either got removed or changed.
If you got the Windows CD, insert it, and go Repair, that way hopefully Windows replaces Explorer.exe. If not, a grim day indeed.

as the others said, try to repair it. boot from your windows cd, select the recovery console, and at the command prompt type. chkdsk /r and hit enter. let that complete (may take some time), and see if that fixes the problem. good luck

Well it isnt porn, seeing as i dont watch it. I do think its from Limewire. I download Tons of music off there and i know Limewire is filled with Viruses and stuff. Shouldve used SoulSeek i guess xD

LimeWire = Evil wearing a mask.
You can download Music with it, yes. But it simply masquerades as a helpfull piece of software while kicking in your backdoor for whatever else also wants to find a nice home.
We're not going to discuss Download programs here, cause then this topic is over pretty fast, but just find something else then that.
Still, try Repair Installation from the Windows Boot CD, should work.

System restore is one that might help, or then just simpyl using cmd-based Repair Prompt from ur CD:
Putting Win-disk in, booting to install, then choosing "repair" option. You might be able to copy working explorer.exe to replace the old one, but can't remember if it was possible nor not.
!!! WARNING !!!
Don't bother if you don't know how to repair windows installation via prompt. In that case, use system restore and if it's too complicated, BEFORE re-installing ask someone in your friends/family for help, if you know someone's been poking with hardware or software more than you. ;)

I remember I had something like this many years ago. Pretty sure it's a virus that disables windows related stuff. The one I had wouldn't let me have task manager open for more than a few seconds and anything I run would terminate itself. Removing it will be very very tedious, and if you don't have anything of importance on your hard drive, I'd just reformat and save the hassle.
Taking it off required me to run virus scans, spyware scan, and looking up instructions for the particular virus (which is rather difficult. It's like finding the diagnosis of a disease) The steps might include going into the registry and manually removing keys. Also, the virus might have corrupted some system files as well, so yea...I'd just reformat.
P.S. Avoid downloading things that don't look trustworthy off Limewire or any other program/site.
